Soo many uses it’s now a staple in the cabinet
I didn’t use this for car door edging. I used it to edge DIY lids for aquariums. I made the lids out of twinwall polycarbonate which provide rigidity and allow 80% of light through. One drawback is that the airspace of the twinwall is exposed at the ends and water will get inside. I used this tape to seal the edges. It is crystal clear, completely waterproof and sticks well to the polycarbonate. The lid looks fabulous on my rimless tank and does not detract from the “glass box” look. I’ll be making this style for all future fish tanks. I did let it cure after application for 24 hours before exposing it to the wet environment. It sticks well, but you can also remove it without leaving an adhesive residue. I’m finding all sorts of uses for this tape now. It’s silicone under a shiny clear flexible and slightly stretchy plastic. It’s so clear that it doesn’t detract from the appearance of anything I’ve used it on. I have an old 1960s metal fishtank hood and I kept cutting my hand on the sheet metal. I used this tape to edge the sharp edges and now I don’t get cut. And it doesn’t look bad. Previously, I might have chosen electrical tape, but this is a much better solution. I’ve used it to edge glass And patch a pinhole on an inflatable plastic alpaca. It’s: Crystal clear - surprisingly so 100% waterproof Sticks to a variety of surfaces Doesn’t leave a residue when removed Provides slight thickness and padding Easy to apply Conforms around gentle curves Easy to cut Can be repositioned before you press it down I don’t need to edge any car doors, but aside from a possible challenge to apply it straight (it is basically tape after all), I think it would work fine.

So easy to install and you don't even notice it is there
I got this because my dog keeps scratching up the paint to look out the window. This was so easy to press down and adhere. You can't even see that it is on the ledges. Don't forget to clean the ledges very thoroughly first. I got some dust on one, and it would not come off the tape.

Let’s see
Not the easiest to work with because cars have curves and this does not curve. Is it beautiful? No but it isn’t terribly visible unless you’re looking right at it. Does it seem durable? Yes. I will update once it has been some time though. I will also say that one roll was not enough for the thresholds of all 4 doors of my suv. I have to buy another roll to do the last door.

Too Thick - Better to buy Scotch clear tape for school
Just a thick tape with adhesive. Too thick and because it is too thick, it is obvious that you have taped the car door with it. And dirt started collecting to tape edge/side due to the thickness, so it will become more obvious that you have a tape on the car. It is good for protecting your car door edge for sure due to the thickness. Advice - buy clear wrap withOUT adhesive that you just spray water on and attach to the car. This tape will affect the aesthetic of the car (unless you are not concerned of looks but only to protect car door edge).

Hard to work with. But very thick.
Hard to work with for door plate. Very hard to not have bubbles and despite being very sticky, the edge rolled up on the first day from the door seal contact. I did it on 3 doors and decided to remove it the same day. I can install tint and wrapping film very well, but I couldn't get this to look good on the door plate. Maybe you can do better, or maybe it will work on flatter areas. Good luck.

Looks great!
I just purchased a 2020 RAV4 XSE Hybrid. Although I installed OEM door sill protectors, it still left an inch or so unprotected. I ordered the 2” width and cut 14” for the front, 8” rear and sliced the pieces in half. I’ve always found that slightly rounding the corners with scissors helps with longevity. I also used a heat gun to soften the material before applying to help with adhesion. It is a little tricky to apply because of air bubbles, this tape doesn’t like to be pulled up and reapplied because it’ll stretch and crinkle up. Fortunately there’s plenty of material to start over which I did several times before getting it right. We’ll see how it holds up over time.

Not an exciting thing but the thick flexible clear tape does exactly what it is supposed to do, and one year on, it is still in place.

It is a thicker material which I liked. I used it to protect the aluminum sill plate on the car it was rhe correct width for my project. Remember when trimming it is thick.
