I was looking for a great hairbrush for my thick/wavy/curly hair, especially one that lasts a bit longer than traditional ones. I had heard about boar bristles and had never owned a brush like this. So, I decided to grab this one.Normally I use a stiffer, “mass marketed” brush for the roots and a wide comb for the ends since that is where the mass of the thick/wavy curls are. And, when I saw this, I thought it’d work pretty well.In my case – it is more of a smoothing brush than a deep “massage” brush, especially for people with thick hair. This is because the bristles are too short for certain hair types, mine included. It works on the roots, but not on the ends.The result was FANTASTIC when I tried it on my bangs.It was very easy to use, easy to hold. And, it does feel great when I was “smoothing” out my bangs and brushing them. It added quite a bit of shine to my and my scalp at that point felt great. But, with as thick as my hair is – it’s not going to get the full benefit.That’s not entirely this brush’s fault though, which is why I’m still giving it five (5) stars.This is a well constructed wooden brush, it comes with a “cleaning” tool which is cool and really handy. The bristles are fantastic – they’re softer than I thought, and don’t fall out even when running the brush over my palm (a test I use).It’s presented in a box that would be easy to wrap as a gift. And, it would make a beautiful gift for any occasion.Am I disappointed? Slightly. It is still usable, but not 100%. Still it is a great brush. I’d recommend for those with thinner and straighter hair though.

I have an oily scalp but very dry hair so I thought this boar bristle brush would be the perfect solution, by distributing the oil along the hair shaft. Item is exactly as described and I especially like the darker wood but the fatal flaw is that the bristles aren't stiff enough to get through to my scalp.1/28/20 update: I originally gave this product 3 stars but wanted to update for two reasons. First and most impressively, Sonvera has provided phenomenal customer service. I am speechless! Based on my comments in the previous review, they recommended an alternate product that they thought would be better for me. Not only did they take the time to care enough to make sure that I got what I was hoping for, but the replacement product they recommended is amazing! It has plastic pins that are slightly longer than the boar bristles and grab my hair effectively. I even use this instead of my paddle brush to dry my hair! It seems like the bristles are gentle enough to avoid breakage... something I wasn't even thinking about until I realized I wasn't hearing my hair snap while brushing. Thank you, Sonvera!

This product seems well made and sturdy but the bristles aren't quite as stiff as my old one. I have super thick hair and this brush doesn't always make it through to my scalp. Love the cleaning tool though!

I saw all the good reviews. I don't know if its just me, but I don't think I understand how this brush works. It just absolutely won't do anything to my hair. It's too soft! It doesn't reach my scalp or detangle anything. It looks nice and sturdy tho.

It’s in a pretty large size. I used to take with me a travel size brush on my almost waist length hair while travelling. But this one very suitable and came with travel bag. I like that the bristles are a much softer than my previous brush. I have very sensitive skin on my head and my old brush was worse in use. This brush is much gentler and doesn’t hurt at all. The comb works perfectly.

This is a very good brush. It does everything that you want from a natural bristle boar brush. I gave it 5 stars because of the results I got - my medium length hair instantly looked better. It does do what the picture illustrates. My only complaint would be that the brush is not firm enough to brush through to the scalp, which is what I was looking for in a brush. I have to push my hair into the brush if that makes sense. If anyone knows of a brush that is just like this but firmer I would love to know about it.

I’m no stranger to boar hair brushes and have used them for years. I bought this one based on reviews to replace one that I lost. My hair is fine textured and of average to thin on the thickness and I can’t even get the bristles of this brush through my hair to my scalp. The bristles are far too soft rendering this brush useless for daily use.

Excellent quality for brush and comb. Perfectly fits for a fine baby and toddler hair. I have very long hair and it’s difficult to find the right brush. First I thought it was not strong enough to brush my hair, but it works perfectly. And it’s also great for kid. The bristles are very soft and my baby loves it.
