Really easy to use and worked well!
Just went on a backpacking trip with a bunch of friends. We got water from a fairly shallow stream (a little deeper than a Nalgene is wide)that was clean looking and moving, but fairly slow. I used these drops and treated maybe 10L +, some of which was boiled and used for cooking and some which I drank with only the drops as treatment. Firstly, none of us got sick, as is the most important thing. Secondly, I didn't notice any taste at all from the product which is something you can't say about iodine tablets. Thirdly, keeping track of the time for the two parts to activate and then "work its magic" is really easy if you have a digital watch. For anyone going out into the wilderness, I would definitely recommend this as your source for water treatment. (Of course it doesn't filter out particles of sand, algae, what have you, which should be obvious.) The long shelf life also means I'll be able to use this on trips far into the future, so it's a good value too.

Light, Convenient, Awesome for Backpacking
I used these while backpacking for a couple of weeks in the Sierras and they're awesome! You have to wait five minutes before adding the mixed drops to the water and I actually liked that. It gave me a chance to just sit and enjoy the stream or lake where I was gathering water. Purifying water just became part of the rhythm of the day. The taste is barely perceptible, and adds just a hint of tartness to the water. I've used a Sawyer filter previously, but like the drops better in that I knew they'd always work and they have no issues with plugging up or the bag breaking (both of which have happened in the past with the Sawyer). Drinking water straight from a clean source will always be the most enjoyable but there aren't many sources on the main trails that are totally trustworthy so these drops are my go-to now.

Taste free, convenient, dependable.
I think this chemical treatment should serve as everyones back-up, if not their primary water treatment when backpacking/camping. It is super convenient and leaves no aftertaste (if you wait 10-20 minutes to drink after adding to your water, you're supposed to wait 30 min anyways). I have used the tablet form of this and would not recommend it. If you try to use it in colder water they take forever to dissolve, if at all. For my last trip, the particular concern was tapeworm cysts. The NPS recommends boiling or filtering and following up with chemical treatment. My plan was to filter then use my Steripen, I tested it before I went but it didn't work when I went to use it in the field, replaced the batteries and it still didn't work.So the rest of the week I filtered and followed up with the Aquamira, no issues. If you need to rely on something, this stuff is difficult to beat.

Worked well, didn't get sick, slight chemical odor
I got these along with the Aquamira "straw" filters ( Aquamira Frontier Emergency Water Filter System ) for a trip to Mexico. Since I didn't get sick and the water tasted good using the two in combination, I was perfectly happy with these. The way these work is the following: (1) mix 7 drops from each of the two bottles in the provided cap. (2) wait 5 minutes for activation (the solution turns from clear to yellow). (3) add the solution to 1L (32 oz) of water and shake or stir. (4) wait 15 more minutes to purify the water. (5) at that point you can drink it with chemical taste, or use the filter straws to remove the taste plus anything else that might be in the water. What I did was to get one of the 1L Platypus water bag-type water bottles and try to keep it always full with water treated from these drops. I decanted that water into glasses or other water bottles to hold it after treatment, and then used the Aquamira straw filters on that water to taste clean and fresh. This way I always had water available, and did not have to wait after the initial start-up time for the first bag. I also used this water to sanitize hotel glasses (just fill them up with the treated water) and my toothbrushes (soak them in the treated water). So those are nice bonuses. I liked it enough to but extras for our home emergency kit as well. Why not 5 stars? Well, for one thing it's hard to say that I "love" water treatment! For another, they do take a bit of time and have chemical odor that really necessitates the separate filters. On the other hand, it seems to work well and I'll happily get more when needed. As for whether you need water treatment in Mexico, I've heard that it depends where you go. I was in Mexico City and the guidebook recommended it. I also noticed at the airport that the immigration officers' desks all had advertisements for Samsung water purifying containers. Given that the government itself seemed to be advertising the need, I guess it's a good idea. Have a good trip!

Awesome. Very slight chlorine taste if you're looking for ...
I've used these on there continents for almost a decade, and I can't see why anyone would prefer a filter. Taste: Awesome. Very slight chlorine taste if you're looking for it. In fact, it eliminated a weird, sulfurous smell that my friend's filtered water had. Ease of use: If you can operate an eye-dropper, you can use this product. Takes 15 minutes to begin working, but I usually just finish off my water before treating a new batch, and don't think to drink till it's ready anyway. Anecdote/Effectiveness: Used this to treat stagnant, turbid water in a South African desert and came away unscathed. + Tastes good + Elimiates odors and off flavors + Stronger oxidant (sterilizer) than chlorine tablets or iodine + Far smaller and lighter than a filter (yes, even your Sawyer) + Faster than most filters for 2+ Liter batches + Kills viruses that pass through filters + Penetrates membranes and biofilms that chlorine and iodine cannot - Takes 15 minutes - Expires (couple year shelf life)

A hikers/backpackers "must have" item.
Aqua Mira, whats not to love?? lol. I have been using this stuff for over 15 years on my extended hikes into the wilderness and have never regretted it. cheaper, and lighter than a water filter, dont have to worry about batteries and cleaning it, and is super simple to use! It can have a bit of a chlorine taste to the water if you drink it right away, but if you plan ahead and treat your water ahead of when you actually need it then there is no taste at all. It will be a very sad day when this stuff is not available to use anymore (not that i see that happening soon, but it always ends up happening with products over time).

I have used this all over the world while adventure racing and traveling - amazing
I've relied on Aquamira for years while adventure racing and doing adventure travel in numerous countries and drinking from questionable water sources. It is easy to use and has never failed me. Works fast and doesn't add bad taste to water. I have experience using iodine tablets, iodine drops, water filter pumps, UV water filters, and the good old boiling water approach... Aquamira is generally my first choice before any of these (though in some cases you may choose another method - e.g. while mountaineering, melting snow for water). Usage note / idea: I pre-mix it in a dropper bottle prior to any event or outing where I need it - while this is not officially best practice, as long as it stays yellow, I've found it remains effective (and in situations when you don't have time to be mixing it in real time, you need to do something like this). I find it stays good for about a week, but then will go clear, at which point it's no good anymore.

Amazing but leaks
I absolutely love these drops for backpacking and day hikes, super light weight, small, and easy to use. BUT the bottles leak like crazy if you are not careful. The altitude makes it work so if you plan on flying with it or hiking at high altitudes just be aware you might not get as many uses out of it. With my second pair of these I kept it in the plastic and placed it somewhere in my pack so that they always stood up vertically which helped but did not completely solve the issue, just a design flaw they will hopefully figure out soon. As far as ease of use I give it 5 stars, and I never noticed a taste which is a huge plus.
