SCAM ALERT - might not be real Yacon Syrup
The manufacturers can contact me and correct me if I am wrong but I have gone through 3 bottles of Yacon Syrup in the past 3 weeks and have been doing a cleanse with a combination of Metagenics and Dr Shultz products. I purchased this brand because it appeared to be raw, organic and a few dollars cheaper than the other brands I had need trying.THIS APPEARS TO BE CORN SYRUP or something similar. It is clear, very runny and I put it into my regular evening drink and feel the kind of blood sugar low I used to feel when accidentally ingesting corn syrup. The syrup, especially one labelled raw and organic, should be thick, brown and molasses like. It has a very rich taste and is not super-sticky sweet. It makes me feel better, not worse. To be fair, I tried to do some research to find out if there is a clear raw organic version of Yacon Syrup. I could find nothing. Also, all of the 5 star reviews feel fake, they are not verified purchasers of the product and they are all posted on the same date. I am reporting this as a SCAM and if this is not a scam, please contact me and I will retract this review.

Disappointing
It comes in a plastic bottle whereas most others have a glass jar.It is very light in color, more like a high grade maple syrup, doesn't look like the dark dark brown of other yacon syrups I've tried. Also, it does have some of the flavor I expect from Yacon, but overall it was very different in taste compared to other yacon syrups I've tried, so this unfortunately is going in the trash. That said, I'm still looking for a good, but less expensive source for Yacon. For me it is great for normalizing digestion. Too soon to say if I'll lose weigh, but I am feeling trimmer. So I do recommend Yacon, just not this product.

Saw this on Dr. Oz....
I admit it, I returned this without trying. It arrived quickly, packaged well, but after staring at the little brown bottle for days I decided the hype of this highly overpriced bottle of magic was probably too good to be true. I'd buy cases of this $30 bottle of magic weight loss syrup if I thought it wold work. So I sent it back and decided to put the fork down, get off the couch, lace up the sneakers & hit the pavement. Good luck to all who try it and let me know if I'm wrong.UPDATE: May 29, 2014I think I made the right decision to return the bottle I ordered. Dr. Oz did a show this week with a panel of medical professionals to discuss the in-house study he set up with the participants using Yacon Syrup in their daily diets for a couple of months as directed. One of the ladies in the study lost about 8 pounds in a couple of months simply by using the product in place of other sweetners & sugar. The findings of Dr. Oz's in house study is that you still need to exercise, eat healthy & cut your food portions to lose weight. Overall I still stand by my decision to return the Yacon Syrup without trying it. For the high price of this product it's not worth it. Get up and move is the answer.

Shocked at how different this is from other brands I've tried.
I just received my order of BT Labs yacon root extract, and I am so disappointed. I've tried two other brands in the past, and while those two were not identical in taste, thickness, and color, they were at least similar, and both actually tasted good. I would have ordered them again, but they were both out of stock. One tasted more like molasses and the other tasted more like caramel. I actually looked forward to taking my dose before meals. Not so for the BT Labs version! I opened it today and couldn't wait to take it. I've been out of my other brand for three days, and thus far, the products I have used have worked. First red flag: (1) The color is lighter than honey--almost looks like amber/light agave syrup. Still, I don't care so long as the product is what it purports to be and works. (2) The product is really thin--not like molasses at all, but rather, more like milk. Ok, now I was getting suspicious. Finally, (3) The taste is AWFUL! I'm not exaggerating. I am normally easy to please, and I cannot ever recall taking the time to write another review on Amazon, but this is so bad that I had to speak up. Now, I'm frustrated because I have no way of knowing if what I received is legitimate or not, nor can I imagine putting it into anything that will come close to masking the taste. I look forward to reading others' reviews to see if they experience the same thing.

Clearly the worst one so far
I am doing my own independent trial on Yacon syrup. This is the 4th one I have tried and it is by far the worst. While it was an almost full bottle (7-3/4 oz instead of 8 ounces), it was fuller than two of the other three I tried. The problem with this one is that the syrup is clear and very runny, which indicates to me it has been either mixed with water or corn syrup, because the taste is totally different. I have written to Dr. Oz and told him of the problems I was encountering with all of the different brands and have asked him to have his staff do a study of all brands and then expose them for what they are doing to the public.

Looks & Tastes Like Karo
BT Labs organic syrup was horrible. Looked and tasted like highly refined Karo. Way too sweet and totally lacking the caramel flavor that is characteristic of Yacon Syrup. I have used this product for years after reading Paleo Desserts by Jane Barthelemy. She recommends yacon syrup sold by Navitas Naturals (the gold standard in Yacon Syrup) but it is hard to find so I tried some others. The only one that was totally unacceptable was the BT Labs product. I will throw it away.

Yacon Syrup
I bought this syrup because I read about it in a magazine and I was interested in trying it for a sweetener that was more natural. I am not overweight but I was also interested to see if it had any effect on my weight. The syrup is very sweet with a pleasant taste. It is the consistency of molasses but not as dark. More like the color of honey. I did take it three times a day for one week. It kept my blood sugar steady ( I did not get hungry between meals). It also had some effect on my digestive tract as mentioned so I think it was working in my gut. I did not really lose any weight but did not really expect to as I am not overweight. I like the taste so much that I am going to keep using it for a sweetener.
