Fantastic Tool
I've been a professional remodeler for decades, but only discovered these a year or so ago. They are, without a doubt, one of the most useful tools I've ever bought. We keep 4 of them in the tool van and they come out all the time for shoring and light/medium structural jacking. You don't have to have 4x4's, just grab a couple 2x4's the length you need, screw them together and you are good to go. A 2-3' iron bar is good for turning the bottom (the one Jet sells to go with their screw jacks works well). No more trying to find steel jack posts, that only have a range of a few inches, the right size. No more endless cribbing - if you need another height, just cut another pair of 2x4's. I know, they are stamped made in China, but some good old American ingenuity designed these. They are not cheap junk. I have supported, moved, and straightened a lot of residential framing with these in a short amount of time. If you work on removing and modifying bearing walls (adding headers or beams), beefing up floor systems, rebuilding old porches, etc. YOU NEED THESE. Best thing for structural remodeling since the LVL.

It Will Definitely Lift and Stabilize a Heavy
I am using this shoring jack to replace my deck post (7 ft. on average) and cement pier blocks. First I tried a 10 ton bottle jack but found it too unstable. I use this Ellis shoring jack with an Ellis top bracket and 4x4's -- plenty of stability there. Two things I don't like about the shoring jack: (1) It will not accept full-size 4x4's -- I chisel out the waste wood I am using to jack with; and (2) I have to get down on the ground to raise and lower the jack using a short bar. Using a bar over a period of time will probably impact the lower jack threads as the bar is in contact with the threads while turning. The paint is oxidizing a bit since it has been exposed for a month to direct sunlight. I might also add that I screwed the jack to a 4x6 base for added stability and to keep it from sinking into the ground. Bottom line: It will lift and support a heavy deck.

Sturdy and Secure
I bought an old house that is on a hill. It is supported with posts / beams with the posts resting on pier blocks. This summer I went through and replaced many of the pier blocks with diamond piers to stabilize the house and prevent it from sliding down the hill. I bought four of these screw jacks and can't be happier with how much easier they are to use than a car jack for this project. The stability of these screw jacks is amazing as one side slides into the screw jack and the other side can be nailed or screwed in place. I am really glad I purchased them for this project.

Works well
I don’t know if this post jack is really worth $40.00 more than the competitors jack but it works well I just wish Amazon prime had free shipping (not free when you pay for your membership) so here’s to your ten million dollar yaut Jeff.

Well built, well-oiled
I had read that some of these devices that has been painted had tight screws due to that paint, and you should fully extend them before use. I was pleased to discover that the threads on this model were clean and well oiled and would fully extend with no resistance.
