I used it for the lid of a large tool chest that has tools attached to the lid. **Q: Will these work in a 6inch deep drawer?** A: No. These are not drawer slides. They are used to hold open the lid of a box, such as a toy box. Also, when used for their intended purpose they need more than 6 inches to operate. **Q: Can these be used outdoors?** A: Yes and no. I have mine installed in a bench outside so they are protected from rain. I imagine that they would rust if exposed to the elements. **Q: Will these work on my workbench lid with a 6inch deep drawer under the lid?** A: Yes, that is how my Dutch tool chest is made.
