Brooklyn Pipe Vintage Collection Every DIY project is different so we’re excited to introduce the Brooklyn Vintage Collection. These pipes are just like old school black pipe you find at your local hardware or plumbing supply company. Featuring a deep gray/black color and a smooth surface, the Vintage Collection from Brooklyn Pipe has a great industrial look and fee. Finished with an extra light coating of oil which ensures that your pipes will arrive rust free. Cleaning & Sealing We get asked all the time if it’s necessary to seal our products. While we do recommend sealing in most cases, a general rule of thumb is if you are placing your project in a room that has high levels of humidity (bathrooms, kitchens), you’re going to want to seal them. It only takes a few minutes but will ensure your pipe projects last years to come. Step 1: Remove the thin layer of oil by wiping down the pipe with a rag with acetone, mineral spirits or other solvent will do the trick. You can even use a dry paper towel or rag, you don’t need to be perfect here. Step 2: Seal your fittings with either use paste finishing wax (our favorite) or polyurethane with a matte finish. These 2 sealants will provide all the corrosion protection you need while maintaining the look and feel of the industrial pipe. Step 3: Start building your project! Packaging We package all our products in boxes so when they arrive, they’re in the same condition that they left the factory in. SUPPORT AMERICAN BUSINESS We are a small business in the United States. and provide the best customer service in the industry. We’re always available to help, whether there’s an issue with an order, or if you want to talk about your project. ☎ CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER: 516-778-5678

Great price, great customer service, some limits on complex applications.
First, customer service is quite good; I would give Brian a 4/5 on that count, as he promptly responded to an email I had about a concern. Would give 5/5, but didn’t get a response to any follow up emails. But, he was super nice and explained why they use the pipes they do.The pipes are fine quality; they look good. Nice finish. A few caveats, though, that should be mentioned:1. If you are using them for simple applications, such as a single leg that attaches to a shelf with a flange, they work fine. Just tighten up the flanges and attach.2. However, if you are building complex shelving or artistic pieces, you may run into some problems (as I did). The threads on these pipes are WAY shorter than standard pipe threads. For this reason, if you screw a coupler, a T coupler, or an elbow onto a pipe, when it hits the “tight” spot, you CANNOT tighten any further, because you are out of threads! This is not a problem for simple applications, but if you are building a shelf with t couplers and supports that all have to point the same way, this is a MAJOR problem. If you back off to make things point correctly, the fitting is loose and wobbles.3. I had to eventually return all of this pipe for the application I was building, and went with more expensive local pipe from a Plumber’s wholesale warehouse. What I found was that the pipe I got there was (1) much heavier grade (elbows and tees felt like twice as much metal, and the flanges were a couple of cm bigger in diameter), (2) standard threading, making it very easy to adjust everything with pipe wrenches so that orientation of elbows and t-couplers were as needed.Aside from that, there are definitely pros to this pipe:Again, price is simply phenomenal (it cost me double the price to obtain the standard pipe locally). Secondly, Brian is super nice and I think trying really hard to make customers happy. Third, if you are building a very simple application where you don’t have multiple joints that all have to be oriented exactly, then this works fine, for much less expense. Finally, if it bothers you to see any threads showing, then the shorter threading on these pipes solves that problem.Just be aware of the limitations on complex applications. I will definitely order this pipe again in the future for appropriate applications.

Perfect
I have been using these to build industrial type brackets for home made shelving for my collection of video games. I needed to find a more cost effective solution than going to the big box store and spending $5 for 1 of these pipes. These perfectly fit my needs for what I was using them for at a very good price. They arrived quickly and were very clean. If you've ever used the black steel pipe from the box stores you know about the black hands you get from handling them. I gave them a quick wipe down and gave them a quick paint. Couldn't be happier. I plan on ordering more.

Nice look!
Great for making furniture and shelving. This stuff has a nice sand blasted look to it and it’s not stamped with made in China all over it. Definitely much nicer then the stuff pipe decor sells which just looks like all the scratched up pipe at your local hardware store.. I would definitely buy Brooklyn pipe again just hope the come out with unions soon!

Very nice finish - MUCH nicer than regular black piping for home decor projects
Great finish, threads screw in all the way unlike other pipes. MUCH, MUCH better than regular black piping for home interior projects (like for example "Pipe Décor" brand). Wish they made shorter lengths also. Really missing 4" and 5" lengths. Now my project is a mix of this really nice pipe and other far inferior pipes...

Exactly as advertised
It's hard to find these iron pipes in hardware store chains (often they have black steel instead) but this is a good way to find them. I was a little nervous about buying a product with zero reviews, but you should buy with confidence knowing that this is exactly as advertised.

Makes shelving easy
It was so nice to be able to just get a box of how many I needed instead of having to go fishing through a bin of greasy pipes at the hardware store. They were all straight and threaded well. Quick wash and they were ready to install.

Great product at a great price.
For my bookshelf project, these were great. Much cheaper than at Lowe's and it is much easier to buy them pre-cut and pre-threaded than to think you are going to cut and threat yourself...unless you have a powered threading machine.
