Definitely a win.
Oh, this little robot is really too cute and fun!He was a Christmas gift for my three year old who is utterly robot obsessed and Kinderbot was the one thing he asked for over and over. We've played with him a few times and he's really fun I think. He's got fun lights, and colors, and sounds. He comes with a little pamphlet that has "secret codes" that you program him with to do things like roll around in different shapes- like circle, pentagon, rhombus, etc. and also explains what the shape looks like. He also has secret codes for things like "walking the dog" which he barks like a dog and rolls around in the directions programmed in the code, or "bulldozer" and makes bulldozer sounds, and "motorcycle" with corresponding sounds. This is also where you incorporate the added shape accessories, and you can set up an obstacle course with those pieces and program him to navigate it.I know, all of this sounds super challenging, but I promise they are VERY simple commands. Most are three buttons. And of course you can come up with your own commands and make him go any directions you want him to!He also makes cute "whoops" sounds if he falls over/gets knocked over. And he rolls very well on carpet. We have a very plush carpet in the living room and he's had no problem getting around.I think it's a very good start for learning how robotics and programming go together.I dont know if it's me or my son who has more fun with this little robot lol.

Very engaging toy!
My almost 5 year old loves this robot. He really likes all robots from Wally to Transformers. I thought this robot looked a little too babyish for him if that makes sense. But he really loves it and it is definitely good for a wide age range. I gave it to him for Christmas and he hasn’t stopped playing with it. I purchased it from amazon weeks before Christmas. He then found it in a picture of amazons toy catalog and was sooo excited and asked for it. But he didn’t yet know it was already under the tree. My kid is very hyper and struggles to focus on something for long amounts of time. This thing engages him and keeps his attention. He listens to the commands and he’s able to achieve some of the robots codes already. He would have gotten bored with any other toy and he’s not bored of this yet. I really recommend this toy for boys and girls.

Fun Learning - Best for Price
My nephew loves this little robot! I bought this for him for Christmas because I like getting him things that help him learn and this robot is really good for a wide age range. He is only 3 years old and doesn't yet understand all the functions, but he loves pushing the buttons and making him talk and move around. As he gets older he can discover new things to do with his robot. The coding is very simple and easy for adults, so I know my little nephew will figure it all out eventually. Of all the toys I looked at with this price point, this one seemed the most interesting and fun. I highly recommend this for anyone with a kid 3 - 6 years old.

Worth every dollar! Hit for 4 year old
I’ve waited a while before I reviewed this because my 4 year old often gets easily bored with toys. This robot isn’t cheap so here we go...... this robot is still a huge hit with my daughter. It was difficult at first for her to grasp the concept of how to operate it but we spent time with her showing her how to use the flash cards and follow the patterns ect to get him to do all the codes. She is now coding on her own at 4 YEARS OLD. She actually just turned 4 in April. This robot was worth every dollar I spent on him!!!!!

Great robot — I just ordered another — but terrible packaging, awful instructions
It took me 30+ minutes to get the robot out of the packaging, another 30 to figure out what it does, and a trip to CVS to get the four C batteries it requires. (Batteries included? Not really. First instruction says replace them immediately.) I was not happy.Despite that start, the robot does a whole lot more than you would guess from the box and instructions: fun preprogrammed actions, code-yourself movements, and a “challenge” quiz that gets progressively harder. Fun lights, music, dance moves. It’s cute, actually, and sturdy, too.My five year old grandson got it all quickly — a useful intro to coding. His three year old brother will get even more years of use from the second one I ordered today.

Cool toy
Best toy ever my girls live this robot, they are age 2 and 4 and they can play with this for many years, there is souch to learn and the robot is so smart it is a billion x better than the ones I dreamed of getting as a child ( I was happy if they could walk) this you is mind blowingly cool, and the girls think so too, I love that he can do tricks and my oldest has figured out how to make him go to certain spots in the house. It's also very durable for a kids toy, I bet it will hold up for a long long time

A robot that does little.
I thought it was really neat at first, the 3 year old i gave it to at christmas not so much. Might be better for 4 or 5 year olds. Robot doesnt move very far only about 4 or 5 inches for each direction and also cant pick up items. Arms do not move unless you position them by this i mean like you position gi joe arms u just kind of set them. Doesnt really do anything but light up, say a few things, and move a few inches this way or that. Now that i wrote that i dont thinks its so neat was cooler when it was in the box just lighting up and making sounds. Id pass on this one.
