My wifes phone does not have the fixture, and still works incredibly well wth the magnetic mount! Its super convenient that her phone did not need to have one of the magnetic seals installed because her case already has a metallic back portion that sticks quite securely and firmly to the mount despite being a completely different brand. Update 2023: I am now using this system for a new phone, thankful I kept the extra discs and stickers that came in the original package. Obviously, there's no reason why a car phone holder like this would stop working or break (the car part is literally a ball with a magnet that you stick onto the dashboard) but the metal disc that you put on the back of the phone is hard to get off without bending to put on a new phone and you'd need a new sticker anyway. So, if you order this, keep the extra stickers and discs for new phones (or new cars!) The sticker that holds the holder onto the dashboard is STRONG! It's been 2 years and it's still stuck on as solidly as the first day. Original Review, 2021: I absolutely prefer a magnet system to any other type of phone holder for the car. I've tried the CD holder ones, the vent clip ones and the suction cup ones, and none of them have worked as well as the magnet. It's smaller, more versatile for various car dashboards, and convenient. I ordered this to replace the Fastball magnet system that I was using before, which was good, but I didn't love the way the magnet on that one stuck out from the back of my phone. This type, the magnet is on the holder (the part you stick onto the car dashboard) and you stick a thin piece of non-magnetic metal to the back of your phone or case, which is helpful when it comes to keeping the profile slim. (I did like being able to stick my phone to surfaces like the dryer while folding laundry, but oh well 😊.) The stickers they give you are very strong, but you must make sure that you clean the surface you're sticking the parts to (the car dashboard, the phone or case) and you must make sure that the surface is not too hot or too cold when you stick the parts on. I installed it in my car yesterday in cold NYS, but I made sure to put it on while the car was warm. The instructions then recommend that you leave it for 24 hours before using it. If your phone has a wireless charger ability, just be sure to put the metal disk below the center of the phone. I was a little bit worried that the phone wouldn't really stay standing up on the holder with the disk at the bottom (I have a Samsung S20+, which is a pretty big phone) but it seems to hold up okay. There's also 2 smaller disks and a bigger one that might improve the magnetic hold if you're finding that the phone tilts over. You can put the disk under a case and it will work, but I would recommend sticking the disk to the inside of the case if you're going to do that because I really wouldn't want to have to try prying the disk off the back of a glass-backed phone like my S20+, it might crack the glass. The stickers are *strong*! All in all, I'm happy with it and definitely recommend!

Just like the instructions said, I waited 24 hours until I started using it. The adhesive is great and I feel confident my phone won't fall off over a tight corner or rough roads. Same goes for the magnetic bond. Very Strong. They also provide extra adhesive and discs which is a plus! However, once I place my phone on the magnet, it doesn't stay put to any angle I position it in. After a few seconds, my phone droops down and I'm afraid a bump will cause the corner of my phone to hit my Setup button. I guess my phone is too heavy for the mount even though I don't think my phone is heavy at all. I have a Moto g7 Supra with a cheap silicon case. The pictures of my phone on the mount is 10 seconds from each other. You can see that the corner of my phone just wants to tap the Setup button. The most important thing for me though is that my phone won't detach from the magnet or adhesive and fall while driving. That's why I still think it deserves a good rating, just not quite perfect for me.

My husband purchased this for me because I needed a phone holder for my IPhone 11 in my 2015 Toyota RAV4. I loved the concept of it because if you have a RAV4 you know the console area is a little strange. I refuse to get an AC mount because I don’t want the slits to break (I know it’s just in my head but hey, that’s me). Anyway, the description says that if your phone charges wirelessly not to place the round metal backing above the Qi chip on your phone. I made the mistake in placing it above it and it would not charge on my wireless charger. (That’s my fault.) So I tried removing the backing from my case (I was too afraid to stick directly to my iPhone 11.) Anyway, I tried removing it the way the instructions advised and it would not work. We tried fishing line, we tried floss, we did rubbing alcohol...nothing worked. My husband had to pry it from the case. At least the adhesive is really good. So I used the second magnetic backing and lowered it to below the Qi chip. I set it on my wireless charger and it worked. Then I went to my car and tried putting it on the holder. With the magnetic part on that are of the phone, it was not as sturdy as in the middle of the phone. I also tried to turn it landscape more to use navigation and it did not work at all. The phone would fall off. So if you buy this with a phone that can charge wirelessly, be prepared to give up wireless charging or don’t buy this at all. It’s nearly impossible to have both. Upon attempting to remove (the same was as instructed in the instructions) the swivel ball part that was stuck to my car, it scratched! We had to twist the attachment part and take it off that way because it was on way too sticky. I’m not sure if it was that adhesive but it damaged the dash part it was on. That’s what the picture is of that I uploaded. I tried removing the scratches with Goo Gone and alcohol and nothing. This is upsetting because now I have to buy a whole new part for my scratched car. I would not buy this or recommend this to anyone as it cost more that I imagine it would because now I have to buy a car part. This might work for you but in my situation it didn’t. I’m not saying it was a bad product, it’s a great idea and it’s worked for many but it didn’t work for me. And it wasn’t stated in the description that these might be issues. Buyer beware.

Did not hold my Pixel 9 XL. It allowed it to stay after attaching the metal piece to the back of my phone, but that made it so my phone couldn't charge on a dock. After about 2 weeks of use, the holder fell off of where it was stuck on my dash. I did have it mounted vertically, so that could be part of it. Besides the issues with my specific phone, I think this is a really good holder for something smaller. Very compact and versatile. Worth the money if your phone isn't gigantic!

This is the best car mount system for my phone I have ever had. First, it sticks in places others don't. My dash does not come with a lot of flat surfaces, and this item is small yet mighty. The phone does not move, and I can put the phone where I can actually see it without the phone obstructing my view of the road. The rotation ability is nice if the sun is causing a glare, it is stable, and the magnet is nice and flat so I can still use the full function of my case. Total winner - you can't go wrong with this product.

Visually looks great, however when you apply the disc to the phone, it prevents you charging the phone via desktop chargers - don't buy it unless you use cable chargers

I had hoped the ball would rotate in the socket so that I could change the angle of my phone, but it doesn’t seem to move. Otherwise I’m happy with it.
