Scanner MaxiCOM MK900BT: MK900-BT 8in V2.0 Bidirectional Scan Tool

I recently picked up the MK900BT, and it’s been fantastic from the start. After updating the software, I was able to diagnose and repair multiple issues across my vehicles—things my old code reader simply couldn’t handle. The bi-directional control and ability to access vehicle modules have completely changed how I approach repairs. Instead of guessing based on fault codes, I can now run real tests and make confident, accurate diagnoses. The Bluetooth dongle is a huge plus—it lets me move freely with the tablet and test components on the spot, without needing a second person. You’re reading this review hoping it’s an honest review and worth purchasing… The short answer is - Yes, it is well worth it. If you’ve ever dealt with basic code readers and scan tools, you know how frustrating it is to only get basic diagnostics data and limited Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) error reset capability. Professional level diagnostic scanners are outrageously expensive for a DIY mechanic. For years I had relied on a basic scanner with very limited bi-directional capabilities. Basic diagnostic tools at least give you an idea what the problem is but not much more than that. The next step was to take my vehicles to a professional mechanic with an Advanced Diagnostic Tool. I relied upon them to get more specific information. Even my mechanic complained about not only how expensive the tool was, but they also had to subscribe to a very expensive annual service that allowed the daily use on multiple vehicles, but also to keep the tool current. I asked my mechanic if he could recommend an affordable quality scan tool, and he highly recommended AUTEL tools. I did the research and determined it was worth buying a tool with professional level capabilities, that would pay for itself, by not having to pay for a mechanic to diagnose my vehicles at shop rates usually exceeding $125/hour in my area for my diesel vehicles. I chose the MK900-BT because it had all the features you would expect from a professional scan tool including data logging, bi-directional test and interactive tests for every module and system sensor and best of all the ability to perform Diesel Exhaust Regenerations for us diesel owners! The cordless Blue Tooth Dongle allows you 33 feet of freedom to move around the vehicle and see what’s going on. The system has Wi-Fi, and can be used to wirelessly update and print if desired. There is an incredible variety of foreign and domestic vehicles built into the unit. I have used the MK900-BT not only on my vehicles but also my friends and families as well. It comes with a very high-quality hard plastic case with plenty of storage for, for the nice charger and cable, the Bluetooth Dongle and any documents. The purchase comes with a free 1-year subscription for updates.

Professional level tool on a good budget. Allows you to go into all the modules and view live data, run tests and diagnostics, service functions etc. Rugged quality and great support as well. Also for you diesel guys it can run different emissions functions and regens.

This is an excellent scan tool for my 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450. With Mercedes-Benz updating its ECU systems to use the DoIP Gateway, this scanner is well suited for the job. It allows me to read diagnostic trouble codes and clear them when needed. I also recommend purchasing AutoAuth, as it provides access to additional vehicle systems and advanced diagnostic capabilities. Overall, this has been a very useful tool for working with the electronics and diagnostics on my GLE 450.

Product support is horrible. I purchased this product just over a month ago several days after the date to return the product came and went the password Autel assigned me for the device is no longer working and they claim they have no record of my purchase, or registration. So I apparently have an almost $600 plus paper weight.

This product is amazing, easy to use and I was able to complete what I needed to be done with out any issues. Definitely recommend

I have had this scanner for about 5 months, but have only used it 5 or 6 times for code checking, data collecting, and performing cylinder cutouts. After the 4th use, the VCI kept loosing connection to the tablet and eventually it got hot and started to smell. I reached out to customer service and they provided step by step instructions on how to determine if the VCI was the issue. After completing the procedure, it was determined that the VCI was the problem and Autel shipped me a new one free of charge. With the new VCI, I was able to connect with the tablet and everything seems to work when connected to a vehicle. When performing a full vehicle scan, I have found codes in control units that never showed on other scanners I've used. The Auto VIN feature is really nice, and quick. I like the ability to link sessions to a repair order if needed, and being able to create a report is handy. The ability to add additional tools like a borescope or battery tester is pretty neat, and I hope to get those tools soon so that I can test them as well. One of my big hesitations when buying something like this online is support if something happens. At least with my experience, I would be comfortable buying more Autel equipment in the future. Overall, this tool isn't the cheapest, but does have a lot of features for a relatively low cost when compared to the more expensive options. Aside from my VCI issue, the scanner seems to be well built, has a nice weight to it, and the screen size makes it easy to see what I'm looking at.
