Saragan Pure Activated Charcoal Shampoo is the best shampoo I've Ever Used
This is a clarifying shampoo has a fantastic scent. It lathers well and rinses clean. Recently I had been using Apple Cider Vinegar rinses because my hair tends to be oily and the sebum on the scalp too thick. This shampoo really worked well in fighting both without making my hair too dry. I don't need the ACV rinse anymore or maybe just very seldom. The scent isn't feminine's or masculine, just a nice woodsy kind of sexy smell. I hope they make a body wash with the same scent. Can't say enough about how great this shampoo works for my shoulder length fine (but pretty thick) hair.

Wondering if you need conditioner?
I have been using this shampoo for almost 3 months now, and it has been marvelous. My scalp looks and feels de-greased and squeaky clean with no flakes, while my hair is left soft and shiny. I have NOT needed conditioner! I have medium length hair and I just shampoo and air dry, and occasionally add a tiny bit of coconut oil as it dries if I want it to look even sleeker. The shampoo pump is very convenient, the black color of the shampoo is mesmerizing, and the lather is luscious. Stellar product and a great price too. I will absolutely buy it again.

Didn't work for me
Update: After using this I went back to my old shampoo. I noticed my hair started feeling waxy and was much poofy-er and frizzier than it had been. I've since gone back to this charcoal shampoo and it has definitely softened my hair. I still can only use it once a week though and it must be followed with a conditioner. I still have frizzy hair, but it is much better with this shampoo. I've been using this shampoo for several weeks now so that I can give the most accurate review possible. Pros: Aroma: It has a very pleasant aroma. It is light and not overwhelming but just smells really clean and fresh. That is the best part about the shampoo. Softness: It does leave my hair feeling soft, but not any softer than any other shampoo I've tried. Clarifying: It is great as a clarifying shampoo. You can tell it strips out any products or oil build up and you feel like you have clean hair when you rinse. Cons: Shipping: The lid wasn't on tight and there was no seal so quite a bit of it had leaked out of the bottle and into the packaging. Lather: I have long, thick, curly hair and due to the type of shampoo this is (it does not create a big lather) it is very difficult to distribute through my hair which results in having to use A LOT of it to get my hair thoroughly washed; which at this price is just not economical. Moisturizing: It is advertised for Dry Hair, which I have and my scalp gets especially dry and flaky in the winter months. This shampoo did not change any of that. It did not moisturize at all. I use it once a week & I can't imagine using it daily. Not with dry hair. It would be too much. I tried going without conditioner as the ad says and my hair would feel soft, but look dry & brittle and very flyaway. Conditioner is a must. Price: This is a very expensive clarifying shampoo. I achieved similar results using Neutrogena Clean & Clear, although admittedly this shampoo (Saragan)has a much nicer aroma. I wanted so desperately for this to live up to the 5 star rating, but for me it fell a bit short. This would probably be a great choice for people who have thin and/or very short hair or who have oily hair. I'm not saying it is a bad shampoo; it just doesn't achieve the results I was hoping for as a person with really thick, curly, dry hair, especially for the price.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT!
I'm 65, have always been a longhair, still have a full head of hair and have always used good sulphate free shampoo, though never used a charcoal shampoo until this. Having very oily hair and a bit of itchy scalp in me old age, thought I'd try this stuff. Results were amazing! Thought it would strip and flatten my hair out, but gives me full shag body...and no more itching! This shampoo comes out black, which was a bit of a shock. But it's just the coal tar and all washes and rinses right out. I don't know how dry hair would respond to this, but for me it's one of the most beneficial shampoos I've ever used. Give it a try!

Made in China, and smells like mens aftershave
This review is for the Saragan Charcoal Shampoo. 1) As printed on the bottle: Made in PRC (People's Republic of China) 2) I was excited about this product until noticing it was made in China since they tend to not be the most forthcoming about actual ingredients. In the product photo, the ingredients photo conveniently leaves off one very important ingredient that is on the real bottle. FRAGRANCE. It's listed in the text description halfway down the page but their product photo does not have it listed as of the date of this review. That FRAGRANCE smells exactly like mens aftershave or mens sports deodorant, a combination of forest and ocean scents and it does not list what chemicals make up that pungent scent. It is not natural. I did not enjoy showering in a manly aftershave scent it ruined the shower experience. The pump bottle is nice to have in a shampoo, but the love ends there. It squirts out a jet black oil slick of shampoo, if you use a white shower liner you probably don't want to use this runny shampoo. It lathers decently, the chemical aftershave fragrance is offensive, and it rinses down your body in a gray stream. It is not appealing visually nor in scent. It does clean hair, though on long medium thick wavy hair it didn't perform any different than generic shampoos or fancy argan oil or castor oil shampoos. If you have long medium thick hair you will definitely need to also use a conditioner or you'll never get a brush through your hair. Due to lack of transparency on the FRAGRANCE ingredients and the manly aftershave scent, it went in the trash and I can't give this more than 3 stars. Buyer beware.
