Now it works...
I confirmed this remote was correct for the garage opener model and set the switches the same as a working remote, but it didn't work. The red indicator light is working so I know the battery is functioning, but it does not trigger the garage opener. I just saw a review from 2020 saying to try reversing the position of the first switch, but it will be a week before I am able to see if this works because it is for my Mom's house out of town.UPDATE: IT WORKED!!! :) So, to get it to work I programmed it the same as a working remote, but reversed the position of the #1 switch. So happy to get it working and the small size and attached clip are great.

Great little remote
Ordered this for my BF along with a visor remote for myself to replace the ancient one I had. This little thing is awesome and has great range. It was very easy to program; you just need a tiny scewdriver to open the case so you can program the switches. It works just as well as my new visor remote that I also purchased on Amazon. Really good purchase! I'm thinking of ordering one of these for myself just to have. I just wish the remote was black instead of blue, but that's just a nitpicky comment.

Did not work
This item doesn’t work. Yes I used it correctly. Took out the paper allowing battery terminal contact. Set switches as marked on the gate. I even tried upside down and backwards dip switch combos but nothing. The red light on the remote works but the signal isn’t getting there from 5 feet away. Best part is, it cannot be returned because it’s marked as having “flammable liquid or gas.” Right…

Nice little gadget
I bought one of these a couple of years ago, and was still working so well that I ordered a couple more for the wife and the motor scooter (not necessarily in that order). One of them arrived DOA but that was quickly remedied by a trip to the battery counter. As others have mentioned, they don't have the same range as the larger clip-on units, but their compact size and portability make up for that. I mean, how far away from your garage door do you need to be?I did notice that the range varies quite a bit from unit to unit, probably because one of them has a fresh battery and the other is original. The remote with the fresh battery works from 30-40 feet out, while the other one -- well, if I can open the door from 10 feet away I figure I'm having a good day. Since I am easy to please this doesn't bother me much, but if you're unhappy with the range try a new battery and see what happens. Also, make sure that the receiving antenna on your garage-door opener (usually just a piece of wire) isn't missing or curled up on top of the thing. Receiver sensitivity is especially important with these lower-powered remotes. All in all the unit works as it should, assuming you are willing trade a bit of range for pocket-sized convenience.

Don't believe the 1-star reviews by people who don't understand openers
These are great little remotes. However, you need to have a basic understanding about how things work. This style of remote uses a series of DIP switches inside to set the code. You have to open the back and set the binary switches in the correct orded as either on or off...something like:| | O | O O |OGoogle "DIP Switches," and you'll understand. Once you know what you have / need, this system is VERY easy to set up.Again, these are NOT learning remotes. It isn't possible to "teach" them buy just holding down buttons on your remote and opener at the same time. The one star reviewers for the most part don't understand this.

single channel, One garage door
9 dip switches match my 1980s Craftsman garage door opener remote. I opened it up with a screw driver, set the switches (very small), pulled the battery tab out, pushed button and it worked. I took off the key ring and put double sided foam tape on it and stuck it to the back of my new Suburban Mirror. Works good so far. Pleased.

Seems like a good value.
I had a moment of doubt when I started trying to get this thing set up, thinking I might have ordered the wrong one for my older craftsman 53000SR series unit. I didn't have the old remote, so I cleared the memory on the unit and set the DIP switches in the remote to some random combination. I did the procedure to connect the remote and it worked right away. Much cheaper than the other options I'd seen and works great. I haven't really tested the range yet but it's worked from any distance that I'll need to use it.

Didn’t work
You have to be close to the garage door to work
