Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) is a South American tree related to frankincense, myrrh and copal trees. Palo Santo means "Holy Wood" in Spanish.The tree has been used in religious and cultural ceremonies of indigenous people, usually burned as an incense to create a purifying smoke with cleansing and healing properties. The smoke has a pleasing smell, with hints of fir, mint and citrus.Palo Santo is said to expand creativity and help prepare and calm the mind for meditation, yoga and tai chi exercises or just create a feeling of mindful relaxation.
