Great unit! Replaced a 10 year old unit the was getting noisy. The new one was super easy to install. Just 4 screws and 2 wires. Did not want one with a remote, but it seemed like to get electric opening it was the only choice. Glad I did the remote is awesome. Not only makes it easier to turn on and off, also tells you the power level of the fan and if it is blowing in or out. You can also set the thermostat.

This was bought as a replacement for a useless stock bathroom fan in a winnebago C-class motorhome. My wife could never reach the crank-up knob on the initial fan cover, or the switch. That is why I went with the Deluxe model. Motorized cover opening as well as wireless remote. Not to mention a "temperature control" feature if selecting the "auto mode". 10 fan speeds really pull a strong breeze into any window you leave open. Great night sleeping with a breeze being pulled into a window even when there is none. Reversible fan forces air in from fan, exiting the windows. Very low current draw. Max fan speed only drew 3 amps or less, when on the highest speed. Not even 1/4 amp when on speed 1 or 2. Roof prep takes longer than the install itself. I used Dicor 501 sealant for EPDM rubber roofs or TPO roof membrane. Be sure to use a plastic scraper AND a HEAT GUN to warm up the existing sealant to make removal easier. Be careful not to snag the rubber roof holes from under the removed flange screws. This jwill tean the roof membrane. Also used Dicor's rubber roof cleaner, rinsed with a watered sponge, then a rag with denatured alcohol. Then was all prepped for new butyl tape under fan's mounting flange, then Dicor self-leveling 501 sealant on top of flange and onto roof membrane. Thanks to the RV industry's standard 14" x 14" square opening, changing from one mfgr's fan to this quiet and powerful fan was uneventful. What a great product! and parts are available, such as circuit boards, fan blades, remotes, etc. so an entire fan won't have to be purchased if something breaks. I love this fan! And seller had it herte a day sooner than initially quoted. (CA to NJ). The attached pic is shown in the open position, vent grill to rear of vehicle. Can be left open in the rain too!

Perfect Buy! Excellent Durability, with a wide range of fan speed. The fit was perfect for a 14”x14” opening and I had no issues installing. I am a bit of a perfectionist and it took me about 1 hour to install it right the first time! It is a bit noisy at speeds above 4. However crack a window when getting up to those speeds because as soon as it can pull air without decreasing the pressure in the camper you will have almost no noise. Pro tips just from a guy that loves doing things right, I would ensure that you tuck the wires behind the control boards so that they are out of the way (see photo). Secondly I would cut the shroud 3/4” extra rather than the 1/4” to 1/2” in the instructions. I did mine at 1/2” but I think it would be better if I did 3/4”. I have no issues using it and it worked perfectly. We have also had a bad wind and hail storm since the install, and I have not seen any concerns with the structure or cracks. This fan is excellent and I have never had an issue with it.

Top brand. All the features. Can’t say whether it will last or not, but boy what an improvement over the original Fantastic Fan in my 2003 Casita! So quiet. I can hear myself! The old one had 21 rivets. Only the corner holes lined up. Drilled 12 new holes. Had to use stainless bolts and Nyla nuts with fender washers. Even so, it went in like a charm. Excellent 3 piece design makes install easy. Used a double thickness of waterproofing tape plus a good edge of white Lexel Stainless phillips heads look great. Interior trim is a little scary because it’s cut to size. Really no problem with a dremmel. Measure twice. Held my trim in place with hd sticky backed Velcro. Looks great. Fan works like a charm. Nice remote—a little big and clunky. Probably so it won’t get lost. Automatic raising and lowering of the cover is cool and a little noisy. Don’t care about the noise. Love this feature. The fan itself is super quiet through about 60%. That’s moving a lot of air very quietly. I’m extremely pleased.

Easy install

I bought the Maxxair over a competitors because it came highly reccomended and has the auto-function on as well. My only concern with this is that because the air basically has to do a 180 degree turn to exhaust, and I thought it might not flow as well. Installation was pretty straight forward, made easier by the fact I removed a non-fan vent and just used the old installation holes to mount it. I did re-drill holes in the Maxxair vent skirt to match, simply because I didn't want to drill another 20 holes into the aluminum frame since 24 were already there. All I did was make it match. Not a big issue. Wiring was easy, the only thing to remember is which wire is positive as they are black and white only, but handilly they pre-label the wires. Once installed, I cranked it up and was very impressed. It flows a LOT of air. It is rather loud at 100%, and would probably keep me awake at night (especially since it's right over the bed), but when I turned it down to 50% it was very reasonable. I know that with the RV all closed up, and the fan on high, I can feel it resist me opening the door due to the vacuum it creates inside. I left the RV closed up in the hot sun, and when I opened it all I had to do was open a front window, turn the fan on, and within minutes it was temperate inside. My worries about airflow were for nothing. The fan works, and works well. I also tested the fan at various speeds with an ammeter. With the fan exhausting air at 100% it draws almost 2 amps, which is quite a bit. Still, I have two deep cycle batteries, so that setting would easily last overnight. At 50% it was just under 600 milliamps. 30% about 200 milliamps, and at 10% only 60 ma. When I ran it with the air being blown into the RV, it used about 10% more power at the same settings. As I suspect most people will run it in exhaust mode, this is irrelevant. I figure I will run it between 30-50% most of the time as well, so the power it uses seems quite reasonable for what it does. The remote works well, and you can auto set it to turn on at what ever temperature you select. If you lose the remote, you can still operate the fan with the controls built in to it. The remote is IR however, so you have to have it within visual range of the fan to operate it. My only concern is that the fan and the skirt that goes into the square hole first are two seperate pieces. You put the skirt in from the top and screw it to the roof. The fan and hood assembly then 'sits' on top of that and gets secured with four bolts. It seems sturdy enough, but their is a little lip in the skirt that the fan fits over... Water will certainly get blown into that lip. There is no seemingly easy way for it to drain. Does it just stagnate there? Is it just supposed to evaporate and leave behind dirt? I'm not quite understanding the design, and looking at the pictures from the installation guide don't help. To be clear, water won't leak into your RV, but will just sit in that small lip for a while (see pic). I called the 800 number that came with the installation instructions to inquire about this, and after going through the phone tree was given another number to call. Upon calling that number, and going through the phone tree, I got a recording telling me to that "if you are a retail customer" to contact "a retail service center near you". I tried some other extensions for support, but never got through to anybody. So.. no support there. An easy fix is to seal it up with silicone, which is what I'm going to do. (see attached photo of that gap where water could get into.) This fan is expensive, and even with that weird lip around the upper skirt, if it holds up to the test of time it will have been worth it. Installing and learning how to operate it was pretty easy and so far I like it.

The MAXXAIR Maxxfan Deluxe Vent exceeds expectations as a ventilation solution for vans and RVs. After installation, I noticed an immediate improvement in air circulation and temperature control. While some reviews mention noise concerns, my experience has been quite different. At lower speeds, the fan operates with remarkable quietness - so much so that visual confirmation is needed to verify operation. Even at maximum speed, the noise level remains reasonable and unobtrusive. The fan's performance stands out, but one area for improvement is the installation process. A mounting template would streamline the setup considerably. Despite this minor drawback, the Maxxfan Deluxe has proven to be an excellent investment. Its combination of efficient ventilation and quiet operation makes it a valuable addition to any van or RV setup. The unit's ability to maintain comfortable interior conditions while running almost silently addresses one of the main concerns in mobile living spaces - maintaining comfort without excessive noise.

We watched this fan for weeks as the price fluctuates by literally hundreds of dollars! We eventually got it for $310 (usd), which we were happy with at that time. I waited several months to test it and make sure it runs as it should before posting my review. We mounted on a 1996 GMC Vandura G3500, and mounted another MaxxAir fan (4500k?) in the front as well, to vent our cooking fumes/smells. Also, you do NOT have to use Dicor or Sikaflex!! You don't want any kind of silicone on your roof being constantly exposed to UV rays and weathering. So used white 3M 5200 sealant, which is a sealant and Adhesive which is used on expensive yachts/houseboats. It is the absolute best thing for these applications, as we have had bad experience with Dicor (after many years of rv'ing/etc). It's your choice but I'd rather spend a few extra bucks for the best. We haven't framed our fan in yet but they make it easy, even if you've never done it before. The remote seems to only operate the fan in "auto" mode, but maybe I'm doing it wrong too. I haven't checked yet because it's easier to just use the on-fan manual controls. We love everything about the setup though and it runs wonderfully. There is a slight noise, but its mostly just air moving. It will create a great amount of air movement in you set them up correctly. We would recommend spending the extra and getting this fan. It's truly worth it and makes a world of difference.

It's pretty darn quiet, and because the fan is a larger overall diameter than the stock RV fan, it's no wonder RV owners love this thing. Install was super easy as well! You do have to spend some time doing the prep work, but because of how all these parts are very easily interchangeable, it's not something that really requires any high level of proficiency/expertise. Watch a few videos first to confirm you've got the general flow of things, and it becomes very straight forward. Operation is great! The remote is very handy, though for the time being, we've got the fan running on low all day anyways because we like having the air circulation. We replaced the washroom vent fan, and on that part of the RV, the roof slants towards the outer wall - so I suspect the fan is currently running at a slight angle - it's still quiet, but it makes me wonder whether or not it'd be even quieter if mounted dead level. It obviously moves a bit more air than the stock ones - you can tell as most RV washroom doors have a gap at the bottom, and you will notice the increased airflow over your feet if the door's closed. It was a bit strange to notice the washroom was a bit darker in the middle of the day, but as a bonus, the cover is semi transparent, so it's almost like an additional skylight in our washroom. You'd think with the remote as big as it is, if it really were designed for the elderly, they'd make the buttons that much bigger, along with the font. It seems unnecessarily large, to accommodate for the screen, that they might as well have made the buttons and font larger as well.

I had a different brand, without a remote before. Hardly used it. The fact that I can turn fan on/off without getting in the back & having to wind it up & doing the same to turn it off. Its quieter, looks better & works great. The remote has a couple of times not wanted to work, like signals on, but no action. Turn remote on & off a couple times & it worked. But its great & thats better than the odd hiccup
