Easy to use. Makes great fried chicken

Moving from the southeast to the western part of the country, I couldn’t believe it when I realized that House Autry seasoned flour did not exist here! Thank goodness it’s on Amazon! This is the absolute BEST seasoned flour for frying chicken. I love that I can bring the taste of the south into my home with this flour.

I hunted all over for this breading. It is not readily available in the Midwest. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon at a reasonable price. Long ago there was a restaurant chain called Shakey's Pizza who served what were called Super Spuds. Thick slices of potatoes deep fried and breaded with the House Autry brand.We loved those spuds...our entire family. Shakey's is no more, at least in our area, and after trying several other breadings we felt we would never have that wonderful taste again.Now we do!!!!!

This is the perfect breading mix for southern fried chicken! I fried these two chicken thighs a very short while ago (within the last hour or so)and they were delicious! While I've only been oil frying for a short time (a few months - I started late in life!), I've tried a few different approaches to frying. I've used my own seasoned flour mix, I've used this mix with corn flake crumbs (a la Gordon Ramsay), and they're all good. This breading mix by itself, however, is excellent. It is quick, it is perfectly seasoned, and it is delicious.A couple quick notes... Let your chicken come up to nearly room temperature. Bread your chicken as per the instructions on the package. Let your chicken sit while you heat the oil. Then cook. Your oil doesn't need to be deep; 1/4 inch or 7mm is probably sufficient to cook thighs, drum sticks, and thin sliced chicken breasts.Would I recommend this? I just reordered this product, along with the Amazon Peanut Oil in the background of the photo, sitting next to the House Autry product, so yes, I'd highly recommend it. Frying isn't difficult. If you've never done it, watch videos on frying chicken. There's actually a House Autry video with the title, "How to cook delicious, easy, traditional Southern fried chicken" that shows you how to do this right.There's nothing quite like fried chicken, especially if you make it yourself. I really like this batter because I personally do not have to add anything with it. No added seasonings, nothing. Just clean and dry my chicken, put the batter and chicken in a zip lock give it a few sakes, the n drop it in the oil. Fries up perfectly.
