What happens to readings at higher temperatures say 100C

HelloThis meter is mainly for monitoring indoor air quality and has a range of -20c to 60c (-4f to 140f)It does not cover temperatures over 100c it is much higher than its range !!It measures relative humidity too from 5% to 95% .The operating temperature is -20c to 60c so you can not use it when temperatures are higher then 60c.

Does it have a protected cap

No it doesn’t have a cap, I’ve other sensitive meters that I keep in a small tote bag. But for the money and how long I’ve keep last two units. They’re a great valve!

Does the 971 lock in readings and automatically calculate the superheat like the Fieldpiece unit?

The Fluke 971 will not automatically do superheat.
