Needle Felting for Beginners: How to Sculpt with Wool

Such an amazing book for beginners and beyond. It has about 12 complete projects with great directions, templates for wool shapes and armature, and beautiful color photos of different ways to make each project your own.

This book is better than expected. I bought it to give as a gift and now I’d like a copy. Great explanations and helpful photos.

This book is loaded with a lot of ideas, instructions, photos, and advice. Though my work is very different, I am picking up lots of tips that I can and will use in my own needle felting. Glad I found this book. I'll be turning to it over and over again.

A pretty good value, lots of notions that one might use. Certainly a better price than you would have paid for these items separately.. The thimbles though , were a bit of a disappointment. One was misshapen , the second would not fit , even my pinky, and I have small hands. ( I imagine they buy them in bulk, and just put in kit.) The roving samples were many. Overall I give it a positive.

I decided to try felting several months ago. There are no felting groups or classes in my area, so I turned to Amazon Books and found this fantastic guide for beginners. The book starts out with an overview of the tools/ supplies you will need followed by an introduction to basic shapes with lots of tips on how to put the shapes together. Throughout the book there are detailed instructions for a wide variety of project ranging from very basic to more complex. With every project there are excellent photos to guide you and suggestions as how you can vary the project to make it your own. The book never "talks down" to the user and conveys a very positive approach. The photo show the first project I did.

For beginning felters, this book is a friendly and easy instruction manual. The photos, step by step instructions and guidance on colors, will help you create cute little critters by simply following the easy steps. It's the perfect guide to making little dogs, bunnies and mice - and their clothes! The book even shows how to make basic beginning shapes, how to use core wool and why it's important, and guidance on needle sizes and types. My only wish it that the book was hard backed - not paper backed - so that it would be easier to keep the pages opened and flat for easy reference while felting specific things. Otherwise, I highly recommend this book for those who are new to felting. After spending a week or two following the book's instructions, you'll be able to felt with confidence!

This is such a well illustrated and easy to understand book to learn needle felting. I took an online class several years ago but no reference materials were provided. I work better from this well detailed book. I highly recommend!
