Assembly nightmare, sturdy results
Solid, attractive couch without any annoying tailbone irritating supports. The included mattress came without a futon cover, but that doesn't matter greatly. What DOES matter is that the instructions appear to be written by someone who has no linear thinking nor any sympathy for those facing a pile of non-delineated patterned lumber, hardware with little differentiation, and two sets of instructions, one of which says ,"ignore the other instructions". With this auspicious beginning, how could anything go wrong? Those with superstitious blood understand the dire consequences of such utterances. I wasn't disappointed.Granted, I did start on a high traffic floor space, accompanied by 4GSDs who had to supervise my efforts while simultaneously staring out the front door and the addition door. Since my project was placed in the exact traffic pattern. This doesn't faze me, kids and dogs are part of any project, just ask the dog with a slight smear of shower caulk on a tiny patch of back fur.Admittedly, I wasn't at top form when I started, but putting things together had been my profession/vocation for my entire adult life. Cars, clothes, minor electrical repair, etc. Hubris struck me down and I had to get up and walk away, leaving the mess for my poor husband. When I heard " Who in the (hot location in the deep southern strata) wrote these (act of sending someone to that location) instructions?? They make no sense, they're contradictory and ambiguous!", I knew he took up the gauntlet. I prayed that this piece was worth the cost, in tact despite the destroyed packaging, and worth the blood, sweat and curses to put it together.Well, my husband spent the rest of the evening and most of the early morning hours assembling this item for me.The next morning I was greeted by a nice, clean and sturdy futon sofa. It even had a dog pre-installed for proper effect. The 8"mattress is comfortable and the seating depth is ideal and the seat back is perfect, it isn't too tall to fit under living room windows without blocking them. From the reviews of this teens who seem to enjoy sleeping on it (in couch position), it is almost the ideal seating surface for us. I will be relieved when the vinyl cover arrives, it's becoming a family nest of sorts with food, laptops, wires and guitar strings.»Final construction: excellent quality.»Instructions: maybe Google translate and 2 less pieces of included paper. Have lots of ice water or iced tea handy along with necessary tools. A pencil to make marks when you successfully identify a piece in spite of the directions. The pictures show a different product than the one you're assembling. Very tricksy. The instructions are more inspirational than tutorial, you get the gist of the process and toss them aside.»Mattress does tend to need to be scooted back up, it seems to try to dribble onto the floor in couch position. I'll probably make a thingy to keep the mattress in place, or some ties to attach the mattress top the frame. There is always duct tape if I lose my patience.
