Hard to Understand but technically accurate?
It’s super technical not an easy read. You have to be an Engineer or architect to really understand the book so be prepared

Very great read
You never know what knowledge is good to have in certain situations. Definitely a good and insightful read.

Not written for the layperson
This book is about converting existing basements in commercial buildings into bomb shelters for 40 or so occupants. It reads like it was written for structural engineers in WW2 Britain. I wonder if the author heavily relied upon WW2 civil defense documents from Britain. If you want to build you own family-size bomb shelter in your basement and are not a structural engineer, this book is not for you.

Too technical for a novice to start with
This is written for somebody with a background in building and is adept at reading it. As a novice it provides me no positive direction and really makes me less interested in taking it seriously. Frankly I'm more convinced that a simple shipping container type shelter is more logical to pursue. Still I must say that if you're comfortable with more technical building language this is likely a great book for your bunker build, just not me.

The worst book on this topic I've ever seen!
This is the worst book on this topic I've ever seen after about 40 years of reading and collecting like minded books and magazines etc on this very important subject. It is written by a German engineer so maybe that explains some of it but you'd think he'd supply clear architectural drawings etc but the ones in the book are almost incomprehensible. I've had drafting and even CAD/CAM classes so I know a little of what I'm talking about esp after looking and doing blueprints myself for more than 20 years. I would reccomend you buy any other book except this one. Save your money. Subscribe to Mother Earth News or pick up a Rodale book of any kind and you'll do better to survive. Go to FEMA.gov and get blueprints for free, that although they too have problems you can see and understand enough to get started.

Save your money. Look elsewhere for this information.
The content is very poorly written or poorly translated from the original German. Written by an engineer for other engineers, not for the ordinary guy wanting to build a home shelter. Very technical and detailed in some places and extremely vague in others.Physically the book, really just a pamphlet, looks like it was made on a copy machine and glued together in someone's basement. Pages and cover are not aligned and cover isn't trimmed along one side.Disappointing.
