Starfrit 093299 Apple Peeler, Red

My friend demonstrated how wonderfully her Starfrit peeler worked, and since I couldn't get my own apple peeler to work, I ordered one like hers. And after using it just once, I'm sold! It's quick, easy to assemble, use, and clean. The suction cups hold it still securely. In no time, my apples were peeled, and ready for me to slice into my dessert. I highly recommend this handy little apple peeler. You won't regret purchasing this simple, handy little apple peeler.

This Starfrit apple peeler is one of the best and most ingeniously engineered kitchen gadgets I've ever seen! It is extremely easy to use, it works fast and takes very little of the apple core with the skin. In two days now I have made an apple pie and making apple sauce as this is written. It's an incredible time-saver, and kids will love the peels for a healthy snack. The 5 apples shown took about 30 seconds each, start to finish.

I was surprised how well this tool worked. It took a little experimenting to figure it out, but once I did, it saved me so much time peeling apples. It does not do well with soft spots or strangely shaped apples, but overall it is great. There may be a few missed spots, but those can quickly be cut away with a knife. Well worth the money! Mine did not come with the corer/slicer though.

Peeled a 2-dozen *fresh-ripe apples with just 2 fails.Centering the apple on the spikes as much as possible is a good idea. Even though the suction cups do a pretty good job at holding the device steady, bracing the base with your free hand also helps with alowing you to firmly rotate the handle at a steady cadence.*Make sure your apples are not "over-ripe"... the 2 that failed out of the dozen i peeled were a bit spongy-soft. The meat below the skin causes the skin to crush-in, causing the peel to bind/bunch/fold-up under the blade, allowing the blade to spring off the surface, then sliding out over the surface and repeating the effect over another area of the appple... require a reset, second pass over remaining skin. The ones that worked well, you get one continuous peel to come off the apple, as expected.Yes it seems kind of "toyish" but, it works as designed ... What would be cool is, if they made an all stainless steel, precision, clamp-down suction-cup one of these. But i suppose that would not be very cost affective since i don't believe there would be alot of demand for a $100 dollar apple peeler that does the exact same thing as this "Toy", LoL

I do a lot of apple peeling in the fall - this is my FAVORITE PEELER! Fast, east, and efficient. My kids even use it to peel their apples year around!

This product works as advertised with a few downsides: the suction to hold this in place wasn't the best and it moved on me several times; the handle would come off frequently (granted, you just pop it back on, but it was still annoying), and apple juice ran inside the mechanism and I have no idea how to get it out without tearing the whole thing apart. Other than that...it does peel apples quickly and neatly and I will use this every time I need to peel an apple.

This apple peeler works great! For an inexpensive item, couldn't ask for more. Plus, for someone as accident prone as I am, this is very safe! Wish I would have bought a long time ago. Saves lots of time when I hydrate my apples (dried apples) and/or when I bake my apple pies. Great time saver. Highly recommend.
