Great boots, great fit, high quality!
Best boots ever, they fit great and they are super comfortable. I had other brand of boots during the police academy and they were uncomfortable and heavy and gave me blisters. At the academy we had to run in boots and ran a lot and ran everywhere, I discovered these boots almost at the end of the academy when I saw them in a classmate. He loved them and so do I. The boots I had before had a side zipper and I though that was helpful during quick changes but these boots are even better! The speed laces make them so easy to lace up and get going. Incredibly comfortable, is like running with sneakers. Pros: Lightweight True fit. Almost no break in period (2 or 3 10 hour days did it) Speed laces make them easy to put on and take off. The soles are comfortable Good support everywhere. Great craftsmanship. Cheap Cons: To give them a shine took about 5 hours, the came in flat black, to shine them up to academy standars took about 16 coats and then some. A lot a lot of work. But after the shine was completed they hold shine very well. Not made in the US, Vietnam made. I have not run into any issues that other people has mentioned. They first pair I had went through a lot of abuse at the academy, a lot of running and push ups and tactics trainig including jumping over 6 foot walls and chainlink fences and the most important....... hours of marching! With all that abuse the sole help up very well and so did the boots. I was using them well after the academy. They would've lasted me longer but I made the rookie mistake of trying to put out a road flare by stomping on it and that did not work out well, it almost burn a hole through the sole but as I learned, a road flare will burn a hole through any sole. I highly recommend these boots and actually all danner products

Great boots
I work for a large urban PD. Iโve been wearing these boots on patrol for the past three month. Iโll give you the good and bad of the time Iโve worn them. The bad: Break-in... A lot of reviewers say they have no breakin period but mine took about a week to really feel โright on my feetโ. That said theyโre awesome once theyโre broken in Polish... first polish flaked right off. I stripped with alcohol and polished with parade gloss. Now theyโre good to go. Iโd recommend stripping whatever danner puts on with alcohol before you polish Breathablity... not an issue for me but if youโre prone to athletes foot you may want the non-gortex version. These do breath better than Danner Patrols or Acacias The good: Weight... these boots are light as feathers Fit... I have a wide foot and got the regular width. After a week of wear they fit like gloves. No hot spots, no discomfort. Iโve stood for long periods and ran in these and theyโre great Durability... I was always skeptical of this type of boot based on their flimsy build. Not the case with these. While theyโre flexible and light the soles are still sturdy enough to deal with the rigors of patrol work and the upper is made of tough material. Waterproof.... Iโve trudged through puddles and rain during the monsoons here and my feet stayed dry Bottom line: Iโd recommend these to anyone looking for a lightweight yet tough patrol boot thatโll fit and feel more like a sneaker

Did my feet grow, or did they make them a bit smaller now?
I bought a pair of 13-D boots 2 years ago and immediately was unhappy. 1- When putting the boot on, there was no structure to the upper part of the boot. It's basically leather and water-resistant mesh. The bottom of the boot kept flopping around as I tried to pull them on. 2- There isn't a pull tab or loop to help you pull the boot onto your foot. As I pulled it onto my second foot, I heard and audible short 'RRRP' and thought I tore something. It seems that I didn't do any damage but it scared me about my new boots. 3- They were snug. Very snug. Not to the point that they hurt, but were a bit uncomfortable. 4- They were quite light, to the point that I worried about their durability. I had previously been buying Magnum boots in the $80-110 price range and these were $150+. I thought about returning them but decided to try them for a few days. And I am glad I did. They broke in within a week or two and ended up being the most comfortable boots I have had in a long, long time. The bottom of the boot upper (not the tread) is durable leather about an inch high. Anything hitting the side of the boot will hit leather. The rear going up to the top of the boot also has a leather strip, from the ankle upwards, giving a bit of protection from something hitting your foot from behind. The rest seems like mesh, but does not let in water if you quickly remove your foot after going into a good sized puddle. I will wear anything from a 12.5 wide to a 13 to a 13 wide, depending on what kind of shoe / boot / sneaker I am getting and how the manufacturer sizes them. For winter wear I would often get a wide to handle thicker socks. After a year and a half the tread wore down to the point where I needed new boots. I decided to get a pair of Magnum Stealth Force 6" waterproof boots. I bought these in the past and remembered liking them. When I got them they felt like bricks. Very heavy compared to the Danner 8" boots, and though I did get a wide, they seemed a bit loose around the toe. I wasn't thrilled, especially since they wore unevenly after about 6 months. I decided to get another pair of Danner 13-D boots. And the two year newer Danners hurt like h@@@. They squeezed my toes to the point that my toes bunched up and I got blisters. I had to wrap sports tape around my toes to wear them I hoped they would break in and widen a bit but no-go after a month. Athletic socks I wore with these started getting holes on the side of the toe from the friction of the tight boot. I ended up returning them and getting the same boots but now in a 13-2E wide. I just put on the 13 2E wide and they feel snug. Not too snug. Just a bit uncomfortable. Just like the 13 D boots I got two years ago. So did my feet get a bit bigger? Or did manufacturing change a bit since I bought these before? I dunno. BTW, I'm wearing the same athletic socks I normally do, since these are actually pretty good in winter temps going down to freezing. I often wear thermals below 30F but haven't had problems with my feet being cold unless I stand in a snowdrift for a while.

These are great boots!
I have a pair of Danner hunting boots that I have had for over 40 years and they are still in good shape. How many companies can make that claim? That said, I was still concerned that these boots would work for me. Well, I am happy to say that those concerns were unfounded...the Danner quality prevails. First, just in case someone has the same issues as me I would like to mention my reason for selecting these boots. I had a surgery on my foot a few years back and afterward I developed a DVT (blood clot) in my right leg. It moved and I ended up with a pulmonary embolism and well...I almost died. What saved me was the fact that I ride bicycle...hard and fast, so my lungs were in good shape. Still, I needed treatment for the blood clot as my leg was swelling really bad....like an elephants foot. An interventional radiologist did perform a procedure to try and relive the swelling and although it helped I still have a lot of swelling in my right foot. So....I needed a boot that would give me room for that swelling but still lace up enough to fit mt left foot. I also still ride bicycle daily and wanted a boot that was waterproof. I also needed a boot that would look good enough for work. Well the Tachyon 8" GTX fit the bill. First, I wear a size 12 and 12D's fit perfectly, leaving me plenty of room for my toes. They are incredibly light too, which for mountain bike riding is great. The soles stick to my pedals without slipping even when wet. I can lace up the boots for both of my feet...even the swollen one, and the fit is great. They are easy to get on and off thanks to the nylon upper as it allows my socked feet to just slid right in. With leather boots the the leather uppers grab my socks pulling them backward against my toes. They are very cool boots too, so if you have hot feet these are great. I did have one problem which is the seam on the back of the uppers. It rubs the back of my foot, but I think that it will even out as a callus forms on my heel. I always have found taller lace up boots to be hard to get the right level of tightness and in my case now, the problem is even worse. I would always have to loosen the laces or tighten them. So what I did was buy some elastic cord and made a pair of laces for these boots, similar to what Keens sandals do. That works great as the stretch in the laces allows the boots to remain in a comfortable level of snugness. Good boots...no...great boots.

Best boots I have purchased
These are by far the best boots I have purchased thus far and I have gone through plenty of other brand name boots. I love, love, love how light weight these boots are and how amazing they feel on my feet. When people at work ask me about my boots I always compare them to using Pirelli tires on a sports car. Light weight, no slip, aggressive, long lasting and best of all waterproof. It doesn't get much better than that. I use these boots 5 days a week 10 hours a shift in the harshest conditions on the border of South Texas. The summers here are killer hot and humid. I tend to sweat alot from my feet and these boots keep my feet cooler and drier than any other boot I've tried. During Winter it's very wet, muddy and the terrain is very challenging at times but I have no problem going through it all with these boots due to them being waterproof and the tread being non slip vibram material. My previous pair of these Danner Tachyon GTX boots lasted me a year before I bought these which is actually amazing considering how much abuse they went through. I did not treat my last pair with any type of leather preserver, just an ocassional kiwi boot shine. I noticed after a while that the boots in the crease that develops in the toe portion from walking cracked a small bit and the toe separated from the sole on the front a little. I was able to repair the front with super glue but was unable to fix the cracking from the side which eventually allowed water to leak into the boot. This time around I treated the leather with sno seal and so far so good. Hopefully this will prevent the cracking a year from now. Overall, these are great boots for any type of hardcore hiking or trekking. If your looking for a light weight alternative to your danner Acadia or Fort Lewis duty boot, you have to give these a try.

Narrow toe box
The fit was narrow around my toes. Very uncomfortable just in the toe area. I liked how it felt around my ankle and legs. Very light and comfortable but the toe box was too tight.

Worth the money
Excellent boot! Extremely light weight, much like the Nike boot. They have the same response and feel as a sneaker when running. This boot is actually waterproof. I have been ankle deep in standing and flowing water and my feet stayed dry. The toe does scratch easily and will fade with everyday use in about a year. Overall worth the purchase.

Best Boots ever. Be careful of sizing though!
These boots RULE. I have awful feet and I've never found a pair that fits as well or looks as good! They weigh nothing. Good grips, just shy of zero drop , no big chunky heel. Wide toe box means your feet and toes can breathe and move the way they are supposed to. No stiff ankles either. The material is so light and flexible you can move your ankles properly. So far they are pretty good in the snow and cold too. If you're looking for rigid ankle support, don't buy these. I'm on my feet 9 plus hours a day on concrete and they feel amazing. Right out of the box too. No break in time. I'll be getting another pair for regular wear. *** Note on sizing. I'm a womens 8-8.5 and I have narrow feet. I originally ordered Men's size 7 which should translate to women's size 9, as I wanted to be able to wear thick socks in winter. The Mens 7 was right at the end of my toe and almost too narrow... So I returned them and got an 8 Men's. Which should translate to a women's 10. But doesn't. I have ample room and can wear thicker socks than normal, but not big wooly ones. If there was an 8 wide available I would've gotten that. Suffice to say the 8 is working out excellent so far. Feet are warm in -6C and can still move. So if you are female I would suggest ordering your normal women's size in mens. (If you take an 8 - 8.5 women's, order an 8 mens) and if your foot is at all wide I would highly suggest the wide version. Other than the weird sizing these boots are PERFECT, and way cheaper through Amazon than getting them from the manufacturer.

Danner Tachyon sizing and fit
I would say the fit was good. A good size guide would be NB 2E sized running shoes.

Tough as nails and waterproof
Great boots. Ive abused them for a year now. Still in one piece, and has never, ever let my feet get wet. Used them for everything from hunting to sawing firewood.
