FINALLY the answer to old cigarette smell from former tenants! Used EVERYTHING to get rid of old stench and nothing worked. The landlord had the air cleaned with a professional unit and it didn't work. The smell always came back. Then the A/C man told me what the problem was. The return air vent is lined with insulation and every time smoke was pulled through the vent, it saturated that lining. I looked at it with a flashlight and it is black. He told me to get a charcoal filter and put it behind the A/C filter door. I did and it works!!!!! I change it out religiously because the charcoal eventually evaporates (?). Cannot tell you how happy I am with this. Much better than anything I found in hardware store. Keep one on hand at all times.

I would like the damaged item replaced, but that is not an option. The other 2 are fine to use.

I tried this in multiple closets in my home. It really didn't work very well if at all, especially in the linen closet where I really needed it to work. The musty smell is still very strong.

Definitely reduces the odor… But you’re gonna need to rebuy these every 4 to 6 weeks
