COLOR WOW Root Cover Up – Temporary Hair Color Touch-Up

My hair is naturally auburn with a lot of sparkly white hairs. I dye it a bolder red, and I couldn’t get an appointment for awhile. I decided to try this to see if I could stretch my root touch ups. I’m surprised how well it works! I did not need to reapply it at all, as promised, it stayed put until I washed my hair. I think it gave a slight orange cast to my scalp at my part line, but it wasn’t very noticeable- I noticed it simply because I was examining my part line to see how well the product was lasting. It really blended perfectly and even camouflaged my sparkly white hairs.

This really works! I have red hair with some gold blonde highlights and grey roots, which are currently about a half an inch long or more and I used it in red today for the first time. I've never used a root coverup before and was a little skeptical but it was quick and super easy to apply and covered the grey naturally and without any mess. I'm very happy as my next hair appointment isn't until a few weeks. We'll see if it truly lasts between shampoos but right now I am super thrilled at this easy solution!

Overall.... If ColorWow expands their colors and/or I change hair colors and they have a strong color match I would try this product again. Color..... The Red color is certainly better than nothing and I would be satisfied enough if it was the only thing I could find. Its just too dark for natural/copper. Cover up.... It worked well to cover up my gray new growth. Application... Easy to apply for the most part. I highly recommend being very conservative with amount, experimenting with technique, go slow, and practice before you NEED it. Longevity, sweat, water and touching hair with hands.... Because the color was too dark and I found a different brand that matched I do not have feedback on this topic.

I did my research on hair color cover ups because I need to stretch out my times between salon visits. This product was highly recommended by several sources. I tried it today. Did not disappoint! Got medium brown and red to blend for my preference. Easy to apply. No fuss, no muss. Blends beautifully and easy to remove from skin when needed. Extremely lightweight. Not sticky. Won’t come off when I run my fingers over the hair on which I applied it. Comes out completely when shampooed. I did find that it tends to adhere even better to “dirty” hair, which makes sense, as residual oils or hair product like gel or wax would help the powder adhere even more. It does work fine on clean hair, too. Just takes a bit more application. Love this and will definitely use to go longer between salon visits!

This works great with my red hair. Really covers the roots and scalp. I also use it on my eyebrows. Love it!

I purchased the red color. My natural hair is auburn and I dye it brownish-reddish, so I do not have obnoxious roots and even when they are an inch grown out, you don't really notice the color difference unless you're really looking for it; however, the grey hairs, those are bright and shining as my hair dye fades! I will say this product is easy to use bc it is a powder and brush system. I say it's not for an amateur because I didn't love the results I had from using this product. I followed the instructions and really loaded up the brush. It covered really well and blended into my hair. The greys were covered and the roots were even less noticeable. I initially thought this was a success! As the day went on, I noticed that if I touched my hair, I had the color on my fingers & fingernails. I slept on it overnight and I did notice a small amount had transferred to the pillow. The powder stayed put until I washed my hair, which was about 2 days for me. The powder just sits on your hair, so it *works* but it's not ideal. If you're in a pinch and maybe are doing a zoom call, this would work well to hide those greys and roots. In person, less so just because it was impossible for me to not get it in my part...so my very pale scalp had a red tinge to it that is noticeable in person. I am convinced that it has to be down to user error. Maybe if a professional showed me how to use this properly, I would love the results more. That is why I gave it 3 stars, as it does work. For the >$20 price, I couldn't justify keeping it and I have returned it.

--- MY INITIAL REVIEW --- Wow! Just bought the red and it's the first time I've ever tried a root cover-up. It works perfectly! I can't see the roots at all after I put it on. I was worried about the color as my hair is a lighter shade of red (close to strawberry blond), but it blends in beautifully. It stays in really well too. Even after I shower, it's still there if I haven't shampooed. Sometimes I use conditioner only, and that only took out a little bit of it. And it takes about 2 minutes to put more on. I'm immediately delaying my next dye job by a week. :-) Awesome product! Keeping it in my purse from now on. :-) So glad I tried it! Yay! --- TWO YEARS LATER --- I seriously can't live without this product. I start using it in the 3rd week after my dye job. I use it often because I tend to wash my hair out daily (if you don't wash your hair all the time, it lasts a lot longer). Even using it a lot, it still takes me 5-6 months to use up a container of it. I buy the red, and it blends in beautifully whether my hair is dark red or whether it's faded to strawberry blonde. It allows me to go longer between dye jobs if I need to also. FANTASTIC PRODUCT.

L'ho provato oggi per la prima volta e dire che sono entusiasta è dir poco. Motivo: 1. a differenza degli spray usati finora, con un percentuale di spreco notevole, WOW l'ho messo esattamente dove si incominciava a vedere la ricrescita bianca, senza finire su orecchini o vestiti; 2. colore perfetto e non era facile perché li ho tinti rosso rame (che si trova a fatica e la tonalità può differire con facilità); 3. l'ho messo anche sulla pelle chiara nella scriminatura, che ha coperto, dando una sensazione di chioma più folta; 4. mi sono bagnata con la pioggia imprevista: tornata a casa dopo qualche ora: colore PERFETTO. Ho letto tantissime descrizioni di prodotti e soprattutto recensioni; ero già abbastanza persuasa della qualità di WOW, ma ora posso aggiungere la conferma da parte mia, sono contentissima.

I took this with me when I went travelling to touch up my red roots, it was superb. Easy to apply and didn’t come off on anything. I now use it when I coming up to my hair appointment and I have grey roots. Compact and so easy to use.

je recherchais depuis longtemps un produit facile et rapide à appliquer et surtout qui couvre bien les repousses entre deux colorations : c'est chose faite ! mes cheveux sont colorés en roux et le coloris "red" convient parfaitement pour recouvrir mes racines cheveux blancs tout en s'accordant au reste de la chevelure. Le produit se pose en 2 minutes sur cheveux secs en tapotant un peu de poudre avec le pinceau sur les racines. pas d'effet "carton" comme certains mascaras pour cheveux, ou d' effet gras comme certains sticks. Le rendu est juste légèrement plus mat que le reste des cheveux mais c'est imperceptible. il n'est pas nécessaire d'en mettre beaucoup car vraiment couvrant. De plus, ce qui est appréciable, c'est que ça tient extrêmement bien. je n'ai pas encore testé sous la pluie mais la résistance à une séance sportive intensive est parfaite. inutile également d'en mettre tous les jours, ça tient jusqu'au shampoing suivant. Par contre, attention au moment de la pose car en cas de geste un peu large ou de dosage trop généreux, quelques grains de poudre peuvent voler et tacher les tissus fragiles. mieux vaut mettre une serviette sur les épaules, au cas ou. Le conditionnement compact est très pratique, la poudre n'est pas volatile et le pinceau double est bien adapté à l'usage, selon la zone à couvrir. Le produit est un peu cher mais comme il en faut peu pour une tenue prolongée, le rapport qualité /prix est très satisfaisant.
