Outstanding Design, Quality, Value, and Customer Regard
First of all, I can state that Vaun Duffy Products is a company with truly World Class regard for product design, quality and customer satisfaction. I recently purchase a Large Soft Touch Collar, and a Soft Touch Heavy Duty Braided Leash. I think the collar and leash are the best value you will find on any similar product. For dogs who appreciated comfort, and owners who appreciate comfort, good design, and quality with a touch of style, at a reasonable cost, this is the choice. Now, I'll explain in detail why I made those statement; because, I'm a retired Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Engineering, Manager from the defense industry who likes to tell stories. I recently adopted a 15 month old Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog (I know, I never heard of one either). This dog is a very affectionate, self-minded, "people" dog, who likes to sleep a lot, with major energy bursts in between. He is a water dog who likes to run off the end of the dock into the lake, swim back to the beach, jump up and down looking for admirers; and then, charge off to do it again, over and over. He always attracts people wanting to pet him. When this dog gives you a handshake, or a "love pat" to the arm, leg, or chest you know instantly why they're called a Leopard Dog. I really regret that someone previously taught him to "sit and shake". I wish they had stopped at "sit". I typically walk/train him on a choker collar. He absolutely refuses to move and inch from the back door on the heavy duty run I made him because the heavy duty clip and cable leash pull on the choker. I got him a 1" x 22" leather collar of cheaper quality; because, I wanted to reward him to swim without a chocker, and make the run more comfortable. The cheaper 22" collar was somewhat loose at it's tighest notch, but no other heavy leather product at either the local national pet chain, or local pet boutique came close to fitting him. He immediately tried to get the collar off, and tried to chew the loose end that was left after adjusting to the tightest notch. After his first swim in the pet boutique collar, I left him on the run, on the deck to dry. I came back 15 minutes later; and, he had almost stretched that collar to where he could get loose. The 1" x 22" collar is now 7/8" x 24". The 24" Soft Touch Collar fits perfectly at the tightest notch, leaving room for growth (hope not). It has an inner layer of soft quality leather which is 1 1/2" when flat, continuously stitched with higher quality cord to a 1 3/8" wide, thicker outer layer of quality leather. Delta has made no attempts to remove this collar. The stitching is only interupted where the leash eyelet is attached at the top of the collar. The boutique collar has a rolled pattern on it's edges which looks like stitching. The Soft Touch Collar buckle is secured by double stitching of the folded thick leather. The stitching actually includes 2 loops of cord around the outside of the leather. The boutique buckle is retained by 2 rivets, immediated followed by the leash eyelet and single stitching of the folded leather. The Soft Touch Collar has two leather loops to retain any extra belt, so there is no temptation to chew on whatever hangs out after the buckle. The separate tag eyelet, adjacent to the buckle, is also a big plus because Delta's name tag is prominent, and easily readable to his admirers, while I hold the leash in an attempt to keep him from delivering a "love pat". As for the Soft Touch Leash, it is of the same high quality leather. The people end has the soft inner layer of leather that is stitched all the way into the braid. Both ends are braided, which not only looks good, but provides shock absorption to increase the overall strength of the leash. The design of the braid at the dog end even appears that it would increase the leash's tensile strength. Having designed a run for him in which I wanted no component rated at a load lower than 400 pounds, I know how hard it is to find a leash clip rated at anything higher than 90 pounds. I don't know the load rating of this solid brass clip; but, it appears to be at least as strong as the 210 pound rated plated steel clip I found. Now the topper. I recieved the leash less than 48 hours after ordering it. I put them on the dog, and went for a walk. The dog, and I, were comfortable with the set up. I put the dog in the back of the car, did not take the leash off, and went to change my shirt. In the minute, or two, I was gone, he had chewed through the leash just above the braid. I was not happy with Delta. I decided to write Vaun Duffy Products, with a picture, to explain what had happened. As I stated to them, it was clearly not their fault; but, I like the leash, even if Delta doesn't, and I asked if I could get a discount on a replacement. Gary, from Vaun Duffy, responded within 30 minutes of my e-mail, and shipped me a free replacement. Given my work experience I believe I know World Class values when I see them. I don't know if Gary is the owner, or an employee; but, he's a class act with a class product.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Collar That Combines Style, Comfort, and Durability – Our Go-To for Both Dogs!
We’ve gone through our fair share of dog collars over the years, but Soft Touch Collars have become the only brand we trust. We have two Labradors—both strong, playful, and full of energy—and these collars have handled everything from muddy hikes to beach runs without missing a beat. The padded leather is soft yet tough, offering both comfort and durability. The moment we put these on our dogs, we noticed a difference. No scratching, no stiffness—just beautifully made collars that they actually seem to enjoy wearing. The genuine leather feels luxurious, and the craftsmanship is excellent. Tight stitching, quality brass hardware, and a classic brown finish that only gets better with age. Over time, we’ve purchased four collars—not because they wore out, but because we wanted backups and also gifted one to a friend who was blown away by how nice ours looked. The fit is perfect for large breeds, and the padding on the inside makes long wear a non-issue. Our dogs wear theirs all day, every day. What really stands out is how the leather develops a rich patina over time—these collars actually look better the longer you use them. They’re sturdy, stylish, and built to last. ✅ Durable enough for two big dogs ✅ Incredibly comfortable and well-padded ✅ Beautiful, aging leather with solid hardware ✅ We've bought four—and we’d buy again in a heartbeat If you want your dogs to look great and feel great, Soft Touch Collars are absolutely worth it. Five stars, every time.

Excellent quality collar for large dogs
I got my 70-75 lb 8 y/o German shepherd the XL collar in black. I thought a 22” collar would fit nicely around his neck and since the large went up to 21”, I got XL. It actually fits quite loosely so perhaps the large may have been better. I do like that the collar is 1.75” wide. Upon unwrapping it, I thought it may be too big bc I want him to look stylish, not like I’m trying hard to make him look intimidating. But he actually looks quite handsome in this size so I love it. Cant speak to its stretchability or how comfy it is on all day bc we take it off in the house. It seems very durable but also keep in my mind that my dog is not aggressive/ tears/chews at anything. I’d recommend someone with a GSD to get a large. I was also concerned that the “black” wasn’t going to look very black but be a lighter, sort of charcoal gray. The black looks dark/ true black in person, even against my pups black hair, without getting lost in it (+1 for thicker collar). So far no scratches on the leather. I also got the matching leash and they look very nice together. I love that they both have the same single stitch lining, brass hardware, and padding. Due to the padding, the collar is quite thick so I wouldn’t recommend this collar for a small dog. This is definitely for large dogs. Also love the D ring on the opposite end of the buckle for attaching his leash. The brass color is true. This black collar gives my Dutch a very masculine look, which I love. High quality real leather. Would buy again.

********Oliver’s one & only collar ********
I don’t understand the negative reviews about this collar. We bought ours over a year ago for our very, very active German Shepherd, Oliver. Ollie wears it every day and the thing looks brand new. He looks so handsome in it and receives many compliments. It was definitely a larger, bulkier type of collar than the usual nylon or regular leather types so it takes some getting used to. Also, because it’s leather it is going to be stiff and hard to bend at first, just like a new pair of quality leather shoes. But once Ollie started to wear it, it became more pliable and softer and really adjusted well to his thick neck. There is no fraying or ripping of leather or sewing or anything like that. This collar will be Oliver’s one and only for the rest of his life. He loves it! I think the people who left negative reviews just never gave it a chance to “break in” a bit. Also the pictures sent in about the collar ripping and falling apart look as though it was chewed up, in multiple reviews. That’s only my observation but I’m sure others felt like that as well. I certainly cannot think of one negative thing to say about this collar. The brass buckle, leash and tag holders are beautiful and haven’t tarnished a bit. For anyone thinking of purchasing a leather collar, look no further. This is as good as it gets. Plus, made in the USA, I’m pretty sure. For the record, this is my genuine opinion and I have not been influenced at all by the company that makes it. I just know quality when I see it. ***Update*** Oliver is still wearing this collar every day and it looks like the day we bought it. He is very active outside all day long and never faded or tarnished the collar. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one if we would get another dog. Best collar ever.

First-class product with first-class customer service
2024 UPDATE: Love this collar. I am buying my second leather collar for the same dog. This collar is tough. Folks, it has gone through salt water, chlorine, river, lake, creek, swamp, meadow, beach, mud, mountains, etc. The leather is still good, and the brass looks great. My 70 lb. dog grew into a 90 lb. dog. He still wears the size large, although on the last hole now. The collar is thick and tough enough to grab when you need to restrain your dog. I am replacing the collar for two reasons. First, the D ring finally fell off after six years -- but this is a hard playing dog in a variety of environments, so no complaints because the rest of the collar is great and still functioning. Second, I have washed the collar again and again over the years, and it always comes clean. This time, however, it still smells like dog. At $25 and six years, I definitely got my money's worth, so I am buying another. I will keep the old one on hand as a back up -- maybe save for the beach. Buy this beautiful collar for its durability, its comfort (for your dog), its ability to handle your dog's weight and rough play, and its attractiveness. You cannot go wrong. ORIGINAL JAN. 2018 REVIEW: This is a sturdy, made-to-last leather collar with beautiful stitching and brass hardware. My dog has been wearing it for more than two years, and it still looks great with all stitches intact. It cleans beautifully. If it was a little stiff at first, it is nice and supple now. This type of collar is GREAT for a large breed dog. Not only does it serve as a collar, but I also grasp it to restrain him from jumping all over the delivery man (to give kisses, of course). It has been quite comfortable on my golden retriever (first as a puppy and then as an adult), who doesn't scratch at it as he did with his earlier nylon collar. I love the Soft Touch Collar's large D ring, since it's often a challenge to hook the leash on a lively, furry neck when there's an itty bitty D ring. The additional small ring for the dog tags is quite handy. When I bought the collar, my puppy was 5 months and 47.8 pounds. I thought I measured correctly but he must have been just very furry that day. The large collar was too big (although he grew into it, to be sure), so the medium was just perfect on a puppy of that size. Now that my dog is 71 pounds, the large is perfect. Vaun Duffy Products was extremely responsive and helpful in making sure that my puppy had the perfect fit, and for that, they have my loyalty. Five stars for product and five stars for customer service! I recommend this collar highly.

Good Collar but leather holding D-ring in place for leash fails.
Nice collar, thick and soft but the leather that holds the D ring for the leash failed although it is about a year old. I'll keep it as a back-up. Color variety in medium size was not available when I re-ordered (I wanted the brown and pink for my female) but had to order the plain brown again as it was not available in medium. I wished there was more variety in size as the medium (14.5in smallest neck size for the collar). I have to use the last hole on the collar so it overlaps more than I would like; unlike the large which I use for my male which seems more size appropriate.

Appears to be great item!
Received this collar today, so far it looks to be of very nice quality. I got the tan/coral in large for a 72lb Rottweiler/Basset Hound mix. His neck measured at 20 1/2, and, after reading the reviews that this does run large, I am glad I went with the large size, as I was able to get this around his neck 3 notches from the end and with 2 fingers of wiggle space. Buckle seems to be secure and I really like that the design for the id tag and leash ring. Pup seems to be comfortable, and he looks very handsome in it. I’d love to be able to post a photo, but he’s camera shy.

There is no substitute for a real leather dog collar!
Leather. There is no substitute. This is a fine collar for a big dog. There is just no substitute for real leather. For thousands of years, leather has been one of the most reliable materials available to man. Leather is still a good choice for many applications today. Saddle stirrups, an arguably importance piece of riding equipment in terms of safety, has been made of this material for thousands of years and riders have staked their lives on its reliability. A good quality leather that is properly sized for its application is very reliable and unlikely to fail the user. In my opinion, it is the perfect material for a dog collar. I have a large dog that loves to pull on the leash. His old collar is over two years old and it is still in good shape even though he gets bathed every week. The collar has lost its brown color and faded. I decided to replace it with a padded collar and decided on this one, the subject of this review. This is a wide collar at almost two inches in width. The wider it is, the more comfortable for the dog. Pressure is distributed over a wider area. Of course, that also means he will experience less discomfort when pulling against the leash and may not discourage him from this annoying habit, but that is another topic for discussion. My dogs spends comparatively little time on the leash and a lot of time just wearing the collar around the house. His comfort is my main priority. I can also use an e-collar to discourage him from pulling against his leash. He is a big dog and there is enough room on his neck for this collar and an e-collar to be used simultaneously. I live in an area that have strict leash laws. Even though the e-collar controls the dog better than a regular leash, I have to follow the rules and use the leash. The quality of craftsmanship is very good on this item. I was surprised to find it for this price. The leather is full grain. The padding on the inside is soft to the touch. I have no doubt that the leather will soften in time. It is stiff right now because it is new. The hardware is brass. So you will not have to worry about rust. The leash attaches to the D-ring in the back. There is a very small D-ring near the buckle for ID tags. Do not underestimate this feature. Having two separate D-rings on opposite sides of the collar is important. One for the ID tag and another to attach the leash to. You do not want the ID tags and the leash to clip on to the same D-ring on the collar. One day, you will make a mistake (easy to do early in the morning before coffee) and clip the leash to the split ring of the ID tag. One strong pull and the split ring will open and your dog will have his freedom. You also do not want to keep turning the collar around just to attach the D-ring. That irritates the dog's neck. So the bottom line here is to pick a collar with two D-rings. If I have to nitpick, I would have made the small D-ring on the bottom, the one near the buckle, a little bit bigger. I like having enough room to attach two separate ID tags (In case one falls off), a Homeagain (a pet locator service) tag, and vaccination tags. I expect this collar to last a very long time. The craftsmanship is superb and likely superior to the designer belt that you have holding up your slacks. This is an honest-to-goodness full grain leather material. Highly recommended.

Slightly disappointed
The blue leather is cracking however the inside is where the quality of this product lies. It is still brand new and super soft. My black labrador looks super classy with his blue collar & I love it for that.

Excellent Quality
These collars are definitely worth the price. They are beautiful and very well made. I can tell they will last a very long time. Even with large breed dogs who like to occasionally pull. Would highly recommend. The stitching is on par as well.
