I'm someone who loves having lots of different compartments in my backpack in which I can store a large variety of different items. This item definitely meets that need, but one of my favorite features is that the front will open up and accomodate a suprisingly large item (such a bicycle helment or a 1.75L bottle of whiskey :) ) -- great for stopping by the grocery store on the way back from work on your bike. I've been through a lot of backpacks just in the last few years and this is by far my favorite.

I think this backpack is good and I use it all of the time
I think this backpack is good and I use it all of the time, so far it hasn't broken on me. One thing to advise is that there are bright neon blue cords in the front pocket that are visible when the bag is full/expanded. I wanted an all-black backpack because I lead a quite minimal lifestyle and these neon blue cords were not good for me. They are plastic and would be difficult to dye. Anyway, just know that in advance of purchasing because I felt like the rug was ripped out from under me.

High price backpack with a BIG problem in the bottom
I'm writing here because $110 for a backpack that damages after 5 months of normal use is not ok, and because Thule customer care never answered my email. As you can see in the 3 attached photos, this is a high quality backpack, but the bottom is very bad. It is like RUBBER GLUED TOGETHER that UNGLUED after 4-5 months of normal use. For over a $110 backpack, I would have expected better quality in the bottom. The photos appear like it was fabric and then the rubber layer, but no, there's only the rubber that looks good but the UNGLUED problem is a MAJOR ONEI contacted THULE but with no answer, I'm currently in Ecuador, South America, so I don't know if this will be covered by some kind of warranty. This is very bad, previously I had an OGIO backpack that had no issues like this one. BIG DESIGN FLAW and with NO ANSWER from Thule.Check in a local store and see if this will hold your daily trips, mine are normal ones, no abuse, no overweight, but the bag just unglued for no reason.

Great company and bag design
Great bag, except for the rubberized fabric seams at the bottom. However, their great warranty service has turned me into a customer for life

One of the best backpacks I've owned
One of the best backpacks I've owned. I will be deeply saddened when the bottom inevitably gives out. Preemptive 5 stars until it fails me. Fingers crossed it never does.

Great bag. I've been using it for 4 months primarily for work. It fits everything I need. It has plenty of storage pockets.

Not perfect, but has a lot going for it including portability
I like the size of this luggage. It's smaller than a traditional roller carry on, so when you don't need that much room this piece is a good size. Enough room for a 1, maybe 2 night stay. Will easily fit into an overhead bin without taking much room. It's made of very rugged fabric, high quality zippers and several different carry options. Let's start with those first...It has a traditional shoulder strap, but this is larger than a messenger bag, so I found it too large to use the shoulder strap with the bag on my side. It was only a little better to have the bag hanging at my back when using the strap. The bag also has 2 different carry handles, one on the back and one on the top, so grabbing and carrying is easy. But what I liked the best was the conversion into a backpack (see picture). It feels very comfortable even when the pack is full. Yes it's big so definitely need to be aware of your surroundings. But it makes transporting the bag very easy for long distances. The backpack straps also tuck away (see before and after picture) inside the luggage so you don't have straps dangling all over the place when not in use. You do have to unhook them at the bottom to tuck the straps away, so it's not a super quick process, but it just takes a minute or so.Now let's talk storage. This is where the bag becomes hit and miss for me. There is a very large laptop pouch on the underside of the luggage (see picture). I think it's actually too big, and ends up taking up room in the main storage compartment. You could fit 2 15" MacBooks in this compartment is so large. I would have liked for them to make it a big smaller and allow for more room in the main compartment. It's also very padded, which is good for the laptop, but again it's at the cost of room in the main compartment. If you weren't traveling with a laptop, you could use this compartment for a pair of pants or a couple of shirts so it can be useful even though it's so large. There is a sunglasses compartment that I don't quite understand. It's a very rigid compartment on the top of the bag, and yes it will protect a pair of sunglasses, but it takes up a lot of room for a bag that's designed to be compact. And again, it has to share space with the main inside compartment (see picture of the compartment labeled). I could have done without this sunglasses pouch altogether. Maybe I could find another use for it to transport something fragile, but more often than not I won't find it that useful. Right now I'm using it to store the shoulder strap. There is a small storage compartment on the opposite side of the sunglasses pouch (see photo labeled "Top Outside Compartment" that contains 2 small zippered pouches, a key hook, and an RFID pouch for a wallet. This is a handy quick access pouch, but I wish it opened up a little wider. Finally, the main compartment. The main section is about 4" deep when the laptop compartment padding is pushed all the way down. But as I mentioned the shared space with the sunglasses compartment can't be condensed, so it just takes up a bunch of room in the main compartment and there's nothing that can be done about that. The other side of the main compartment has a small and a medium sized compartment that zippers shut. There's enough room for a couple articles of clothing in each of these, but too small to fit a pair of regular shoes (but sandals would fit). The luggage has no expanding zipper pouch, so the size is what it is.I will definitely find use for this luggage for short term travels, and the small size is welcome, but it does have it's limitations and for certain trips I will have to rely on a more traditionally sized carry on to meet my needs. It's built very well and I have no doubt it will last many years.

Good backpack but defective bottom
Best backpack I ever got. You will not regret it. Every day almost I find some new and cool feature about it.Edit: like others, the bottom became unglued. I am changing my rating to 1 star for this reason.
