Menstrual Cup - Reusable Period Cup – Medical-Grade Silicone

Regarding a menstrual cup in general: I want to shout from the rooftops about how amazing this is! For the first time since I hit puberty, I don't have any worries about my period. It took a few tries to really get the hang of inserting and removing the cup, and it required a new familiarity with my own anatomy, but it went much better than I expected. I've found the punch-down fold works the best for me and opens consistently without anything more than wiggling the bottom of the cup. It typically takes a bit of pushing with my pelvic floor muscles to get the cup into a position where I can get a good grip to break the seal and remove it, but after a bit of practice I can do it fairly quickly. I also find I have to fold the cup a bit in order to pull it out comfortably - once I have the bottom pinched and the seal broken, I work it down to where I can use my pointer and middle fingers to wrap the bottom of the cup around my thumb on the other side, a bit like the "C" or "U" fold. Fair warning: you get a good look at the fluids whenever you empty the cup. If you're squeamish, it can be pretty gross, but I think it's really cool to be able to get an accurate measurement of exactly how much is coming out. When I first heard about menstrual cups, I didn't think I could ever use one; I just wasn't that comfortable with my own anatomy, and the idea of having to reach two fingers inside to remove it was enough to keep me from trying it. However, after doing a lot of research, I decided it was worth a try; if it was really that bad, all these other women wouldn't be raving about theirs! It took me two days to be comfortable with using it, and with more and more practice I'm taking less time to remove, empty, and reinsert it. For all you girls/women out there who are nervous about giving it a try, you can do it! Regarding the Lunette Cup specifically: I have not tried other menstrual cups, but I went with the Lunette because I couldn't find any complaints about it, unlike the Diva Cup. My cervix is at an average depth - on the first day of my period, I can feel it with the tip of my middle finger just before my second knuckle reaches my vaginal opening (Seriously, ladies, find your cervix! I was intimidated, but it was easy). I have no trouble getting a good seal with the Lunette Cup, and it sits comfortably with the base of the cup (where it meets the stem) tucked just behind my pubic bone. I don't have any desire to remove the stem on this cup; it is soft and flexible, and I only feel it for a few minutes after insertion or after using the restroom, and it isn't much more noticeable than a tampon string. The ribs/rings at the base of the cup make removal very easy; without them, the silicone would likely be too slippery to get a good grip, making removal tricky. I have heard that the suction holes around the rim of the Lunette are larger than those on other brands, and I have never had an issue with them clogging; they clear without any effort when I rinse the cup in the sink. I do not know how the stiffness of the silicone for this cup compares to that for others, but I have no issue keeping the cup folded while I insert it, and it always pops open from a punch-down fold without any problems. Final thoughts: I'm a believer! I will be hard-pressed to go back to pads or tampons for very long, if at all. If you're curious or have reservations of your own, please ask me questions! I just finished my first cycle using this Lunette cup and thought it'd be a good time to post a review. Overall Experience: On the day I knew my period was coming, I was able to put the cup in and leave in all day just in case! It was great not having to worry about it or checking all the time to see if it was time to put a tampon in. On the second day, when it had actually started flowing, I wore the cup for about 6-7 hours and it worked great! No leaks at all! I was like WOW, do I already have this down? (I read A LOT of reviews and most said there is a learning curve, which I do agree with, but I was surprised at how easily I got it!) On the third day, which is probably my heaviest, I wore the cup for about 9 hours and it didn't leak once again! I was still so surprised. On the fourth day, this is when it all changed. This day is heavy too and a few hours after putting it in, it didn't feel quite right down there so I checked it out and it leaked! Yes leaked! I was freaked out because I was at work and there was blood everywhere (sorry, TMI). Since I was freaked out I wasn't able to reinsert it so for the time being I had to put a tampon in (which I hated doing, I could already tell the difference and I hated it!) On the last day, I was determined to make it work again since it worked so well in the beginning... And it did! I wore it for 11 hours with no leaks at all. Woohoo! Insertion/Removal: So far I have found the recommended "C" fold to work best for me even though it is a little wide (I am not a virgin so that may help). It pops open really easy! Plus I don't feel it at all, it's SO much more comfortable than a tampon. I ran 2 times while the cup was in and it worked great still but it did work itself up pretty far and at first I freaked out but did the "bearing down" technique and it wiggled down. To remove it I just always pinch the bottom and wiggle it and then take it out. So I never had a problem removing it or it getting stuck. I also never found it too terribly messy. Seal/Position: So the key is to get it in the correct position and to make sure it is "sealed". I am pretty sure the day it leaked I accidentally inserted it too far up and it wasn't sealed all the way. So it should sit LOW! I still have the stem on mine (doesn't bother me!) and it does stick out a little or you can feel it right inside. It is hard to turn it completely to seal it, I just tend to wiggle it up and down and make sure it's open (sometimes it feels flat to me but still works!) and then I tug on the stem and if it doesn't budge then it's sealed! I recommend wearing a liner at first just in case (that's what I did) and eventually once I get the technique down 100% I will stop wearing a liner. I still give this cup a 5 star rating even though I did have that bad leaking experience because overall it was so great! I will never go back to tampons!

ABOUT ME: 21-year-old, virgin, never used a tampon let alone a menstrual cup. I heard of menstrual cups on Facebook (The Diva Cup) and had done a ton of research on cups and found Lunette instead of Diva. The Lunette definitely has better reviews than the Diva as the Lune Group Company has a quiz you can take to ensure you get the proper sized cup for YOUR body. Not all cups are the same! PACKAGING/PRICE: When my cup arrived, it was in its nice little box, just like advertised. The cup is 110% worth the $40. INSERTION: (Boiled my cup previous to use) it's is a little tricky, but I soon caught onto it and putting it in/taking it out became a breeze, don't be scared to get to know yourself down there (just make sure your hands are clean)! Find where your cervix is to ensure you are placing the cup properly to avoid leaks. I do want to mention that when you are inserting the cup, to make sure it's wet around the edges (I just use warm water) it will make getting the cup in much easier. FOLDS: I like to use what's called the "punch fold" as I find it easiest for me when inserting the cup but there are other folds that you can easily look up online if you find that the punch fold doesn't work for you. USING: I didn't even feel the cup when I was using it. I basically forgot I was on my period. I am able to workout, wear what I want, and do what I want without having to worry about leaks or changing my pad. You can safely wear the cup up to 12 hours, which I loved. Even on my heaviest flow day, I didn't have any leaks and was able to go out with friends without having to worry about my period. I also wore it overnight, no leaks! REMOVAL/CLEANING: When it is time to empty your cup, it's super easy and not as "gross" as some girls may think. Always, always, always wash your hands before removing your cup! I found it easiest to sit down on the toilet when removing it, I just reach my index finger and thumb slightly in, pinch the grippy handle and pull SLOWLY, it's not a race! You may hear a slight "pop" when the cup releases the suction, that's when you pinch the cup from the bottom and pull it out. Cleaning is easy as well: I always rinsed mine with cold water until it was clean, then warm water to sanitize it. Then you are good to pop it back in! After your period is over, just boil it and put it in its storage bag until next time! Always boil your cup before and after every period :) OVERALL: I encourage you to try a menstrual cup, it WILL make your life easier during your period!! I am happy that I finally did, my period is easier to handle and not so dreadful thanks to this little pink cup.

This.Is.AMAZING! I was researching which cup to use because I do not like pads or tampons. Pads made me feel like I was wearing a diaper and were always getting misshapen during the night and tampons dried me out so much it hurt sometimes to pull them out. Cups are where it's at, but this one in particular. I've only used two: Soft Cups and Lunette. SOFT CUPS: I started off with the soft cups because they were at my local pharmacy for the first time around the time I started researching. They were okay. Little better than a tampon. Still some leakage, but not as much, but I still had to wear a pad or panty liner to catch those spots that would leak. Could wear them for long periods of time, but they would not stay in place and I would ultimately go to the restroom frequently and see that half of the cup was coming out of me. On top of that the Soft cups have a very large rim. VERY large! Which is okay if you have a wide vagina, but if not it's very uncomfortable. One I would stay away from for younger girls just hitting puberty. The biggest pro for soft cups is that they are available in most pharmacies now. The biggest con is that they are disposable, and just like with pads and tampons you have to keep buying more and more and they come in very small amounts and you use up a lot of them at first trying to get the hang of it. LUNETTE MENSTRUAL CUP!: I love it! I'm on my second period using this cup and I just love it. NO LEAKING (when you put it in correctly and BEFORE you start your period). Perhaps I didn't experience much of the frustration with getting it in as other reviews I've read because I had some experience with the soft cups, but after a couple tries and some adjustments (found myself cutting off many of the ridges on the stem for more comfort) I've found the fastest and most comfortable way to get it in there and once you learn that you'll be completely comfortable and barely remember it's in there. I love that it is reusable so I don't have to buy another one unless I lose this one or (if I'm picky) it gets discolored. You can wear it no matter how light or heavy your flow is. You can actually wear it before your period arrives when you expect it so there are no leaks whatsoever. I've only had one leak with this cup and that is because I didn't put it in properly. I've found that wiping the lining of my vagina before putting the cup back in helps secure it in place. BE WARNED, this product is not for the squeamish. I'm still surprised when I meet women who can't stand the sight of blood or don't like their vagina's. If you are one of them stay away from this product. You need to be very comfortable touching yourself and getting messy using this product, especially if you have a heavy flow. There are so many awesome things I can say about this cup, but the biggest pros are: (1) It's reusable, (2) It's comfortable, (3) It stays in place, (4) It's cost effective (buy once, use forever), (5) you can leave it in for hours at a time without worrying about leaking or toxic shock, (6) you can start using before your period, (7) It really is leak proof when you use it correctly and the right size -- I wore it on my wedding day. I trust it that much. The only con is it's messy. That's it. You have to pull it out, pour out the contents and take it to a sink to wash it, which may seem like an inconvenience if you are not at home or in a personal area, but there is a simple solution to this problem; make sure you're at home or in an area that is a little more personal before taking it out. This isn't a pad or tampon you have to switch every couple of hours. You can leave this in for HALF A DAY! I've actually left it in for longer when I had to and no problems.

People are not lying when they say that this product is life changing! My flow is very inconsistent, some days are really heavy and some are super light and there's just no way for me to predict when that will be so I would sometimes remove a tampon after several hours that was nowhere near saturated, that would irritate the tissues and feel very uncomfortable. I also would often feel tampons while wearing them and hated it. I also can't stand pads because they feel like a hot, sweaty sauna down there. So I thought I was stuck with tampons and the uncomfortable threat of TSS hanging over my head. Thankfully one day I decided to ask Google if there were other options and lo-and-behold I discovered the menstrual cup. I only wish I had known about it sooner!!! After quite a bit of research and review reading I decided on the lunette because it seemed somewhat narrower and easier to clean. It has been pretty awesome. People talk about the learning curve and it's true one exists, but it really only took me a couple tries to get the hang of it, not several months. The design is great and learning different folds for insertion really helps. The fold they tell you to use on the box isn't the best for everyone. The one that works best for me is the Origami fold. Some people talk about using it in public restrooms as a problem, but I just bought a small squirt bottle to keep (empty) in my purse that I fill up with water before I enter the stall and can use that to rinse it before putting it back in. I also keep a small pouch of disposable wet-wipes in my purse to clean off my fingers and dispose of those in the tampon box in the stall. Easy peasy, and the wipes and bottle take up less room in my purse than the tampons and pantiliners that I used to carry around with me all the time! Over the long run these are so much cheaper, easier and more user friendly, not to mention earth friendly, than other options. I seriously wish everyone knew about them haha I know they might not be the best option for everyone, but I feel like a lot more people would use them if they knew they existed! If you're having doubts I would just go for it, I haven't regretted leaving tampons and pads behind one bit!! **One side note** I did a "dry run" I.E. I put it in before my period to try and get a feel for it. (You're vaginal canal and uterus are shaped slightly differently when you're on your period so dry run is not all that helpful, though it went in just fine) I didn't put it in necessarily correctly and the cup migrated upward and got pretty well suctioned to my cervix. I couldn't feel any discomfort, but when I tried to remove it it was much farther up and breaking the suction seal was slightly uncomfortable and I could only grab the bare end of the little handle, which was slippery so I couldn't pull. BUT you don't need to go to a doctor if this happens! IT WILL COME OUT. Relax, breathe, get in a nice bath and bear down as if you're trying to have a bowel movement. The muscles will begin to push the cup downward then you can SLOWLY wiggle it downward until it comes out. If this happens to you you're best option is to remain calm. If you panic your muscles tense up around it and it gets stuck even worse. Trust me, you'll be just fine and the cup is STILL better than tampons.

I feel kind of odd reviewing a menstural cup but this product has changed my life for the better and I have to share the good news. I have been using the Lunette cup (clear) for a little over 2 years now and will never, ever go back to tampons again. A little background. I have always had a heavy flow that lasted several days with severe cramping in the first two days. I have had one child, c-section, but after fully dilating and 45 minutes of unsuccessful pushing. I am mentioning that because they tell you to get different sizes based upon pre or post childbirth. I ordered size 2. After childbirth, I had a Paragard IUD inserted. With the Paragard, my flow in the first few days is a bit heavier than normal but a lot heavier than the average person. This meant I was changing the Ultra Plus size tampons every hour for the first day and every 2-3 hours the second day. Even with frequent changing, I had a lot of leaks. Not fun. With the cup, I empty it every 4 to 5 hours the first day, and 3 times a day on the second day. No leaks but I wear a panty liner when in public on the first day just in case. After the second day, I empty it in the morning and before bed. So easy. This makes emptying it in public a non issue for most of my cycle and it would probably be a non issue everyday for most people with normal flows. I don't know how this cup compares to other cups but I chose the Lunette after extensive research. This cup supposedly holds the most compared to the Diva and Moon cup. It does hold a lot. It is much more comfortable than a tampon and my cramping is not as bad when I use the cup. I am not sure what about the cup lessens cramping pain but I had to use tampons last week for a couple of days because I was out of town when my period started and the cramping was awful. There is a learning curve. At first, I was afraid to cut the stem and it took a few cycles to get good enough at removing it without making a mess. I always keep wet wipes in my purse for this reason. If I have to empty it in public restrooms, I simply empty it, wipe it out with toilet paper, and put it back. I use wet wipes to clean my hands a little before leaving the stall. At home, I empty it and rinse it with water in the sink. I used to wash it with soap every day but I think this caused a yeast infection. If you must wash it, do not use antibacterial soap as this will interfere with the natural bacteria populations in your vagina. Before the first use and after the last use, I sterilize it by putting it in boiling water for 10 minutes. Overall, this is an awesome cup and I totally recommend it for anyone with a heavy flow. I have heard that IUDs are bad for the cup but I have not had any problems. Feel free to ask any questions.

8/17: bought a clear one for wanted a dye free one and this time i didn’t buy it from Amazon themselves like i did purple one. bought it from a seller with 100% feedback for less and well not saying seller is selling copycats (at least not knowingly) but, this one has a weird scented like chemical/rubber smell. like it was soaked in some kind of liquid that has a slight scent which absorbed into cup permanently for even after washing it with cup cleaner and boiling it for 20 mins twice, the smell is still there! there was no real smell on my purple one when i received it other than packaging smell that went away after washing and boiling it so i don’t believe this is normal at all.. check and boil your cup before you cut off stem so you can return it if still stinks like this, i didn't and now am stuck with a cup i will not use. this is my 4th cup in one week and i have ordered one more brand today (juju) which that one will more than likely be my last cup since it is the longest, has no irritating ridges on stem like this lunette cup has and it has the perfect firmness of 4 like this lunette cup has.. In the end after starting out with a soft & small cup and moving on up through the firmness and sizes, this lunette model 2 cup was the best fit for me in firmess and the length size (2.80" including stem) was better than others & acceptable even though it still rode up in me a tad bit farther than i like BUT it has one major drawback (for me), them making the stem flat with rough ridges, meant to be there for a better grip (which definitely works at that), overlooked the fact that those rough ridges would irritate a lot of us women down there who aren't perfectly straight in there or swell up, the stem feels like sandpaper when it rubs/pokes against your wall (especially when you sit).. Because of that squared flat ridge stem (which i cannot cut off since i need to keep it long since cups ride up in me), this cup turns out to be the most unconfortable of all the cups, yet it is my favorite for it is the best fitting one and i was totally in love with it upon first use because i used the C-fold (which doesn't work well with the softer cups - the fold down works best with those) and started putting it in and loosen my grip a little too early and it went halfway in crooked, yet i was able to keep pushing it in and it popped open just like that ---no pushing around cup needed, no sticking finger up there like i was digging for gold or something, no twirling 360 and no having to take cup back out 3-5 times on average because it just wouldn't close up no matter what (that part with first cup almost made me say the heck with this after a 15min bathroom time that made me want to throw a fit but, i went straight online afterwards and bought the aneer cup sterilizer thing that came with 2 cups so i would not give up)... this Lunette ci- really was the easiest cup of them all to insert, it truly does pop open in there easily even if swelled up in there and for that alone, this cup is worth every penny IF stem doesn't end up bothering you or if it does you don't mind cutting it off if your cervix isn't higher up)!! With that said, i am pretty sure when the JUJU #3 cup gets here it will be my last cup and more than likely it will be the best for 'my' body and my sanity, if by chance it is not, than i will deal with the stem on this lunette (maybe the rough edges can be rounded off anna cup: small - firmness i think is a 1 or 2, way TOO SOFT to pop open in you. aneercup: small & large - firmness 3 (the large is pretty good, do like this one better then lunette but, firmness of lunette is best) this purple lunette model 2 cup - firmness 4 (soft yet stiff) my next cup JUJU 3 high pelvic - firmness 4 (Longest cup available i believe, 3.07" including stem) -the one important thing i learned in my menstrual cup adventure is DO NOT buy menstrual cups with a firmness under 3, they will make you irritable and cause leaks for they do not open up very easily and the tricks given by others do not work well on those!! -I think the aneercup sterilizer machine with the 2 cups (SM & L) for $30 something is a better choice than one lunette for beginners, firmness is in middle, its comfy all around and it closes up decently (not automatically like this lunette though), usually 2 tries max and i had it in perfectly. once you get the hang of it, you will know; which size cup is best for you, whether you need to move on to a brand with a shorter cup or a longer cup, wether you need a cup that holds more fluids, and wether you need a softer or firmer cup (if you swell up & are tight down there, firmer is better, the softer cup just get squished up and are a pain to get opened in there and will leak).. UPDATE 4/18: yikes i wrote a book above instead of a review!! Anyhow, raised rating from 4 stars to 5 stars, i fixed the scratchy grip rings around stem by trimming them all off with my 'cuticle cutter' (gets closer than a nail clipper) and rounded off the stem end sides so corner of it doesn't poke on my sides. now stem feels smooth but, still has hairline grip rings around stem and i now love it..

I've been intrigued about menstrual cups for a year or so and finally took the plunge and bought one. I did some research on the various types of menstrual cups and decided on the Lunette because it seemed the smallest and I liked the idea of the stem being shorter (more on that in a little). My flow isn't heavy - I only use light tampons - so I bought model 1. I'm in my early 20s, no kids. There is definitely a learning curve to using this product. For my first cycle using it, I only used it when I was at home and could adjust, take my time getting it in, etc. It was a bit tricky getting it inside on the first try, but by the end of my cycle, it was no problem. I found it easiest to put it while standing up. After a few minutes of wearing it, I no longer really feel it inside me and sometimes forget its in there! I still wear a liner while wearing the cup, but that's more out of paranoia. I have note experienced any leaking at all (not a single spot!) so I'm sure I'll stop wearing the liners over time. I've worn it at home, at work, at the gym, in bed, and always feel comfortable. Going to the bathroom is no problem - it is separate holes after all. I feel some pressure on the cup when I pee, but the cup doesn't move. Taking the cup out is certainly the hardest part. This is where I regret getting a cup with a shorter stem, as I guess I misjudged the size of my cervix. After a few hours of wearing the cup, it seems to travel 'up' a little, so I have to reach in quite a bit to pull the cup out. Once I get a good grip on the stem, the cup just pops out, but it certainly makes the whole process messier than it might be for others. Also, the first few times I tried to take it out, I was convinced it was stuck inside me and started freaking out., which didn't make it any easier! After calming myself down, I realized it was a heck of a lot easier to get the cup out while sitting (as opposed to standing like when putting it in). When taking the cup out the first few times, take a few deep breaths and relax. You WILL get it out! To clean the cup, I first tip the contents in the toilet and then go to the sink and rinse the cup in cold water. I'm hesitant to have to deal with this while in public/at work, but thankfully I don't need to change the cup too many times during the day. I change the cup in the morning, after work, and before bed. But again, my flow is quite light (thank you birth control). Before my cycle starts and after the last day, I boil the cup in water for 5 minutes to sanitize it. Overall, I really like using the cup and recommend those who are curious to just give it a try. It is a lot more comfortable than tampons/pads and I'm not constantly worried about leaking throughout the day. Even if you don't experience the too-short-stem issue like me, there's a lot more touching than with tampons/pads. If that makes you uncomfortable, a cup may not be for you. In time, I may try a different cup with a longer stem, but for now, I'm happy with my Lunette! While the initial cost may seem steep, it will soon pay for itself now that I've stopped buying tampons and pads. And with the cup, I don't have to stock my car, desk at work, purse, gym bag, etc. with tampons, liners, and pads 'just in case' or worry about being somewhere without a tampon when I need to change it. The cup has made my period so much simpler! Now if only it cured those mood swings.... :)

I really wanted to like this but it just did not work for me. It leaked significantly each time I tried and the pressure was uncomfortable. I did try adjusting but to no avail. Was very tricky getting it in place and messy when it came out.

La coupe menstruelle, ou la cup pour les intimes, c'est franchement géniale ! Economique, écologique c'est déjà top sur le papier mais question hygiène de vie c'est tellement plus confortable que les tampons et les serviettes ! Avant de la découvrir, j'utilisais essentiellement des tampons, et j'étais très asséchée à la fin de mes règles, il m'était donc douloureux de changer de tampons en fin de cycle. Là c'est la solution idéale, la cup ne m'assèche plus, je n'ai plus du tout de douleur pendant mes menstruations (douleurs liées à l'assèchement, celles dues simplement à mes menstruation sont toujours là bien sur, c'est quand même magique). La cup me facilite également beaucoup la vie, en début de cycle, à flux abondant je la vide le matin (avant le travail) et le soir (avant d'aller me coucher) puis sur la fin de ma période, à flux moins abondant, je ne la vide qu'une fois par jour (le matin). Elle se fait totalement oubliée dans la journée, même à la piscine ! (un tampon peut gêner à la piscine puisqu'il gonfle, avec la cup tout va bien je ne m'en préoccupe même pas) Concernant la mise en place et le retrait, il faut un minimum connaître son corps évidemment mais je vous rassure le coup de main se prend très vite. Petit conseil pour le retrait à celles qui se lancent : utilisez vos muscles du périnée les filles ! Vous trouverez pleins de vidéos et de témoignages sur youtube, mais franchement si vous hésitez, ne réfléchissez plus foncez !! C'est révolutionnaire, j'adore ma cup ! En ce qui me concerne, le changement est définitif, je ne veux plus revenir à l'époque des tampons et serviettes hygiéniques.
