This is a movie about the spirit that drives a man. If you can watch the movie without wishing you were a better man, you will never be a better man.

Kids loved it

The Karate Kid has always been one of my favorite franchise cause of the Karate. I’m glad to own Part 2 on DVD as I’m trying to make a collection of the franchise.

Best Karate Kid movie

Format: Blu-ray (gutes Bild, vielleicht nicht so gut wie die Filme heutzutage, aber deutlich besser als DVD)Ton: Deutsch / Englischgeschauter Ton: DeutschDer Film macht genau an der Stelle weiter, an der der erste Film aufgehört hat, und es kommt auf dem Parkplatz zu einer kleinen Konfontation zwischen Kresse dem Sensai des Cobra Kai Dojo und Mr .Miyagi, mit der dieser in typischer Miyagi Manier umgeht-:)In der drauffolgenden Szene fähre Daniel mit seinem Auto zu Mr. Miyagi.Daniels Mutter muss für 2 Monate nach Fresno, und er erfährt bei seinem Sensai, dass er solange bei Mr. Miyagi bleiben darf. Jedoch erreicht diesen kurz darauf die Nachricht, dass sein Vater in Japan sehr krank ist, und möglicherweise bald versterben könnte.So schnell es geht macht sich Mr. Miyagi auf nach Japan zu reisen. Womit er nicht gerechnet hat, ist dass Daniel sein Sparbuch plündert und darum bittet mitkommen zu dürfen.Mr. Miyagi kann Daniel diesen Wunsch nicht abschlagen, und so geht es ab nach Japan.Dort angekommen, stellt Mr. Miyagi fest, dass sein bester Freund, den er vor zig Jahren nach deren Brauch entehrt hat, noch immer den Kampf der Ehre (bis zum Tod!) von ihm fordert. Mr. Miyagi lässt sich darauf nicht ein, da er nicht an so etwas glaubt. Leider läßt ihm Sato, so der Name des Jugendfreundes, keine Wahl, und bei der Vorbereitung auf den Kampf auf Leben und Tod zwischen Miyagi und Sato geschieht etwas Unerwartetes.Während Mr. Miyagi seine Probleme mit seinem Jugendfreund zu lösen versucht, hat Daniel seine eigenen Probleme. Der Neffe des kinderlosen Sato, Chozen, fängt dauert mit ihm Streit an, was auch zu zeitweiligem Einstecken von Prügel für Daniel führt, während er sich mit einer Japanerin seines Alters (die anscheinend erste Rolle von Tamlyn Tomita, die danach Gastauftritte in zahlreichen Serien, wie z.B. J.A.G., Eureka, Stargate Atlantis, usw. hatte) Kumiko immer mehr anfreundet, und es über reine Freundschaft irgendwann auch hinausgeht, kommt es als Chozen Kumiko in seine Gewalt bringt, und Daniel zu einem Kampf auf Leben und Tod zwingt, zum bereits lange ausstehenden Kampf zwischen den beiden...Fazit: Für mich noch etwas besser als der erste Karate Kid, da man Daniel anmerkt, dass er weiter reift, ohne bereits "Mr. know it all" zu sein. Er ist nach wie vor ein Teenager, aber gereifter.Für mich eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

Habe jeden Teil von Karate Kid! Ich mag diese Filme, mit dem Kulttrainer, der leider viel zu früh gestorben ist

One thing I never took from Karate Kid 2 as a child was the lessons it teaches me now as an adult. The second flips the coin on the story as this time it is more focused on Mr Miyagi's journey into returning home to Okinawa to visit his terminally ill father whilst settling a feud with an old friend.Daniel still is a huge focus in the film as he takes a shine to a local village girl Kumiko very much like the first film but as always a bully in the shape of Chozen Toguchi (nephew of Miyagi;s old friend / nemesis Sato) is waiting to batter poor Daniel to a pulp. The film concentrates on a much more father / son relationship bringing Daniel and Miyagi closer together as they deal with the loss of their own fathers but teaching you a number of lessons along the way about the importance of the parent child bond. The sequel certainly has a much more grown up feel about it as its a more real world story and no tournaments in sight so it had to look for new ways to dramatize the story but also do its best to keep that competitive feel like the first film did so well with.There is a UK Region B available but sadly its now out of print and going for £15+ on all trading sites. Luckily the mighty Italians have released the same Blu-Ray at a much more reasonable price so don't be overpaying for the UK edition. It has zero extras but the UK one had none also so no loss, the cover is new and actually OK. I would have preferred the original but this is actually a decent looking print so credit where it due. The HD quality is spot on, its the best its ever going to luck. Make sure to invest into this Italian edition, you will have no regrets.
