The key difference between Artisan and conventional oils is its ability to thin and clean up with water. Hazardous solvents are not necessary for Artisan and artists can enjoy a safer painting environment, making it ideal for artists who share a work space, schools or painting at home. Like traditional oil color, Artisan Water Mixable Oil Color is made from linseed oil and safflower oil. The only difference is the linseed oil and safflower oil used in Artisan have been modified so that they will mix and clean up with water. Artisan has been specifically developed to appear and work just like conventional oil color. The depth of color, buttery consistency, light fastness, opacity/transparency, performance and drying times of Artisan, allow artists to use this range for all oil color techniques. This beginners set includes 6 colors in 1.25 oz. (37 ml) tubes, including one each of Cadmium Yellow Pale Hue, Permanent Alizarin Crimson, French Ultramarine, Phthalo Green (Blue Shade), Yellow Ochre and Titanium White. ## Features - Specifically developed to appear and work just like conventional oil color - The key difference between Artisan and conventional oils is its ability to thin and clean up with water - Beginners Set that includes 6 colors in 1.25 oz. I have been painting with acrylics what are the differences? Thanks** A: It's still an oil paint, and the use of water while painting means that the water component dries within a few days; but, the oil base itself means that the thorough complete drying time is six months to a year, before you can varnish it. **Q: If only water is needed, what is artisan h2o med linseed oil multicolor for?** A: I do use water mixable linseed oil in preparing my canvas and also for blending. I don't use water in any way during painting. The advantage in using water mixable oil paint is the clean up and no chemical smell. **Q: does it mean that the medium for these is water?** A: It means you can use water to thin your paint and wash your brushes. Still use a bit of soap on your brushes when washing. The drying time is a bit faster than regular oil paint too. **Q: Can i use these with normal linseed oil? i can't buy the linseed oil for water mixable oils where i live. thanks!** A: Yes. My bottle says it is linseed oil. You won't bNeed much. My bottle is 8.4 ounces and only 1 or out of it after a year of once a week painting. ## Frequently Bought Together - Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Color Paint, Beginners Set, 1.25-oz (37ml) Tubes, Set of 6 - Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour, 6.75-oz (200ml), Titanium White - Winsor & Newton Artisan Linseed Oil, 250ml (8.4-oz) bottle --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/1537107-winsor-and-newton-artisan-water-mixable-oil-paint-beginners-set](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/1537107-winsor-and-newton-artisan-water-mixable-oil-paint-beginners-set) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
