I love these clippers, my dogs wish I'd spent the money on dog treats.
Let's face it grooming is expensive, time consuming and stressful. My dogs aren't too crazy about it either. When I took my rescue dogs to the groomer for the first time, I think I was more worried than my dogs. It took the groomer 5 hours to bath and clip Sadie, my chow golden retriever mix and the whole time all I could think about was how terrified and dejected she looked when I left her there. Things did not go as well for Abby, my little spaniel mix. I was only home about 15 minutes when the groomer called for me to come pick her up. It seems that Abby had gotten herself so stressed out that she gave herself a nose bleed! Now, I admit that they both looked adorable with their haircuts and the short clip does make a huge difference in shedding but the problem was how to get the same results with less stress on my fur babies. Besides, my husband was stressed when he saw the $130 plus grooming bill for Sadie and the $50 bill for Abby trim. So, I did a little research and I spoke with the customer service folks at Andis (who were very helpful by the way, steering me away from the expensive clipper I was looking to buy to a cheaper model that would better serve my needs). The customer service rep suggested a single speed rather than a double speed model to keep the blades from heating up so fast and having extra blades to swap in when they get too hot. I took their advice and purchased the Andis 21485 which was a great deal because it came with a carrying case, an instructional DVD, oil and 4 combs. The clipper was pretty quiet and did not heat up on us while we tried, with moderate success, to trim up Sadie's coat before it gets too long and shaggy again. We were not able to get the whole coat done because Sadie decided she no longer wanted to cooperate but since it was our first attempt, I count it as a "win". Once we and the dogs get used to the process and can do a full clip in one sitting, then I will purchase additional blades so we can swap them out when they get too hot. The blades were very easy to change and the combs snapped on and stayed in place till we snapped them off. The clipper was also easy to clean although it would be nice if the company included a cleaning brush with their clippers. I ended up stealing a brush from the old beard clipper that we had tried to use to trim the dogs before. I highly recommend this clipper if you decide to groom your own dogs. It had no trouble cutting through my dogs thick coats. The company was also great at giving advice and never once tried to sell me something I didn't need. I would definitely buy other Andis clippers.

Cat loves this
Our long haired cat pulls out her hair if it gets more than slightly long. She needs clipping about once every month and a half. We had her clipped the first time and she was happy but it was expensive. I ordered these clippers to do clipping myself, which is very easy. The clippers paid for themselves the first clipping. They are quiet and clipped her hair, which is very soft and fine, great. She acts like she is being brushed! I bought them after reading many reviews of various clippers. I am so glad I listened to the comments. They are perfect for my cat!

Good clipper set, but not worth more than $50 in my opinion
I have a 14 lb Nebelung cat who was knotted up from his throat to between his rear legs. He's an outdoor cat so it's hard to keep him brushed out and this breed needs to be brushed every day. This breed has a very fine hair structure which makes it impossible to actually use one of the trimmer attachments and his bad temper didn't allow us to trim quickly. Total trim time with my girlfriend helping, 5 hours. He fought the whole time, but now he's trimmed he's super happy. I managed to score these for a quarter what they go for in Petco here on amazon and for that price they're a winner, but like I said, I wouldn't pay more than $50 for them especially with my cat. Pros: Great construction interchangeable blades doesn't heat up quickly doesn't pull pet's hair (important for cats) fairly long cord Can be operated with one hand Cons: doesn't cut fine hair well slow to cut hair cutting edge heats of fairly hot if you aren't paying attention fairly noisy (louder than the Wahl I use to shave my head with, but the Wahl pulls at my hair) Standard cheesy plastic clipon attachments, though they clip on and not slide on so it's easier to attach them

Disappointed
3-27-22 - Update: I wrote the below review yesterday. Last night, I said, "Okay, maybe if I put a different blade on". So I installed the one that is supposed to get under mats. I don't think it could cut butter! I had to use the old Bonve Pet clipper, which took the mat right off, no problem - without pulling my dog's hair - she didn't mind at all. The Andis wouldn't even cut the brushed out, mat free hair. I am so depressed, I hate returning things, but I can't afford to just throw money down the drain. I'm going to try calling the company tomorrow to see if they have any suggestions. Will update if anything improves. 3-26-22 - I was so hopeful when I ordered this clipper kit. I am retired and with the rising inflation rate, I can't afford to take my toy poodle to the groomer every six weeks. She is not co-operative, hates being brushed and ended up getting several mats. I ordered this Andis because it said, "Powerful rotary motor clipper kit for grooming dogs with heavy coats". Nope, NG. My old Bonve Pet clipper is superior to this Andis - and the Bonve Pet was a fraction of the price of the Andis. The Andis is also louder. Just totally disappointed. I ended up using the Bonve Pet to remove the mats. I'm obviously not a professional, so maybe after some practice my opinion will change - if it does, I'll come back and update. It did, by the way, come with an instructional CD - although the dog being groomed totally did NOT mind getting man-handled by the groomer and probably never had a mat in his life.

Perfect for Grooming my Doodles
I purchased these clippers to groom my labradoodle and goldendoodle instead of taking them to a professional groomer because I don't like leaving my dogs at the groomer's and the cost was getting too high. After reading many reviews, I thought this model would be the best quality for the price for a newbie DIY groomer. I was right. After using them about 10 times now, I remain very pleased with my purchase. The cost was less than two groomings, so I have saved my cost many times over now. As a newbie, I'm very slow and methodical to ensure I don't cut or make a mess of my dogs. It can take me an hour to groom just one of my dogs - and they are both under 40 lbs. I mention this because I haven't run the clippers for an hour straight but I have used them for long stretches and never once did they get hot. They have gotten warm but not hot. When I bought the clippers, I also bought some cooling and lubricating spray but I have never needed to use it to cool the clippers. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Clippers tend to overheat with use
I purchased these clippers to use on my Malshi puppy and felt that since I had only one dog to groom they would be sufficient. They do cut fairly well but I find that the motor overheats easily and the clippers stop requiring me to use clipper spray to cool and then let the clippers sit for a bit before continuing. These are not bargain clippers and should not overheat when clipping one puppy.

Quiet, cat friendly clippers
I tried these clippers in desperation with my long haired cat. I didn't have time to bathe her twice a day every day to keep clumping litter from sticking to her hair. I also didn't have a money tree to pay the vet bills for her licking the litter off her fur so... I clipper cut her rear end where the litter was a problem. There was a learning curve for both my cat and myself in using these but the clippers never scared her and after four attempts I've gotten better. She hasn't been sick and she's far happier with fewer bathes. The clippers do not seem to get warm to the touch until I am ready to stop using them but then I only work on her for 10 minutes at a time. I've used them every other week on average since I got the clipper. I haven't yet had to replace the blade it came with but I have priced them in local stores and I've found that getting new blades won't be difficult or extremely expensive. These clippers definitely fit the bill for my cat and I!

Clipper is noisy and vibrations are strong
I decided to purchase this clipper after reading good reviews and product information online. However I was quite disappointed when I started grooming my two toy poodles with this clipper. Contrary to one of the key selling point of this product - "It has a powerful motor, but it won't scare your pets... The motor is extremely quiet so it won't frighten sensitive pets..." the sound produced was unexpectedly loud and the vibrations from the clipper is strong. I had a hard time trying to calm my pets down when I use the clipper. Compared to other models by Andis, it is not as easy to change the blades as you have to unscrew and screw on the blades. The grooming scissors that came with the kit is not smooth to use. It's tight so you need to exert quite a bit of strength with every snip and it's really tiring for the fingers after 20 or more snips. Would advise potential buyers to review this product physically or other website reviews before buying this clipper.

Not up to the job
Vey disapointed, had to by a 110/240 transformer . The clippers aren't any better than much cheaper ones, when it comes to my Bearded Collie. They took nearly a month to arrive and now I wish I had canceled my order, I did not return them as I thought the postage back to America would have been horrendous. They are no more powerful or quieter than ones I've paid £30 for BITTERLY DISSAPOINTED.

Definietely a Good Investment
This works well. The brand identifies which clipper you need for your breed of dog, and this one works well for the thick coat os a BIchon Malte. It is not cheap, but you do get what you pay for here. Lesser brands do not work well at all.

Buen producto

It works.
It works as it should. The included #10 blade was to fine for my dog. Had to buy a #7 blade. Works good.
