TExES (113) English Language Arts and Reading/Social Studies 4-8 Exam Secrets Study Guide: TExES Test Review for the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards

This is the worse book. The ELAR covers nothing that is one the test. Rather it gives you a overview of ELAR that while interesting will not help you on the test.The Social Studied section is a little better. If you can find ANYTHING ELSE buy that instead. This is the second time I have had a problem with the Secrets book and I only bought it because there is nothing else available for the texes 113. You would be better off buying 2 books the ELAR and the Social Studies 4-8 separately.

I passed my test, but with little help from this book! Mostly a waste of time and doesn't cover any Texas History (which is a major component of TX Social Studies). Also doesn't mention anything about teaching reading and writing fundamentals

I ordered this for my brother, and it came in good condition, no rips or any damage

It has many grammatical errors. At first I thought that it was a horrid study prep book. However, I passed on the first try!Strategy... read the book, if there is anything you don't recognize, look it up. Take the test. That will help you find out which competencies you need to work on.Work on them, then take the test again.

This book was not a good resource, in my opinion. If I would've relied solely on this resource, I would've failed my test. I utilized resources from PasstheTexes.com and its information was more relevant to what I saw on the actual test. The latter was such a good resource that I passed the test the first time.

Very helpful for test prep

This study guide is a joke. It is just as bad as the flashcard system. The information covers only definitions on subject matter for a 7th grade Social Studies or Writing test. Another waste of my hard-earned money. Test preparation should be just that... sample questions and rationale explaining what the actual test will contain. I have purchased many of these resources and have not successfully passed two test in my content area.
