I'm a fan
I bought these on a whim to use at work to help keep me on track for the day. After trying, unsuccessfully, to switch to a digital note system, I decided that if it isn't broke, I'm not going to fix it. Hello, old analog friend! Enough about me, on to the notebooks. These are fantastic, especially considering the price. They fit easily in a pocket, are well made and handle fountain pens surprisingly well with minimal ghosting. I have not experienced any issues with the binding or pages falling out (nor have I seen any reason to believe that will happen). When I purchased them, they were on sale, buy two packs, get one free. Breaking down to approximately $1 each on sale, these are a steal. I don't know what is to be gained by opting for the much more expensive brand of these style notebooks, but to each their own. In my opinion, they're worth every penny vs fumbling around with my phone and looking rude every time I need to take note of something important. Different systems may work better for different people, but classic note taking works for me and my ability to stay organized is restored again. Well done, Portage!

works well, sturdy
I always carry a pocket notebook. have been using moleskine for years and went looking for a cheaper option. these have sturdy cover and write nicely with G2 gel pen. might be making the switch for the value

Great value for money, but the lines are darker than most notebooks
This is a good value for the price. I'm coming from the Moleskine Cahier, so in comparison, the pages in this notebook feel slightly thinner and smoother, but still very usable. Also, the pages in the Cahier are perforated to tear out easily, but these are not. Finally, I got the version with a grid on the pages, and the ink is very dark - to the point where it's distracting. If I get these again, I'll probably go for either blank pages or the dot grid. The size is perfect for carrying in a pocket. I've just started using the first one, so I'll update this review if I notice any issues with durability/sturdiness, but so far they seem just fine for normal EDC use.

Nice little notebook.
Perfect size and paper quality. And the cover looks to be durable to withstand a little abuse in my work pants pockets.Plus, the binding is stapled.Price point is also perfect.

Perfection
I love these so much. They fit in my jeans pocket and last several weeks, which is as long as I need them to last. I time block my day on the left page and use the right page for tasks and daily notes. It’s so much better than using a phone for such things. Simple, but a joy to use.

Not great for daily notes
Normally, I do not leave lengthy reviews. However, I bought these notebooks to see if they measured up to Field Notes. I have only bought one set of Field Notes, but found this product and thought I'd give it a try due to the cheaper price tag and amazing reviews of the product. I purchased the grid/graph paper because I prefer using graph paper. For me, this product is just OK. I will be going back to Field Notes when I'm finished with all 6 books of this product. Or, I may give them away to someone who might use them and purchase the field notes I want. I'm on the fence.Pros:-twice as many books for the price-more pages (But there is a white border that takes up a decent amount of page real estate, so I'm not sure just how effective this is...)-blank cover (even though field notes offers blank covers too, the inside cover is blank for artwork/contents or notes without taking up a page).Cons:-grid lines are WAY too dark. They make my notes look extremely busy and hard to read. I use bic 4-color ballpoint pens for color coding my notes, and they are just hard to read on the grid lines. With Field Notes, I can concentrate on my notes and not have to really concentrate on reading what I wrote between the dark blue lines of the graphs.-there is a white border around every page. This border takes up a bit of page real estate and thus limits the amount of notes on the page and thus uses up pages much faster than anticipated, so the question is, are the extra pages actually useful?-squares seem to be a tad larger than the Field Notes squares. This is probably fine for some people, but I prefer the smaller squares.-Paper is not as thick as Field Notes. It does not have the premium feel. However, for ballpoint pens, it works just fine. It is decent, but not AS good as Field Notes. There is no ghosting, but the paper would have to be pretty terrible for ballpoint pen to ghost through. Sometimes I use Sharpie felt tip pens, and that ghosts through. All in all, this is an OK product. Just not for me. I gave them a try.

Perfect
I've never used Field Notes, but I can't imagine that they're any better than these - and they're twice the price. When you're a cheapskate, that matters. Moleskine Cahiers are fine, but that pocket in the back gets annoying when you're writing on the last couple of pages. These don't have any nonsense - no charts or waffling, no pocket. And the paper and my Fisher Space Pen are a perfect match - no blotching (which I get with the plain Cahiers) or smudging. They are perfect.
