Works as designed

I just can never have enough USB ports...This product adds an additional 4 Superspeed USB 3.0 ports...YAY!!!

This card worked well after the drivers and card were installed on a Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P running Windows 7 home premium fully updated. It provides USB speeds as promised. One important caveat however, is the physical constraints of the orientation of the USB connectors caused conflict with computer case. I had to alter the rear of the case to get clearance for the USB Type A connectors to not hit the metal card slot separators preventing insertion of the Type A ends into the card slot. The 90 degree orientation of the card's connection allows 4 connectors but may require you to do some Dremel work.

If your case's PCI slot cutouts are slightly narrower than usual, you'll have a very hard time using this card. Apparently the Fractal Meshify C has slightly narrower PCI slot cutouts, and I can only fit USB connectors through them by inserting them at an angle and then twisting into place. Obviously, this is not good for the USB cables, and removing them once inserted is even harder. Once a USB cable is wrangled and shoved into the port, the card works great! I did not intend to return the product because it does technically work, but note that the product description states the seller won't accept returns once you open the packaging anyway unless it's defective. Make sure your case's PCI slot cutouts are wide enough to fit a USB connector through before you order.

I'd read that W10 would detect the hardware and auto install the drivers for it. Not so in my case. I think it depends on how old your machine is and what hardware you have. My machine is a good 10 years old, but it has an early iteration of an i7, with added memory to at least give me 8GB there. But it did turn out to have a working PCIe card slot, and this fit perfectly. Not my main machine but a side project to see how I can keep it running at a fairly high level. A couple notes: it showed up in Device Manager as an unknown device, and not under USB controllers. I tried installing the drivers straight from W10 but no dice. So I installed the drivers from the little cd included with purchase. It required a restart after that before finally detecting the brand name under USB controllers in Device Manager. So...you might need to ignore the troubleshooting tips in the included pamphlet instructions like I did...as it called for reseating the card after failure to detect as intended. In the end: seat the PCIe on your motherboard, then install the drivers off the cd, then reboot, then check and make sure it took in Device Manager (if your system doesn't detect it right away and install drivers from DM).

I bought this PCIe to USB3 card to use in a recently acquired HP EliteDesk 800 G2 "small form factor" system. The system has a fair number of USB3 ports on the back, but I wanted to connect more USB3 external disks than I had ports for. So I got this card. It has bulkhead adapters for both the full height and compact case formats, and it was easy to swap it to the compact bulkhead. The system has four PCIe slots, two X1 and two X4/X8. I put it in the first open slot, hooked up my disks, and at first it seemed fine (no problems with Windows 10 latest 2004 version working with the card), but after a while, the adapter and all four disks went offline. So I moved it to the second (X1) slot, looked fine, but the same thing happened again. I tried to contact FebSmart support (twice) to ask for help, but they NEVER responded. So I bought an Inatech two port adapter and a two port cable and installed them where I'd tried the FebSmart adapter, and that worked (and is still working) flawlessly. I also moved the FebSmart controller to the 3rd slot on the motherboard (also X1) and put a couple of USB3 flash drives in it so I could monitor it, and so far, it's stayed on line. No problems AT ALL with the Inatech. I don't know why the FebSmart was so picky/flaky but it does have a different interface chip and since I put it into the slot where it seems OK I haven't been using it for heavy I/O, so maybe it's really OK now, and maybe it's still flaky. I can't give it a better than mediocre rating because of the problems I had getting it working, and because FebSmart support NEVER replied to my request for help. I'm sure Amazon would have been happy to accept a return, but for $20 and since it seems to be working now, I'll keep it.

Great picture, thanks, I know. The card being reviewed is the bottom card, and you can see blue light coming from the open two ports; the other two are in use. The card does not cause the blue light, but I grabbed some fancy CPU cooler to keep my CPU from melting. The card is small, plugged into an open PCI-E port, and comes with two back panel plates, one for a tighter chassis design and the other for a traditional full-sized case. It plugged in, and it just worked on my Windows 10 older AMD computer (like 10ish years old). I have used hard drives via the card's USB 3 and had no issues. While I doubt my system can push the card to the max, the motherboard only had 2 USB 3 ports, and I needed more. For the $20, this is a cheap upgrade.

I ran an HDMI adapter box connected to this card. The driven monitor would freeze once per hour. This occurred no made to which USB port from this card the converter was connected to. Yes, I cleaned the contacts with deoxider to be on the safe side. Once the adapter was connected to a native port on the PC or to a connector off another card, all started working properly. This finding is consistent with those by others of errors occurring when reading or writing to drives connected to this card. I dumped this card and bought a Startech/Ableconn and life seems good now. I will be staying away from now on from FebSmart. UPDATE: After the Startech replacement card has not dropped the connection a single time during 10 days, the 'Made in P.R.C." FebSmart "PCI-E X1" card got deposited in a trash can. I scavenged the short bracket.

USBポートを回路基盤に対して垂直に実装していますが、PC筐体の増設ボード用スロットの幅がそれより狭く、USBコネクタが刺さりません。 PC筐体によってはリアスロットの幅が広くできていて使用できる場合があるかもしれませんが、私が使用しているPC筐体(AOpen H360)では使用できませんでした。 要するにカナダの人(2019年9月24日のレビュー Client d'Amazons氏)のレビューの通りです。 しかし、私は、彼のようにこのボードを使うために態々PC筐体を自ら破壊する気にはなれませんでした。 結果として\5000を無駄遣いすることになりましたが、仕方ありませんね。 一応保管しておいてこれが使えるような筐体を今後手に入れたら、そのうち使うかもしれません。 使える筐体が手元にない現状においては、残念ながらこの商品はただのゴミです…。
