Medium Bell Siphon for 6" Media

I'have just been tired of building everything I want. Wasn't sure about buying a Just ponics bell siphon but I have been very well pleased. I added it to my system and it's been running, without a flaw from the first day I got it. The design is really nice. I will be buying more.

The media could not be loaded. Wanting to support a small business and a USA made product, I purchased the syphon for 20 gal setup. I had had a larger aquaponics system running on a bell siphon that I built. Not having the time to build another one, I opted for the Justponics siphon.I ended up bringing over the old valve from the previous setup to adjust the water flow because the siphon wouldn't stop emptying into the tank. It worked for a few cycles and then went back to continuously running. Due to the inconsistency of the siphon, I added a temporary carbon filter to keep the water cleaner. I went back and forth readjusting the pump flow, but It would work for a few cycles and then start up again. Now, I have to unscrew the plastic cover to allow air in, so that it stops that continuous drain. I think I will have to just build my own again. NOT worth the price.***********UPDATE: This syphon got to the point when it continuously drained with no break. I tried drilling a small hole in the clear part to see if maybe it just wasn't getting enough air - didn't work. Taped up the drilled pinhole until I could build another syphon. The continuous draining was terribly annoying and the fact that I haven't been able to plant anything in it this whole time was just as frustrating. I finally had a few minutes to build my own syphon. I ended up keeping the bottom portion of the purchased unit as it was easier to work with the hole I already drilled for these components. I got rid of the clear, plastic, screw-on piece and replaced it with the components that I built. It worked correctly right from the start. Amazing! And my own build has been completely reliable, breaking when it's supposed to with no leaking. It was also much cheaper!

It works fine at first, but because of the small size and the fact there is always some leakage down the drain tube there is a very small window to tune the pump feed to the grow bed to get the syphon to stop reliably. It is "working" at the moment on a brand new system but I have my doubts on how well it will work once the system is up and running with plants and fish.

Used this for an aquaponics setup on a 40 gallon tank with an 8” deep grow bed and it’s been working fantastic. It was exactly what I needed for a successful setup.
