It's a nice wide tape that you can cut to fit. It does take more time using tape vs. sheets, but it's much less expensive than sheets! This is the best price I've found on tape so far. Be sure to apply it to ALL new upholstered furniture upon arrival! This will stop further damage, but it can't undo damage that's been done. Experienced cat owners know that there will be damage done on the very first day! Place it higher than you think the cat will reach/go. You'll be glad you did. The tape is pretty easy to use. It's a little tricky to get the white backing paper off, but that seems to be the case with all tape. Press it firmly to the furniture then use your fingernail to scratch at a corner. After a couple of tries, you should be able to peel the backing off. Cats don't like the feel of anything sticky, which is why this works. You will have to reapply the tape in areas that get too full of hair to be effective. The old tape will come off without damaging the furniture. Depending upon your kitty, you'll probably have to keep the tape on upholstery for the life of your cat. Or just let them destroy the furniture. I prefer the tape. If you do it before your cat has the joy of scratching your furniture, you may be able to train them to only scratch their posts. It can be done!

This worked for my needs. I have a velvet couch and applied this to the arm rest the cats were using as a jumping-off point to a sideboard where I keep a lot of plants they were messing up. I also placed a scat mat (different product) on the area they would land. This setup has solved the issue and the kitties won’t go on the tape, which is very sticky. I’m sure they see the scat mat too and they get the picture. One paw on the sticky surface discourages any further attempts. Highly recommended!

PROS: In terms of what this product is intended to do it works AMAZINGLY well. I adopted a stray 2 month old kitten that I found and then immediately realized my apartment was in no way ready for a kitten so I ordered this to help make things secure. It only takes him two or three times of feeling the stickiness before he stops even trying. Example: my trash can became his favorite bed so every morning I was waking up to the trash can on its side and trash everywhere. It finally occurred to me to use the tape on it and so far it's been 3 nights with tape on the trash can and I have not woken up to a knocked over trash can since. Same goes for my shelves with decorations, and the cabinet that holds my cleaning supplies (that one is also secured with a child lock though, cant have him trying to eat lysol wipes or something dangerous like that so it gets double security measures). CONS: It is VERY sticky. I did notice one time that when he pulled his paw off the tape he shook his paw the next time he stepped on it. I checked his paws and he is fine but it is really sticky for kittens. What I've done to help is that now when I place it I stick my own hand to it a few times first. This helps get rid of the maximum stickiness but still stays sticky enough that it deters him. Hes a domestic short hair so it's not too bad, but may be more of a concern if your cat or kitten is long haired and has very furry paws. Second con is that it did take off some of the paint on my kitchen cabinets. That being said the instructions clearly say to test a small strip before using it on a large area so that one is kind of on me. BONUS FEATURES: So while this tape is intended to stop scratching, I found 2 other very useful features for it. 1: Keeping things in place. As always my kitten wants to gradually knock things off my desk and coffee table. A simple solution I've come up with is to stick this stuff on the bottom of whatever he likes to knock off and ta-da my pencil cup is now staying on my desk. 2: Keeping him from chewing cords. Behind my tv is a fair amount of cords. I did my best to organize and minimize them but he was naturally still very interested. I used this tape to bundle 3 cords together and it both helps in organizing and in stopping him from chewing on them. Overall I'm really happy with this product. Everyone who's complaining that it damaged their furniture or took off paint did not read the instructions or honestly just use common sense, the second I felt how sticky it was I had a pretty strong feeling it was gonna take some paint with it. Also the most important note to add is that YOU NEED TO GIVE YOUR CAT AN ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATIVE SCRATCHING SURFACE. Cats have a need to scratch so if you use this tape but dont give them anywhere acceptable to scratch it's just gonna be a cycle of them finding a new thing to scratch that you are also not ok with. Embrace the scratching, they need it on the same level that they need a litter box. It's not just a toy but a legitimate need for your cats health and happiness.

This is truly magical! It is the only thing that has stopped our cats from scratching our couch or chairs in our house. Pretty easy to use! You cut to size and sick to whatever you want. It doesn’t damage furniture but might damage your long hair. Be careful not to lean on it as it’s super sticky.

The tape is not very sticky. My cat was able to pull it off of the furniture. It did stop her from scratching, but made a sticky mess left behind on the furniture. Plus, once she pulled it off then there was bits of sticky tape on the floor.

a year after wrapping my ottoman the tape has lost its sticky with dust, dog hair, and grandbaby whatnot, the cats still stay FAR away. The way they hate this tape is amazing ! I highly recommend it on stairs, chairs, couches, box springs, baskets, or ottomans.

Very disappointed with this Cat Scratch Tape\. It made my rugs and couch extremely sticky, and the glue residue does not come off easily even after trying to clean it\. Instead of protecting my furniture, it created an even bigger mess\. I would not recommend this product, especially for fabric couches or rugs.

Funciona, al final es una cinta doble cara gruesa , no tiene diferencia alguna que un papel contact, obvio el gatito se pega y no rasca pero Cualquier plástico transparente pudiera funcionar

My cats have a cat tree and have used them for years no issues until they decided oh the stairs are carpet to! And decided to attack my steps i immediately ordered this and put it on every corner of every step in the house. Worked like a charm. The tape roll is huge and I will get alot of use out of it. I simply cut the tape to fit in the corners and to the size of the steps. Peeling it off was simple once you do it once you figure out how to grasp and pull the back off with no issues. Best invention ever they hate the sticky tape!

Purchased this when cat sitting as the cat was prone to scratching furniture. It worked really well and had no issues with the adhesive on the fabric couch for up to two weeks. Around the two week mark, the ends started peeling off but this was fine for us as we were only cat sitting for just over 2 weeks. Kept our couch in pristine condition.
