Seymour SM-6 6-Pound Sledge Eye Splitting Maul 36-Inch Hickory Handle

This axe is really nice - the shaft is strong and it splits true. When I received it, the head was loose and I had to reattach it and add a new pin. Other than that, it works great and is a good value.

first off, not made in the usa, assembled in the usa with domestic and foreign parts. the head seems to be ok for paying $28.00 for the thing. the handle is "GENUINE HICKORY" but the handle was bent darn near 20* by the end o the handle. the head of the splitting maul was not properly fitted to the handle. there is a solid inch or two of taper before the splitting maul.

Very good maul for the $30. Nice wood handle, heavy steady head, no problem with it being loose as some other reviews have said, head is 100% solid. Called the company to talk about this and other axes they sell and had a wonderful conversation. Would recommend this product to anyone.

Handle is extremely loose in the head. Handle was carved to small for head and the wedge wont even correct that. Major flaw that will end in catastrophe on first swing. items arrive with head wrapped in bubble wrap and tape, with blade cutting though the tape. No response from Manufacturer.

husband really loves it. he said it is very sturdy. the handle feels very stong and the blade is very sharp and he is very impressed with the fact that blade of the axe has a reuseable cover

It worked great the first two times I used it - only splitting several logs each time. The third time I used it was on a camping trip. Upon splitting the second log the handle snapped in half and the head nearly made contact with my face as it spun up. Don't know if this is a common issue with the product or not but considering it was used properly each time and only on wood... I was kind of surprised. Not to mention a little shaken after I nearly had my face split. I wouldn't recommend this product.
