Haunting Hour grownup point of view
I have decided that walt disney network is the closest thing to old time t.v. there is. I like Hannah Montana (and married with children) and Emily Osment makes that show. With no disrespect meant to Miley, Anything Miley has done, is because of hannah. Miley is Hannah. Emily Osment is a great actress who has acted with Missy Pyle (soccer mom) the spy kids??? series of movies and dadnapped. She is cute and can sing circles around miley, who can really sing. Oh, about the Haunting Hour. Emily makes that movie work. Brittany Curran is the perfect bad girl and the movie was filmed on location, I think in Canada. Great movie for kids or adults. I recommend it.

A great film with great characters, but the moral sucks!
A great film with great characters, but the moral sucks! Let me just say that Emily Osment's performance as a Goth teenager was perfect and spot on. As a goth of sorts myself, I even love how the other kids at school are portrayed in their reactions to Cassie. What I hate about the overall moral of this film however, is both the parents and Cassie's little brother. While parents don't always understand their Gothic children. I find it off-putting that they don't accept their daughter as she is, even going so far as to basically make her raise her own brother and ruin what they have to know is her favorite night of the year. In connection with my feelings about the little brother, the parents don't parent him at all.Now I have been a long time fan of Goosebump books since the beginning. I know that's how parents often are in these books/shows. Thus forcing the kids to grow and evolve and deal with the problem themselves. But the thing about this kid is. He's creepy! As I get older, I find myself hating that kind of person that the younger brother is, more an more. He goes into his older sister's room unwanted all the time. Then breaks her stuff and goes through her things without asking. This may sound sexist, but that just doesn't fly. He can't even make it through the night without bribes from his parents. Now I 'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little like him as a kid. But I was never that bad. I was actually more like Cassie. So going from extreme cowerdice to sneaking into and rumaging through his sister's stuff, this guy has "Future Rapist" written all over himself. If anything, this movie is like a remake of the book, "Cookoo Clock of Doom" with the gender roles reversed. Therefore it would've made a lot more sense if the younger brother got eaten because he was too scared to take action, then Cassie saved everyone else by taking action. Hell!! It's what she did the rest of the whole movie. Cassie litterally had to drag her brother across the finish line on this one, so making him look a hero in any way just feels wrong. As to my earlier comments. I would love to see a sequel to this one, but I can't imagine any plot other than the one where the ending of this movie leaves Cassie the lone survivor of her family due to the parents screwing up at the end of the first movie, and Maxx (Yes that's how it's spelled. Half way through elementary school, and he can't spell his own name right). getting eaten alive due to cowardice. Plus any therapist will tell you that people that cowardly, who also sneak in on people, only get worse when they grow up. The only other event I can imagine is Cassie killing her brother whe n she catches him spying on her from her closet while she's changing once he starts going through puberty. (He's a growing boy Cassie! He was just curious.) (Seriously! All plot points aside, these parents are raising a psychopath!)With the exception of Cassie's brother and parents I loved the movie though.

Looking for a "horror film" for kids
Then this is one of the best. It's fun with a moral. The movie rating says 12 or over, but my friends 10 year old thinks it's great, but judgement is best left to sensible adults.Cassie (Emily Osment, Haley Joel "I see dead people" Osment's little sister) is the new girl at the school and is having a hard time fitting in. Especially after she becomes the target of Priscilla, the school beauty, who thinks she is trying to make a move on what she considers to be her date for the dance, Sean (Cody Linley). In order to get revenge after she is embarrassed by Priscilla Cassie decides to play tricks on those who annoy her, inlcuding Priscilla - who in turn plots her own revenge on Cassie, with the apparently gullable Sean in tow.As halloween approaches Cassie comes across a shop which deals with occult items and buys a book called "The Evil Thing", which contains a warning "Do not read out loud", unfortunately Cassie wants to frighten her little brother and reads it out loud, and the evil thing is released. The subtitles available are: English, Danish, Finnish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. The soundtrack is available in: English, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. It's a good film, very enjoyable for any adult sat with children, and only a little bit scary for the young.
