No pencil sharpener included. I purchased Prismacolor Premiere Pencil Sharpener ($5.99 Amazon) It's just a standard pencil sharpener and works great.

I bought the full set for my niece. She is a very artistic teenager who loves Art class in school. She loved the gift. My guess is you can't purchase individual pencils but I don't know.
