Used as super cute back yard umbrella - great in sand
Great umbrella, but beware: doesn't stay in umbrella stands as well as the heavier market umbrellas. It gets really windy here in New Mexico, and eventually my outdoor umbrellas wear out and break. Tired of spending the money on market umbrellas and wanting something more fun looking, I've been getting these beach umbrella's over the years. I find they're quite durable, and when I eventually have to replace them, it's pretty inexpensive and I don't have to feel terrible about the money I wasted if it breaks. I bought this one this year when my other one blew away completely, but later I found my old one across the street in the brush between my neighbors yards, not even broken!Still, there's one issue with these like I mentioned, which is that they don't stay well in umbrella stands - no matter how tight I try to make the screw to hold it in, they can still blow out when it's very windy (even when closed, because they're light and open easily), and more often upset even the heaviest umbrella stand, and topple over.Remedy: this year I filled a huge terra cotta plant pot with play sand from the hardware store, and I guess since this umbrella is made for sand, this solution has worked perfectly. We've had more than the usual amount of wind this year, and the umbrella hasn't blown away a single time, nor could possibly topple the heavy pot of sand.

CRITICAL MISSING PARTS!!!
Brin g a professional beach go-er, I was really excited about this umbrella. It showed the "handle" to dig into the sand and most important, the drill like tip. Unfortunately, neither came in the box. Now I have to decide if I want to spend $20 more to buy an accessory "holder" or return it and continue my search.

I did not realize until I set them up that they tilt as well like a patio umbrella
Just got back from 9 days at the beach. These umbrellas are the largest and nicest I saw the whole vacation. Very well made, bright colors, and did not get affected by a steady wind at all. I did not realize until I set them up that they tilt as well like a patio umbrella. Very impressed...I don't see why I would not have these for many more summers...great investment. LOVE THEM!!!

Great for my Patio Table!
I order one every other year cuz they fade (on top, but not underneath). The reason I keep getting this one for my deck is that regular umbrellas come in boring colors, and if you do find one with a nice colorful pattern, it only has it on the top (which I can't see) and usually white underneath. I love to be surrounded by color when sitting at my patio table.

Did not get what I ordered
I ordered the Rainbow Tilt Umbrella but what was shipped to me was a purple one. Not thrilled. Didn't want to have to hassle with returning the wrong one.

such a happy umbrella!
how can this thing not make you happy?! I actually used this on my patio - stuck it in our table and used it for an entire spring + summer season... I know it's probably intended for the beach? but it did the trick... it definitely did fade by the time fall arrived. but it was so inexpensive, and I'm sure if I only used it for beach days, it would last a whole lot longer.

Great purchase!
Received the 8' umbrella in very good time. Have taken it to the beach twice and both times the winds were around15mph. The key is to angle the umbrella into the wind when placing in the sand. The 8' coverage is excellent. Thissame umbrella sells at Sams Club this time of year a little cheaper after you figure in price and shipping fees. Thelast one I had like this lasted 3 years and that was going to the beach probably 20 times a year. So its a GREATinvestment. One tip is if the winds are strong, take a plastic grocery bag, fill it with sand and hang it from a panelunderneath the umbrella. This will help the panels stay downward in case of a strong gust. Enjoy!
