Water-Cooled VW Performance Handbook: 3rd Edition (Motorbooks Workshop)

Very good book. I hope they update to include later model Volkswagens. Common Rail-Direct Injection TFSI engines are a welcomeimprovement. The US auto press seem to berate the five cylinder VW engine. In Europe the TSFI five cylinder was engine of the year.I had an Audi with a 2.2 liter five cylinder, single OHC engine. Very good engine! In Europe I saw an Audi A6 with a five cylinder dieselengine.

I hate the previous edition of this book because it is useless but I have to give this one at least 3 stars for having more usable info. It is a very very general walk through of a lot of topics none of which are really explained in depth. This is a good book for the novice VW owner who wants to find out whats possible.

If you haven't been into the veedub scene, this is a great book to get you started. It touches on the topic and has some contributions from innovators in the scene. If you have been into the scene for a long time, non of this will come as a surprise and I wouldn't recomened it to you.

good read for the "office"

No focus on 1.8t Passat but still a good read

Great book for the newly initiated in the VW scene or a refresher for the "been there done that" car guy. Plenty of great, well explained, information on basic engine functions tailored for VW and Audi models. This would be good for a first car owner or someone just entering the car hobby.

Lots of excellent information in this book.

Some good information although can be a little lacking in detail but combined with a Haynes / Bentley workshop manual should give you some good ideas and help you through the process.
