Arca Swiss C1 Cube, Geared Tripod Head with FlipLock Quick Release (Plate Not Included)

First of all, it's expensive. After you get that out of the way, I think you will find it's the best tripod head you can get. The ease and flexibility of adjustments are just amazing, and allow you to fine tune a shot like nothing else I have used. All of the fiddling with a ball head to get the best shot then just deciding to crop is something that you will not miss, I promise. I have seen reviews that gripe about the quick release, and it is a bit different, but it is not something that should keep you from purchasing. The release can also be adjusted for other size/spec plates if you read the instructions. You must keep tension on the jaws to allow turning of the adjustment wheel.After that it is tight and secure even with a heavy, unbalanced setup. I run mine with a Cognysis long rail and it can attach at the end of the rail and still keep it steady even when the center of gravity shifts. I'm not sure if everyone needs this quality of head, but for my shooting style (macro and close up) it works extremely well. I highly recommend..

Arrived in great shape. I use it when not using my RRS ball head. Only wish it had a geared pan top :)

Fabulous device, a joy to use, worth saving up for.This thing is unexpectedly fast to use. Because it's far more precise than my ball heads it sets up as fast or faster whenever careful framing is important. -JD
