All purpose, easy to use footswitch.
It's been a couple of days since I've gotten my hands on this. I didn't have a chance to use it with both of its switches, since the Hosa TRS cable I ordered has not arrived yet. I'm using this with Roland Cube 40XL, especially for the looper. This pedal is really sturdy, in fact it is so sturdy that I find it hard to press in home with my bare feet lol (maybe would be easier to press with shoes/on stage), and I sometimes find myself spending tens of minutes for trying to loop just one phrase. You need to have a really good sense of rhythm to use this for the looper, as Cube 40XL's looper's playing detector that starts recording when you start playing DOES NOT engage when you use the pedal, you need to start playing as soon as you press the pedal (you still can start the looper from the amp itself). Yet, when you do get used to it, it makes wonders. It's also annoying that you have to unplug EVERY cable that's plugged in it to prevent power consumption, which can only be supplied with a 9v battery; another reason for down rating. I recommend this because it is an all-purpose device with latch/unlatch and polarity options, but if you're going to buy this for a Roland Cube, you'd better convince yourself that you really love music and have the time and patience for it, since this is a bit overpriced and MAY(not if you have a really good sense of rhythm) require you to re-record your phrases for the "perfect loop" time after time. EDIT: My cable has arrived, and I've changed my opinion about this pedal. You will still need a sense of rhythm for using this with the looper of a Cube XL amp, but only as much as an average music person would, no more. I was annoyed earlier because I should not have switched the B pedal (the one for engaging the looper) to the "unlatched" mode; it needs to be in the latch mode, and your amp should be in the latch mode as well (to do that, you turn off your amp and press and hold the tap/stop button near your looper while opening your amp again). After doing this, it will be very easy to engage and disengage looper. Keep your A pedal in unlatched mode, since if it is in latch mode it will not only stop the loop, but delete it as well, acting as if you're pressing and holding the tap/stop button on the amp; whereas if you keep it in unlatched, it will stop the loop if you just press it, and remove the loop if you hold it. With this setting on your pedal and your Cube XL amp, and a good guitar and a wah pedal of your preference, you just can't go wrong. You will be all set for rockin' out. Also, note that I only reviewed this item for use with a Cube amp, whereas this is an all-purpose item which you probably can use with hundreds of other items, such as keyboards, other amps, processors, etc. And the absence of a power adapter is unnecessary as the battery is only used for powering up the LED lights which you won't really need. I didn't try it without the battery but I read it in a comment in reply to another comment above on this page. Quote: "Now, with regards to the battery - it is only used to power the LED Indicator...! It is not necessary, or required for foot switch operation. As such it lasts a very long time."

Versatile and Indispensable
The Boss FS-6 Dual Foot Switch is extremely versatile and works for a wide range of applications. I'm a multi-instrumentalist. In my primary band, I play keyboards and saxophones (along with other instruments). For this setup (see photo), I have a block of three FS-6s connected, for a total of six switches. The left three switches are used for sustain on the top, middle, and bottom keyboards. I use the fourth switch to control the rotary effect on organ, which is set to "latch." The final two switches control effects on my saxophone (through a separate FX processor). I also have two additional units which I use for my Roland guitar amp, more keyboard sustains, or whatever else I need at the time. There are several reasons I love these switches. Their extreme flexibility tops the list. Each of the two switches on a single pedal can be hooked up either singly with TS cables, or in tandem with one TRS cable. The switches on the back allow you to change the polarity of each switch, changing it from momentary to latching. When you latch a pedal "on", the LED on that pedal lights. Like most Boss/Roland gear, they're tough and built to last. Finally, the ability to chain them together is fantastic, and makes for a nice, clean setup. There are a couple of cons worth noting. One, they are a bit expensive. In my humble opinion, they are worth every penny, but they represent a healthy investment for something you drop on the floor and step on. Two, they do each require a 9v battery. The good news is, a fresh 9v lasts a really long time in them, especially if you remember to unplug them when not in use. I use rechargeables for all my gig gear, and recharge them before every show, so I can perform without worrying about batteries going out. Overall, these are solid little tools that fit a wide range of situations. You'll never be sorry to have one in your gig bag or studio.

Good product, not so good description.
Does what it's supposed to do. Just remember to unplug the cables when you're not using it, otherwise it remains powered on and drains the battery. The product itself easily rates 5 stars, but I am giving it 4 because Amazon or the seller did not describe it accurately. If you buy the one that's priced like 25% below normal list price, just be aware you might not be getting a new, factory sealed item. I sure didn't. It arrived with a big gray amazon sticker covering the box, a sticker over the box barcode, and the internal packaging already opened even though the listing said nothing about this being a refurbished, returned, or open box item. It still looks and works like new so I decided to keep it. But is an accurate description too much to ask for?

Great Product Works as Designed
As with all Boss / Roland products, the Boss FS-6 performs as designed. I purchased it to control both my Boss ME 20 Multi effects pedal and my Fender Blues Jr amp. The A switch (in non latching mode) allows me to cycle through stored effects banks in my ME 20 and the B switch (in latching mode) allows me engage and disengage the FAT (overdrive) switch on my Blues Jr Amp. Everything works exactly as planned. The FS-6 rugged, compact (fits right into my into ME 20 carrying case) and easy to use. I read a few reviews where people were complaining about batteries...something to complain about. As with most guitar players I don't use batteries in my effects pedals I use an 9 volt AC/DC adapter. Visual Sound offers the "One Spot" AC/DC adapter kit that has a 9 volt battery snap connector adapter. I removed the battery cover, then using a small rat tail file I carefully cut a notch in the battery cover for the snap connector to pass through. I then put rubber feet (purchased at ACE Hardware) on the bottom to allow the snap connector cable...battery problem solved. I also use the FS-6 as a sustain pedal for my Yamaha YPG 225 portable grand piano and a control for my RC-3 Loop Station simultaneously. The possibilities are limited only to your imagination. It is somewhat expensive but it is a Great Product!! If you need a duel switch then I highly recommend purchasing the FS-6.

Boss makes great stuff..but...
I've always liked Boss pedals. They're kinda the standard out there for guitar pedals. I needed this dual switch for my Boss RC-5 Looper. I'm using it mostly to control the drum tracks and start and stop loops. It works great. My one complaint, which I'm betting is everyone's complaint, is there is no way to power this other then a 9v battery. Once tha cable is inserted it's starts drawing power. I really wish they would have set it up where you can power it off by pressing one or maybe both pedals for 2 seconds or something like that so you can keep it plugged into your rig, but doesn't draw power. Ohh well it's a well made Boss pedal otherwise.

Makes my playing so much easier!
I bought this to go with our BOSS acoustic singer amp - it comes with a small foot switch but it was really difficult to hit the button with your foot unless you were looking directly down at it. Not ideal for playing guitar at the same time. I switched to this version and the buttons are a little larger and are more raised up and spaced out in a way that it is much easier to press with your foot and not be looking at the same time. I love using the harmonize that is built into the amp and the foot switch allowed me to turn on and off the harmonizer easily without awkward transitioning mid-song.

Good Pedal, Bad Power
This pedal works exactly how I wanted it to. But the only power is through a 9v battery. No plug in option. It also turns on when you have the 1/4 inch plugged in. So if you accidentally leave it plugged in, the battery will be dead next time you go to use it. Why, oh why?

Heavy Duty Foot Switch
This is a heavy duty sturdy foot switch and looks well made. I run mine off a 33 foot cable and it works perfect. I do not like to stand too close to the amp and that is why I use a long cable. It is powered by a 9 Volt battery which is included with the switch. I have seen some reviews were some are not happy about having to use a battery. I personally like the fact it is run by a battery as then no need to hook it up to a power supply. I am not sure how long the battery will last but no big deal as one can buy a few rechargeable 9 Volt batteries. I use this switch with the Boss Katana - 50 MK11 Amplifier which has 4 channels that one can program to various amp settings. After buying the switch with only two foot switches I assumed that one can only access two channels and not 4 and then thought I should have looked for a switch with 4 switches on it. However it access all 4 channels At the back of the switch are 3 locations to plug the cable into as A or B or AB. To access both Switch A and switch B, one just needs to plug the cable into the middle AB input . A basic guitar cable will psychically fit but will not work so make sure you get the right type of cable. The cable will have two black lines, separating 3 sections. I bought mine from Amazon.ca.. At the back one can flip a switch from "Momentary" to the “Latch” position as if not, one will not be able to access all 4 Channels. With Latch mode, one pushes the switch down, and a channel is then locked in and when one pushes the switch again then the channel is no longer locked in. With the momentary setting one must constantly have the switch held down and that is why one could not access 4 channels unless one can push all switches down at the same time. Have not had this switch a long time or used it a lot but so far I am 100% happy with it and would easily recommend it to anyone. Shipping was also very fast and we all like that.

Worked with Y Cable
Good, small size and sturdy built. 9V Battery included. Connecting from Line A&B Stereo jack did not work for me. However, I used a Y Cable from line A and from Line B from the footswitch and a single stereo jack to the amp and it worked nicely. Now I am able to access four channels from my Katana-50 hands free. I am keeping this.

Excellent quality switch
This is a very good, versatile double guitar amplifier switch. Ideal if, for example, one has a Roland JC-40 (as I do). Yes, they're not cheap (I have two), but they are very high quality and allow me to easily switch the amplifier's built-in reverb, distortion and chorus functions. PS The only slight downside is that these switches require a PP9 type battery, i.e. there is no facility to connect to a pedal power supply. It's fixable, but a bit of a fiddly nuisance.
