PlexiDorPerformance Wall Mount Pet Doors Silver - Energy Efficient Dog Door with Lock and Key

Been through a few of the cheaper plastic doors with my Huskies. Was a bit apprehensive but looked all over and only saw good things about this door. My favorite feature is it can lock, and then on top of that has a pretty sturdy pklate that screws ontop. It has been holding up great, its taking alot of abuse (getting pounded, scratching, and being run into at full speed) .Took the dogs a little to figure it out with the swinging doors. I would recomend this buy. I have had it installed for a little more that 2 months now.

The media could not be loaded. I had to purchase direct from manufacture because whoever was selling it on Amazon would NOT ship to Alaska. Even though this thing cost me $850 it was worth every penny because my dog kept destroying the flapper version. It does very well at -20* F keeping the cold out.

I have 3 dogs, a large 75 lb Airedale, a fragile old boxer mix and a 15 lb terrier mix. It took me about 3 days to shape them to exit on request. I let them re enter when ever they want. If I do not want them to access the doggie door I just block it with a piece of plywood. This is a sturdy, good looking wall mount door that needs to be installed by a professional handyman, I'm so happy I hired one.

We are very impressed with the quality of this door, having owned two others made by competitors. That being said, our cats are experiencing a pretty steep learning curve in trying to use the thing. This door hinges on the side where our other two swung from the top. It takes quite a bit more oomph to open because of a pretty stiff spring. I think it speaks to the quality and energy efficiency of the product, but our cats, who are very accustomed to using cat doors, are completely bamboozled by this door. After two MONTHS, one cat will use it reluctantly and the other is constantly stuck on one side or the other because he can't seem to figure out how to just charge on through (and believe me, it's not for lack of patience or instruction on our part). After being awakened from a deep sleep last night by the infernal flipping noise he makes when repeatedly pawing at the door (which is in another room) I just can't give this product five stars. If you purchase this door, I hope your pets are not as dim-witted as mine seems to be. Also, be aware that this door is as difficult to install in a wall as the other reviewers say. It took my husband, who is an experienced do-it-yourselfer, the better part of a day and a few choice words.

This door is promoted as being energy efficient. This door IS NOT ENERGY EFFICIENT. I was wrong to believe that the high price of this door was connected to energy efficiency. If you have money to waste, it's a nice looking door. If you think that money actually translates to value, don't go down that path. You will be very disappointed.

Nice door. REALLY, REALLY CHALLENGING TO INSTALL!You will need to cut both tops and sides to fit. Tough to do with a hack saw. I used a table saw, but most people don't have a table saw to make this manageable. I am a very experienced carpenter and installer and I found this product to be very difficult to deal with. The outcome is very satisfactory, but if you are the least bit timid about installing things, walk on by because this product will have you crying to your mama!

Love, love, love this door. We've had it several years and our 65-pound Catahoula and 40-pound Aussie mix give this thing hell but it just keeps swinging back like a champ. I swear, the dogs don't even slow down when they sprint through this door. We would go through regular flaps once a year and they'd become warped and lose their heat/cold keeping capability after a month or so. This door does a far better job of insulating against weather than the traditional flap door can. It's also comforting to know I can lock it for extra security, although it's hard to imagine anyone trying to crawl through with a snapping, snarling Catahoula on the other side. Yes, this door is pricy but if it lasts as long as I think it will, then it will be cheaper in the long run than replacing flap doors.

This pet door was installed by a licensed contractor (my brother). He said he would charge $500 to install another one. Other than the difficult installation, I am very happy with the pet door. My grandson and my two 95 pound dogs love it too!
