A Good Bad Guy.. I Believe..
First things first.Amplification level: [from 7 o'clock (min) to 5 o'clock (max)] - at 10-11 you may go deaf… Using over-ear open headphones with 32Ω impedance.Listened to various artists :[FLAC 24 Bit/ 96-192kHz] - the level of volume seems to be a bit lower than expected, but I think it depends on who & how made a digital copy of vinyl (and BTW, what's the condition of that vinyl?)..[MP3] - you will go deaf at approx 8-9...I'm a newbie to Hi-Res audio, so don't judge me harshly please. Yes indeed, this little bad guy is functioning pretty well. I've never expected it to behave so strongly in terms of amplification. Let me tell you what I don't like - it's American type of plug (and this isn't a problem nowadays to buy a converter or adapter to a specific socket), however the good thing is that you can safely put it into 220v socket. I'm not sure about what the difference between the stock tube and the Golden one is. But I'm happy with Golden Lion. This is my first headphone amplifier and I'm very satisfied with it. Whether I will offer this product to my friend? Yes, however.. There's 4.4 mm Pentaconn balanced stereo plug nowadays, which isn't supported by this device. Anyway, these are the very first steps to Hi-Res audio, isn't it?..

Great souding with Senn HD650!
Using a Fiio E10k as a DAC and Sennheiser HD650's. It sounds amazing!! Extremely powerful, I mostly leave it at about 8-9 o'clock and thats plenty loud. I haven't noticed any humming, it is very clear actually. I accidentally ordered the V1 at first and didn't notice until I tried it out. The V1 has, to my untrained ears, a more V-shaped sound, with the bass and highs being increased as compared to using just the Fiio. I returned it shortly after receiving it, (thanks to Amazon's amazing return policy), though so that is only my initial impression. The V2 sounds more warm with the mids and does not have as much with bass and highs. Feels like it opened my headphones up some and is quite enjoyable to listen to!Will update in the future if any problems arise.

Love this little guy
Love this little guy! I'm a huge fan of Dub Reggae and this guy paired with headphones that can handle alot of base produce some nice clean rounded sounds. One thing I wanted to point out though. I had lots of trouble with intermittent popping noises. So much so that I returned my first one and asked for a replacement. After much trial and error, including re-soldering the board, I was finally able to determine that the interference was due to my cell phone pulling cell signal. As long as I keep my cell phone (or other wireless devices that have radio frequencies) away from the amp it works perfectly. Anyone facing the feedback give this a try and see if it helps.Regards.

I believe is a nice entry level into hi fi tube amps
For 99 dollars i can't ask more!!!!!! The hum many people talk i noticed with but audio cables, i move the cable and voalá, everything fix, cristal sound! I used it with a dragonfly red dac and a Sennheiser hd 598. It gave the cans a little warm. The first time i thought it wasn't working properly because i didn't hear the hiss or extra noise that i read in many forums. I believe is a nice entry level into hi fi tube amps. So glad that i didn't bought the vali 2, because i believe it not has any sense to be that analytical if you want a really tube amp. In a couple of weeks i will update my experience.

Awesome little amp for the money
This is a nice little amp for the money. Good build quality and cool, open design. I use it at my office and have paired it will a small Cambridge DAC. It's plenty powerful to drive my Sennheisers and has a warm sound. One potential downside for an office setup is that it does produce a little bit of static when my cellphone is close by and talking to the network. I think this must be a function of the tube; I have not noticed it with solid state amps. The problem was easily solved by putting the phone charger and amp on opposite sides of my desk. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Hum during listening
The right ear on my headphones running from this amp has a low hum with or without volume. Mostly noticeable between songs and when no music is playing. I don't know how much this is effecting my listening, but I'd guess it's pretty minimal. The hum moves to bi-lateral with increased volume. If I touch the front left corner assembly post with a finger the buzz almost goes away completely. If I touch the right post with a finger it gets louder. I also tried switching between RCA and mini jack cables, but this provided no improvement. I also switched to a different set of headphones with no improvement. It is very unique and looks very cool on my desk. I had high hopes for this item, but it looks like I may be sending it back.

Surprised!
This amp actually sounds great. Was new to tubes, bought this to see what the hype was about. Bought it with the upgraded tube, worth it. Ended up buying a Schiit Modi Multibit and a Little Dot MK2 after being so impressed with the tube sound. Tried a Chinese tube in the V2 and the sound was muddy...

Noisy
If you can get it to run quietly, this is a nice little amp with great tone and plenty of power.Unfortunately, I'm struggling to get the background noise (more of a whine) to go away. I initially thought it was the cord between the amp and my laptop/phone that was the problem. But even with just the power supply and headphones plugged in, I get the same noise. I've even tried several different pairs of headphones, including my ATH-M50's, all with the same results. To be fair, I'm using this in an office environment with tons of computers, monitors, and fluorescent lights, so I'm sure there's a ton of EMG noise, but still... I'm sure this is a common scenario. So the amp should be able to handle this. With music playing, and the amp in just the right spot on my desk, the noise is bearable. But, its still disappointing, so I can't recommend this product.
