Review: Choral Director Loves it! - I gave this CD to an accomplished organist and choir director in Houston, Texas, and she has passed it on to all her colleagues. She says it is a great CD and is very impressed with the choral selections. She has since purchased more CD's by Seraphic Fire.
Review: A Showcase for Young Male American Choral Composers - If you want to hear what young male American choral composers are doing, this CD is for you. The first half of the century is represented by one hymn, one Shaker tune, Barber's Reincarnations, and Lauridsen's Mid-Winter Songs. What is most striking are the works of several younger composers, including my two favorite, Dan Forrest (Good Night, Dear Heart) and Dominick DiOrio (I Am). Now that I've fallen in love with these works, I'd like to hear them sung by larger choruses. Hearing Seraphic Fire is thrilling . . . but the sound of these 13 voices is quite different from the sound of a traditional chorus.
