It's a nice board. I upgraded from a later 4.2.2 board and this 4.2.7 board is a bit quieter. Print quality is about the same, maybe a bit better but not hugely so. I'd still recommend the new board.From the time the parcel arrived, it took me (a not-that-pro person) 45 minutes to configure and compile the firmware, swap the motherboards, and start a print.Before upgrading, checkout YouTube of people doing the upgrade. The number one tip I would give is that because the board layout is exactly the same between the 4.2.2 and 4.2.7 (and I think the 1.x) and the wires are in the same place, disconnect each wire and connect them in sequence, one-by-one. E.g.: unplug a red wire from the old board, then put it in the new board; unplug the next red wire, plug it into the new board; unplug a black wire... and so on. This will mean you don't get confused which red wire is which.You only need a small Allan/hex key from your printer's supplied tools, a small flat-head screwdriver and some pliers/snips to GENTLY take off the glue on the connectors.

I wasn't 100% sure how replacing the board was going to affect the volume of the steppers... but it really did. I think it does it by running the motors at a different speed from the OG board, which affects the pitch of the sound it makes. It is definitely quieter, however. This has unfortunately highlighted the fact that the cooling fans now sound like two helicopters taking off.The board was a relatively easy replacement, it would have been an absolute breeze if I'd taken a picture of the original board before I unplugged everything... so PSA...TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR EXISTING BOARD BEFORE UNPLUGGING EVERYTHING.let's repeat that...TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR EXISTING BOARD BEFORE UNPLUGGING EVERYTHING.You'll never know how much pain you just avoided..... You're welcome.

The v1.1.5 board is the best plug-and-play upgrade I have made to any ender 3.It is the genuine article, though I should note that this particular board caused the LCD to display 'ender 3 pro', whilst others I have purchased displayed the usual 'ender 3' text.The noise reduction is astonishing, far superior to dampers and at no cost in terms of stepper motor temperature or print quality. The fan noise will be unaffected, so this is just one major part in a series of improvements that can be made.Installation can be tricky due to the hot glue present on the stock boards, and the cramped space. You may find it helpful to pull some wiring out from the case and work on the installation outside of the machine.

Great item easy to fit, printer is now near silent bar the fans which u can’t make silent, had to find the correct firmware for it.

I have an original 2018 Ender 3 with an 8bit board. The original wires were all tinned with solder and then put into the screw terminals and had begun to burn/arc in their fittings. (this is a known fire hazard, so this is another reason to get another board.)So I got this replacement motherboard to replace my burnt original 8bit motherboardThe only thing I changed was this Motherboard, and my printer went from a buzzing humming grinder, to an almost silent machine. The PSU fan is the loudest component, even when printing.I then got a crimping tool and crimped the wires with new metal termination blocks, so the burning won't happen again.(This is a MUST, skipping this step could lead to your printer burning/arcing through its terminal blocks and catching fire.)This is a no brainer, get this upgrade kit for your Ender 3.

Wow, I wish my recently purchased Ender 3 Pro included this board. You’d hope the ‘Pro’ would mean it did (mixed info when reading reviews about it).I checked my printer when it arrived and it came with a 4.2.2, whilst it worked fine, the noise after just 2 days of printing was enough to annoy you, and it travels far in out house.So, I opted for the silent 4.2.7 board, and wow, what a difference. I don’t really understand why the ‘drivers’ make such a difference, but they really do. This is so much better.I guess I’ll be looking for silent fans next!Install was relatively easy, plenty of videos on YouTube. Just a pain to snip off the hot glue used on the existing board. Remember undo all the screws in the green connectors before trying to insert the cables into them! Swap plugs and cables over one at a time to avoid mixing them up, and when sliding the board in - line up the USB and Micro SD slot first, then you can put the screws in.

When you buy this product it tells you that if you have ender 5 you will need to flash the ender 3 board with ender 5 program. Makes it seem sooo simple but after several tries and buying several new micro sd cards this board would not take the files and now I’m back to blue screen of death ! Go online and contact online support to just get auto response of “send this in email” absolutely disgusting!!!!

This is an upgrade that makes the printing process completely silent, it’s a nice upgrade to do and can be done by anybody following the guides online.I’m a complete novice and did a wire by wire transfer so I didn’t get lost or confused. I also took a before video and attached it to this post in case you want to see inside the black box before opening your Ender.Good luck!
