Review: Works great! Perfect mobile solution for laptops. - PLEASE NOTE! This works a little differently than most fingerprint readers. I've found that the key is a light touch or tap. It doesn't work very well when you hard press your finger against it. As long as you do that, it works great! Perfect solution for my work laptop. I can just leave it plugged it, wherever I take it. It's made of a pretty durable metal, so it doesn't concern me that it, or the USB port could get damaged if it were to get bumped or caught on something The installation is a bit roundabout. You have to manually download and install the drivers, but it's not too difficult. Overall, a good buy that I'd recommend!
Review: Works less than 50% of the time, especially after my Windows laptop has been idle for several hours - I keep my Dell business-class laptop running Windows 11 connected to a monitor, so it's never been convenient to use Windows Hello facial recognition to sign in. I was entering my PIN each time and hoped this fingerprint reader would be faster and easier. It works reliably when I "test" it, by locking it and immediately unlocking it, but that's not the real-life situation. If I lock Windows and return after a few hours, the fingerprint reader works less than 50% of the time and I end up having to enter my PIN. I have tried disabling it an retraining it on 3 fingers, but that didn't help at all. I will most likely return it and try another product.

## Features

- Match-in-Sensor Advanced Fingerprint Technology: Combines excellent biometric performance and 360° readability with anti-spoofing technology. Exceeds industry standards for false rejection rate (FRR 2%) and false acceptance rate (FAR 0.001%). Fingerprint data is isolated and secured in the sensor, so only an encrypted match is transferred.
- Designed for Windows Hello and Windows Hello for Business (Windows 10 and Windows 11): Login on your Windows using Microsoft's built-in login feature with just your fingerprint, no need to remember usernames and passwords; can be used with up to 10 different fingerprints. NOT compatible with MacOS and ChromeOS.
- Designed to Support Passkey Access with Tap and Go CTAP2 protocol: Supports users and businesses in their journey to a passwordless experience. Passkeys are supported by >90% of devices, with a wide range supported across different operating systems and platforms.
- Compatible with Popular Password Managers: Supports popular tools, like Dashlane, LastPass (Premium), Keeper (Premium) and Roboform, through Tap and Go CTAP2 protocol to authenticate and automatically fill in usernames and passwords for websites.
- Great for Enterprise Deployments: Enables the latest web standards approved by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Authenticates without storing passwords on servers, and secures the fingerprint data it collects, allowing it to support a company’s cybersecurity measures consistent with (but not limited to) such privacy laws as GDPR, BIPA, and CCPA.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can someone explain to me why this costs $50?**
A: Brand, lack of competition.

**Q: Does it have to plug into laptop directly or can it be plugged into usb hub connected to laptop?**
A: This device can be plugged into any Data Connected USB Standard Type-A Port.
IE as long as your hub can read a USB stick it can read this.

**Q: If it saves fingerprints locally, is it ok to unplug and plug it again? then, do i need to register my fingerprints again, or not?**
A: for PCs, I believe it only stores some kind of a secure token via it's TPM hardware, this is all done via Windows Hello / Windows Hello for Business. It should continue to work once your fingerprint is saved, even if you unplug, and plug it back in. If you were to use it on a different computer, you would need to re-register your fingerprints.

**Q: Why does this not work with macos if it's a standard on-device storage fido2 security key?**
A: this one is compatible with Mac : VeriMark™ Guard USB-A Fingerprint Key
