AP Products StarLights BL-3003 Dual LED Interior Ceiling Fixture Replacement

Upon closer inspection, It's obvious this light fixture was originally designed for use with 194 incandescent bulbs. These fixtures have been refitted with LED panels. In my opinion, the new LED panels are under-designed. There is room for additional LEDs inside the large light housings. The Cost to add a few more LEDs would have been minimal. The plastic light covers on this item are carryovers from the old incandescent units and make absolutely no sense on this LED-equipped model. There is a big 'magnifier' area in the center of the cover designed to amplify the light from a 194 incandescent bulb. This cover is totally useless and out of place with the flat panel LED array. A cover specifically designed for the LED panel would yield better light output and even light distribution. As another reviewer mentioned, this fixture is large and it hangs down off the ceiling 1/2" lower than the fixture it replaced. (depth is 1 3/4") If someone using the RV is 'just' clearing the lights now, that extra 1/2" of depth could be a problem.Current draw for this fixture is only about .315 amp at 12.8 volts. (A standard incandescent unit would draw about 2 amps at 12.8 volts.)The Starlights is a very efficient light!IMO the light output of this unit is just 'adequate'. The fixture is constructed of heavy plastic. Looks like it should hold up well. There is an added bonus with this fixture - an easily accessible compartment that could be used to store small 'valuables' like rings, cash, etc.EDIT: I added a 'customer image' of the light with the covers removed to better illustrate what I was trying to say. You'll have to find that 'other thing' on your own.

This product works well, however I have had a problem with the one of the 3 units I purchased. The on/off switch is flaky will not turn on at times. The switches are a modular plug in unit, I understand you can have a problem with these things. the light is really useless if I cant depend on it. But my real Bitch is I have emailed the seller and explained the problem and they have not had the courtesy of responding to my email. I hate to purchase a whole new unit just to get a $.50 switch.,

I must say, these are not cheap light fixtures. However they do a great job. The two main lites put out a lot of cool light for task work. The dimmer works well to tone that down a bit for general conversation and illumination. The nite lite is really nice if the grand-kids are along, or if your boon docking with no other outside light source. The adapter holds all the little parts. Also, these are ever more expensive if you go the the RV store. Use very little battery when you boon dock.

I bought two of these light fixtures for our Airstream trailer and also bought the dimmer and adapter modules to be able to dim each one. One went above the sink work area and the other above the dinette. They were very easy to install and fit exactly where our previous factory lights had been. I'm very happy to have these power saving lights. We can now leave one lit on low for the entire night without worrying about depleting our two house batteries. For dry camping, it keeps us from having to run the generator hours to recharge our batteries on cloudy days. On sunny days we rely on our roof solar panels. Soon, we will be changing out our ceiling bulbs with individual LED bulbs. For information, these lights are much whiter than our factory incandescent lamps.

I REPLACED ALL THE LIGHTS IN MY MOTOR HOME. I HAVE HAD A FEW BURN OUT, LED IS SUPPOSED TO LAST A VERY LONG TIME, THEY ONLY LASTED ABOUT 1 YEAR. THE REST ARE STILL WORKING, BUT FOR HOW LONG?

I bought three different LED RV fixtures for off-grid lighting and this one is my favorite. It's the best looking, best built and provides the most light of the 3. It is very slightly bluish but I prefer that over the noticeable yellow of the other 2. I find the "whiter" lights have much better contrast for reading.

Although it may seem expensive, in my opinion this light is worth the price I paid. The housing is sturdy, the light projects bright, even light and you can add options to make the unit more versatile . If you decide to by this product, you won't be disappointed.

These lights are great. The lenses are clear and the lights are bright. I purchased the regular version last year and they broke very quickly. The 921 bulbs were hard to remove and hard to get back back in. One of them actually broke off in the socket. These are far superior.
