Canon DW-100 DVD Burner for Canon Hard Drive and Flash Memory Based Camcorders - International Version with No Warranty

My husband bought this after we had bought several computer softwares to try and get our videos from our 16 gb card to a disc. Nothing was working...at least not easily. This has made life SOOOO much easier. It is so awesome just to be able to hook up the camcorder to it...burn the DVD's and your DONE!!! I just wish we would have bought it sooner. All this time I wasn't using the camcorder because the card was full and I was having such a crazy time trying to get the videos on disk. I can't say enough good about this.

When I bought this burner, I was sure that I read that you could download the video to your computer, edit it, then upload it to the camcorder and use this burner to create DVDs. I was wrong. The burner will only take raw clips from the camera. And be sure to download them to the burner first, because if you download them to your computer first, the DVD burner won't recognize them even though the files haven't been touched. This is simply a device to create backups. I gave it two stars, because it does backup the raw data successfully.

My Canon DVD burner arrived well before the expected delivery date. I was so excited to receive it because burning DVD's ever since I bought my camcorder was always a real pain with no guarantees that the video would come out successfully. However, immediately after receiving it I set it up and burned a new video. It was so simple and within 14 minutes I had a finished copy in my hands. I am thrilled that the product arrived in excellent condition and was as easy as plugging it in and burn. SIMPLE!!!!

Hook up to camera, a couple of button presses & voila! - A DVD. Important thing to remember is the kind of DVD you get is a function of what camera/footage you shot - eg: a Canon FS100 (Standard Definition Camera) will create a "regular DVD" that plays in any DVD player... Other HD AVCHD format footage must be played back on a DVD player with AVCHD capability. Seems intuitive enough, but is worth mentioning. Other than that it is awesome & EASY! Just plug & go! Burns my SD DVD's in around 20 minutes. Unlike the previous reviewer, I had no problem making DVD's from SD cards that had been previously transferred to my computer. In fact - took older files shot previously from a Hard Drive on the same camera - put onto a SD card & back into the camera (Canon FS100) & burned a DVD... Maybe I'm just lucky! Anyway, a really slick & quick system for home movie type of footage especially where you really don't want to "edit" it or move to a computer first. Highly Recommended !
