Particle V2 Granular Delay Pedal

I liked the unique sounds it can make such as the glitch-y delays and strange space-y noises. However, it sometimes doesn't pickup my guitar signal. Overall, I am impressed and am interested to hear more products from this company.

I use primarily the "modeless" setting, and I use it to add a consonant accompaniment. I only use the octave jump pitch shifting, usually combined with detuning and reverse delay. The randomness comes from the pitch shifting (random octave jumps), the detuning, and sometimes the LFO delay or the random delay amount.Using the "modeless" setting, you can combine several parameters and they will all operate at the same time. There isn't much documentation about the signal flow when everything is combined, and the sound still changes depending on the algorithm you choose, but you can mostly hear what is happening.It is hard to describe this pedal. People may say "weird", and certainly you can create weird sounds. My sounds are unusual, but not cacophonous: they always fit into the music. There is a randomness to them, but it is more like a synthesizer listening to what you play, and responding. You will need to spend a lot of time on this pedal to really understand it. Often a slight change in the knob position creates a different sound.Two changes I would like to see: In the modeless setting, you can only reset all parameters to default by cycling through the presets. This is inconvenient especially if you don't know where you wish to save your current settings, before you begin cycling (once through, and they are gone). I would like dedicated buttons: one to reset the parameters to their default, least obvious values for the current parameter selection, and one to reset all parameters to default values. Alternatively, an LED that lights up when you hit the default value would help.

Arrived several days late, and tracking info was never available. Also requires a separately purchased power adapter. It is however a great sounding and unique pedal.

This pedal’s amazing. A little bit of a learning curve but once you play with it for awhile you’ll be blown away by all the different kinds of sounds you can create with the thing. I love it.

I was hesitant at first to get it, but it’s awesome. I use it everyday for modular synths, but it really shines when paired with a drum machine. The Swiss Army knife of delay, truly something new and different.

Sturdy material good sound, recommended.

So far, I ran a guitar and a kalimba thru the Particle... and I had hours of fun.
