I believe i have a juvenile russian tortoise in a 35-40 gallon tank would this bedding be good for him? if so how would i clean it if he poops on it

You can pick up solid items on this carpet like bedding. it can be removed from the cage and washed off if necessary.

Is this fine with chameleons? Does it work well?

I don't know about chameleons as I am using it with turtles. It was great at first, but after a few months of use, my turtles' claws are ripping holes in it. That never happened with my old carpet.

Is it compatible with a standard heating mat underneath?

We've had a heating mat under ours about 5 months now so far no issue

Will this fit a 30 gallon tank??

I'm honestly not familiar with the dimensions of a 30 gallon tank, but I hope this helps: I have a 6 foot long terrarium and it takes two of these to lay across the floor of it.
